WATCH: Dramatic footage shows high-speed police chase in bid to catch criminal
The 32-year-old from Newport drove recklessly through built-up areas in Caerphilly county, including Risca and Cross Keys, in February this year.
He was behind the wheel of a red Ford Fiesta, making dangerous manoeuvres, and overtaking other vehicles with oncoming traffic approaching.
He mounted a kerb to avoid a police stinger set to deflate his tyres.

Footage from a police helicopter shows him driving round a roundabout on the wrong side of the road.
A police helicopter tracked his movements while members of Gwent Police's Roads Policing and Specialist Operations (RPSO) unit also pursued him.
Taylor eventually abandoned his vehicle in Risca.
The helicopter directed officers on the ground to a Tesco store where Taylor was found hiding and was arrested.
At the time of his arrest, he was found with three bags of cocaine on him.
A passenger was in the car with him during the chase.
Taylor has 22 previous convictions for 41 offences, including three previous dangerous driving charges.
He also has a conviction for possessing an offensive weapon after he was found with a knuckle duster with a retractable dagger in March 2024.

He has never passed a driving test.
This year, he admitted to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance.
He also pleaded guilty to possession of class A drugs, handling stolen goods, and a burglary offence in Dewstow, Monmouthshire, on December 1, 2023.
Newport Crown Court heard that Taylor stole £300 in cash from a house in Caerwent, leaving a DNA trace at the scene.
Taylor, of St John's Terrace, Crosskeys, was sentenced to 32 months in prison and disqualified from driving for 34 months upon his release.
He was also ordered to pay a £228 victim surcharge.
PC Aimee Rees, the officer in the case, said: "The NPAS footage of Taylor's driving is extremely shocking to view, especially when you consider the speeds he reached in built-up areas.
"Taylor was aware he was driving whilst disqualified and his willingness to engage in such risk-taking to try to evade detection is something that caused us great concern.
"His actions on that day could have had tragic consequences given the lack of care for the safety of others and himself. It is by sheer luck only that nobody was injured during this spree of utterly reckless and dangerous driving by Taylor.
'Bringing the defendant to justice was a team effort and, with overwhelming evidence against him, Taylor had no other option but to plead guilty to the offences he faced in court.'

Woman pushed out of car and dragged along road after man creeps up behind her
A delivery driver says she has been left traumatised after a man snuck up behind her, pushed her out of her car, got into the driver's seat, and dragged her along the floor as he sped off leaving her in the road. Angela Johnson, 54, from Newport, was working the weekend delivery job she has had for 18 years when a man stole her car as she was getting out of it in Iswlyn Road in Wattsville on Sunday evening. Gwent Police are now appealing for any CCTV or witnesses that can help them in their investigation. Angela said: "At around 9.20pm I had arrived at my next delivery location on Islwyn Road in Wattsville. I took off my seatbelt and grabbed the bag of food. READ MORE: Cardiff teacher accused of child sex offences READ MORE: 167 homes to be built on the outskirts of Cardiff "I opened the car door and as I was getting out of the car, a man pushed me out of the way and said: 'I want your car.' He got into the driver's seat and starting driving off. "I am the type of person to put up a fight and in the moment my instinct was to shout and grab the wheel or any part of the car I could. "It didn't stop him though. He drove off, dragging me along the road with him, and left me there. "Everything was in that car. My phone, my handbag, my cleaning equipment for my weekday job, as well as my week's worth of earnings – about £500 in cash." Angela and her husband Kelvin managed to track the car's location through Life360. Police officers and police dogs then found the blue Audi A1 to have been left in St John's Terrace in Crosskeys. The culprit is alleged to have stolen the cash, cleaning equipment, Angela's phone, and her handbag. "I have been a delivery driver for over 18 years and nothing this awful has ever happened to me before," Angela added. "It is not like I was down a dark alleyway – it was in broad daylight on a residential road. "I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. "Now I just feel so angry it makes me cry when I get asked about what happened. But I couldn't have stopped it. "I remember being so terrified afterward that I collapsed with fear and couldn't breathe. Someone came out of their house then and called the police for me." Police have confirmed they are investigating the report of theft. A spokesman for Gwent Police said: "We received a report of the theft of a car in Islwyn Road, Wattsville, Caerphilly borough, at around 9.30pm on Sunday, August 10. "An unknown man is alleged to have entered the unlocked blue Audi A1 and driven away. "Officers attended and located the car in St John's Terrace, Crosskeys, at around 10.50pm. "A handbag containing a quantity of cash, a hoover, cleaning equipment, and a mobile phone are believed to have been stolen from inside the car. "Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. Camping teens hit with 'racially targeted' abuse after being mistaken for migrants
A Welsh police force is investigating after a Scout group received racist abuse after being mistaken for migrants. On August 6 a bus travelling from Scotland carrying the Scouts to the CRAI activity park in Newbridge in Caerphilly county borough was targeted by members of the public who mistook them for illegal settlers. After footage, which has since been removed from social media, of the bus was posted to various Facebook groups the video attracted racist comments which got out of control. It emerged police had been seen at the site previously which fed the misinformation but this was actually because Gwent Police carried out dog handling training at the site when Scouts weren't using it. READ MORE: Cardiff teacher accused of child sex offences READ MORE: Person dies in Cardiff city centre Stay informed on Caerphilly news by signing up to our newsletter here In a statement Gwent Police said it was investigating the posts. Detective Chief Superintendent Jason White said: 'We're aware of several posts responding to a social media video published earlier this week in relation to a visiting Scouts group to Newbridge. 'The video was removed but some of the posts contained inappropriate and offensive language and enquiries into the nature of the posts are ongoing. 'While that work takes place, there are some mistruths circulating on social media which we'd like to correct. 'The group featured in the video were visiting from another part of the country to attend a frequently used Scout camp in Newbridge and many of the people in the video are children. 'The site is not used to house anyone on a permanent basis. The site is used by our dog handlers to train our police dogs when not used for visits and our officers are not guarding the location. 'So with that in mind we're asking everyone to consider the tone and sentiment of their language but also for people to think twice about what they might read online and look for trusted voices within our communities. 'If you do have concerns then you can call us on 101, send us a message on social media, make a report via our website or speak to one of our officers if you see them.' Scout Cymru said it was aware of the incident where teenagers had been targeted. They said: 'CRAI Scout Activity Park is an inclusive and welcoming campsite and activity centre in the South Wales Valleys offering a range of outdoor activities for youth and community groups. 'We are aware of a racially aggravated incident targeting under-18s who were leaving after visiting our activity centre and we are working closely with the police to address this situation. 'We are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of everyone on site and will continue to take immediate and robust action against any behaviour that threatens this.'
