Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay on Monday said if the ruling DMK had ensured appropriate honour for the Chola kings, the BJP-led Central government, which was acting against the interest of Tamils, would not have taken it up now. In a statement, he said the Centre had sidelined Tamil Nadu, but now Prime Minister Narendra Modi was announcing statues for Chola kings and 'taking lessons' from the Chola dynasty. The DMK has failed in its duty and surrendered to the BJP and has pledged the pride of Tamils to the national party, he added. Mr. Vijay alleged that the BJP-led Centre, which was trying to bury history by hiding the Keeladi findings, was now talking about the Cholas, which is a mere act and the DMK had fallen for it. Puducherry Road Transport Corporation contract staff launch indefinite stir
Contract staff, including drivers and conductors of the Puducherry Road Transport Corporation (PRTC), launched an indefinite stir demanding the implementation of the long-pending promise of job regularisation. The protestors complained that staffers, some of whom had been working for over 11 years, had not been absorbed as regular employees. The contract staff demanded job regularisation without further delay and the implementation of all benefits of the Seventh Pay Commission. Leader of Opposition and DMK convenor R. Siva addressed a protest meeting and condemned the PRTC management for ignoring the demands of the staff. L. Sambath, MLA, and several leaders of the DMK and staff unions participated in the protest meeting.

DMK govt persecuting Hindu leaders: Raja
1 2 Madurai: Calling the DMK govt 'strongly anti-Hindu,' senior BJP leader H Raja alleged on Monday that it was targeting Hindu religious leaders and supporters using police, as seen in the recent case of Madurai Adheenam. Raja led a demonstration by BJP cadres in Madurai on Monday evening near Jhansi Rani Park, in support of the 293rd pontiff of Madurai Adheenam, Sri La Sri Harihara Sri Gnana Sambandha Desika Swamigal. The seer was recently subjected to inquiry by Chennai cyber crime police for his alleged communal remarks following a road accident at Ulundurpet on May 2. Raja said the DMK govt was reacting to anything and everything out of fear. "They will be out of power in 2026 for sure. So, they are needlessly waging a war against Hindu society and religion, and showing their anti-Hindu stance by actions such as this and persecuting Hindu religious leaders who do not favour them. They are using police as a tool for it," he said. Saying that the Adheenam was subjected to inquiry even as he was recovering from a surgery, Raja said the Stalin govt was acting like a 'Taliban' govt.
