Drugmaker Viatris forecasts weak 2025 results after import curbs on India plant
Feb 27 (Reuters) - Viatris (VTRS.O), opens new tab forecast annual revenue and profit below Wall Street estimates on Thursday, two months after the U.S. health regulator restricted imports from one of the drugmaker's key plants in India.
Shares of Viatris fell 14.6% in premarket trading.
Viatris in December 23, 2024 disclosed that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has restricted imports of 11 products from its facility in Indore, India due to violations of federal requirements.
The company estimated on Thursday that the FDA action will reduce its 2025 total revenues by about $500 million and adjusted core earnings by about $385 million.
"Although in the past we and investors had assumed a minimal impact from Indore warning letter, today's guidance shows a significant negative impact," said Ashwani Verma, an analyst at brokerage UBS.
The Canonsburg, Pennsylvania-based Viatris forecast 2025 revenue between $13.5 billion and $14 billion, below analysts' estimates of $14.27 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG.
The company expects 2025 adjusted earnings per share between $2.12 and $2.26, compared with estimates of $2.59.
The FDA has permitted exceptions for four Viatris products due to shortage concerns, though the specific products have not been disclosed.
Viatris, formed through the merger of generic drugmaker Mylan and Pfizer's (PFE.N), opens new tab Upjohn business in 2020, has generic and branded drugs in its portfolio, including erectile dysfunction drug Viagra, anti-anxiety medication Xanax, epilepsy treatment Lyrica and arthritis treatment Celebrex.
The drugmaker also fell short of market expectations for fourth-quarter revenue and profit.
On an adjusted basis, the company reported a profit of 54 cents per share, compared with analysts' estimates of 57 cents per share, according to data compiled by LSEG.
It reported a revenue of $3.52 billion for the fourth quarter, compared with analysts' average estimate of $3.61 billion.

Decision on oil refiner Italiana Petroli's sale expected around end-June, sources say
MILAN, June 12 (Reuters) - Italiana Petroli, which is currently in talks with three suitors interested in buying the oil refiner, is expected to take a decision on the potential 3 billion euro ($3.5 billion) deal around the end of this month, two sources with knowledge of the matter said on Thursday. Global commodity trader Gunvor, State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Abu Dhabi-based Bin Butti Group have all presented binding offers to buy the 100% of the privately-held group, sources previously said. One of the two sources told Reuters that other industrial groups from the Middle East have reached out to the Italian company to signal their interest in case ongoing negotiations fall through and the seller decides to re-open the process. One of the sticking points in current talks is the valuation, the sources said, adding the seller - the Brachetti Peretti family - is seeking around 3 billion euros. Italiana Petroli and Gunvor declined to comment. SOCAR and Bin Butti Group were not immediately available to comment on negotiations. The refiner last year posted an adjusted core profit of nearly 500 million euros and had net cash of 408 million euros at end-December. The group, which is being advised by UniCredit, has a total refining capacity of around 200,000 barrels per day. It also has a network of 4,600 fuel stations. It increased its refining and fuel storage capacity in late 2023 when it finalised the acquisition of Exxon Mobil's (XOM.N), opens new tab Italian assets. It currently owns a refinery in Ancona, eastern Italy; the SARPOM refinery in Trecate in the north; and has a tolling contract for the Alma refinery in Ravenna, towards the north east. Trecate deals with the production of different kinds of fuel, including aviation propellant, while the other two plants produce bitumen. SOCAR is being advised by Italy's Intesa Sanpaolo IMI CIB. Rothschild is working with Gunvor. ($1 = 0.8633 euros)

Chick-fil-A is testing two new sandwiches, and here is where you can get them
Chick-fil-A is giving fans of its renowned sandwiches reasons to be cheerful this summer with the unveiling of two new tasty treats. The fast-food chain announced that it was testing two new sandwiches – the Jalapeño Ranch Club Chicken Sandwich and the Creamy BBQ Chicken - on May 29, along with the seasonal release of its Peach Milkshake and Peach Frosted Lemonade. In addition, the Atlanta-based company is also releasing new crispy Chick-fil-A Chick-n-Strips. The strips, along with the drinks, are available for a limited time nationwide. However, the new sandwiches are teasingly only available in two cities. Where can I try them? The Jalapeño Ranch Club Chicken Sandwich, featuring the original fillet, spicy or grilled, on a toasted buttermilk ranch bun with pepper jack cheese, strips of caramelized onion-flavored candied bacon, lettuce, tomato, and pickled jalapeños, will be exclusively available in Salt Lake City, Utah. Customers can pair it with a side of Jalapeño Ranch Sauce for an extra kick of flavor. Meanwhile, the Creamy BBQ Chicken Sandwich, including the OG fillet, is served on a toasted, buttery bun with Creamy BBQ Slaw and sweet heat pickle chips. That sandwich, which can be enhanced with extra Creamy BBQ Sauce, will be available exclusively in Jacksonville, Florida. Both sandwiches are only available from now until July 19 at selected restaurants. Customers can check the Chick-fil-A app or contact their local restaurant to check if the sandwiches are available. Chick-fil-A, Inc., a privately held, family-owned company, is the third-largest restaurant chain in the United States. Yet, it is not listed on a stock exchange. In April, a study found that Chick-fil-A took the top spot among its competitors in an order accuracy study, with a score of 92 percent compared against McDonald's and Burger King, which shared a score of 88 percent.

The new development includes 16 individual food and retail units, a double-sided bar and a large events space. A series of celebratory opening weekend events will be held each day from July 10, until the end of the weekend. These events will be announced soon. The internal fit-out of the market is now reaching its final stages, with final preparations being made ahead of opening the venue. Rhyl's Queen's Market is set to open later this summer (Image: DCC) Cllr Jason McLellan, leader of Denbighshire County Council and lead member for economic growth and tackling deprivation, said: 'We are thrilled to be announcing that the doors of the Queen's Market will be open to the public from July 10, less than a month away. 'There is a full and varied schedule of events set from the opening day, which will run all weekend long and will be announced shortly. 'This venue will bring a fresh, modern and exciting offer to Rhyl and Denbighshire as a whole, and plays a major role in our regeneration efforts in the area by creating jobs and increasing footfall in Rhyl. 'The market has great public transport links and is walking distance from both the High Street and the beach. 'Queen's Market will be a hub for the community and will feature high-quality food, drink and retail options, as well as a state of the art, modern events space, which will be used to host concerts, markets, comedians, events and more. 'The building is opening right in time for summer, and just before the start of the summer holidays, one of the busiest times for footfall and tourism in the area. 'We are inviting all residents of Rhyl, and further afield, to come along to the opening weekend and discover what this new venue can offer them.' Midlands Events (Rhyl) Ltd was revealed as the venue's operator last month, and is a subsidiary of Telford-based Midlands Events Ltd, who Denbighshire County Council commissioned to assist with practicalities such as helping to secure vendors. Andrew Burnett, director at Midlands Events (Rhyl) Ltd, said: "We have a fantastic mix of high-quality food retailers, a themed bar, and a full weekend of fantastic entertainment planned for the opening weekend. 'We look forward to welcoming all customers to come along to relax, eat good food, have a relaxing drink and enjoy the free entertainment we have planned over the weekend. 'We are very proud of the venue we have created and look forward to welcoming everyone on site.' The Queen's Market's opening has been delayed by multiple companies and the council failing to reach an agreement regarding becoming the site's operator. The site went out to the open market via Sell2Wales in late 2022, but received no tender submissions.
