The striker, who had been a mainstay of the national team since making his debut in 2019, was recalled to the Malaysia squad in March for their Asian Cup qualifier against Nepal.
He is in line to face Vietnam on June 10 at Kuala Lumpur's Bukit Jalil Stadium in another qualifying match as the Harimau, or Tigers, bid to reach back-to-back Asian Cups for the first time since 1980. The Vietnamese lead Group F on goal difference from Malaysia after one game.
Halim appeared as a 74th-minute substitute in his side's 2-0 win over the Nepalese, in what was his first international game since the attack, and Malaysia head coach Peter Cklamovski told media this week that Halim was increasingly gaining his trust.
'Faisal plays an important role for Harimau Malaysia,' the Australian said.

One of Malaysia's most famous footballers, Halim sustained burns on his neck, shoulder, hands and chest when an unknown assailant threw acid on him in the attack in May last year, leaving him physically and emotionally scarred.

Malaysia's Anwar faces more woes as sexual harassment case against him proceeds

A crisis of credibility hangs over Malaysia 's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim as he prepares to face a sexual harassment suit later this month, the latest in a series of controversies that has rocked his administration and cast doubts over his reformist agenda. Advertisement Anwar faces allegations that he has sexually assaulted a former aide, as the case threatens to dredge up past sex scandals that hounded him for years while he was in opposition. A high court in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday threw out Anwar's attempt to invoke legal immunity as prime minister against the suit filed by Muhammed Yusoff Rawther, ruling there were no constitutional provisions for such privileges. The trial for the case is scheduled to begin on June 16. In accepting the ruling, Anwar said on Wednesday his application was 'never about seeking personal immunity or escaping legal scrutiny'. 'It concerns the integrity of our constitutional system and the need to ensure that high public office is protected from litigation that may be strategically timed, politically motivated or institutionally disruptive,' he said in a statement. Body found in Malaysia amid search for missing British backpacker

Malaysian authorities have found the body of an unidentified foreign man in a suburb on the outskirts of its capital, Kuala Lumpur, where police have been searching for a British backpacker who went missing last week. Advertisement Local police launched a search operation in the affluent neighbourhood of Bangsar in a bid to find Jordan Johnson-Doyle after his father filed a missing persons report on Monday. The 25-year-old reportedly went missing on May 27 after taking part in a quiz night at a pub in the area. Police said a search team found the decomposed body at the bottom of a flooded lift shaft at a construction site at about 5pm on Wednesday. It was lying face down with most of its clothes off. 'It has not been established whether the body is that of a United Kingdom national who was recently reported missing,' Brickfields district police chief Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood was quoted as saying by national newswire Bernama late Wednesday. Hong Kong star aims to use Chinese Super League lessons in valuable Nepal test

Sun Ming-him said the Chinese Super League (CSL) had taught him 'how to deal with the psychological side of football', as he looked forward to a crucial week for the Hong Kong team. Advertisement Left-back Sun quickly became a regular starter for Cangzhou Mighty Lions after his transfer from Eastern in February 2024. The 24-year-old's career was temporarily thrown up in the air, however, when Cangzhou's financial issues saw them slung out of the Chinese leagues for 2025. Sun had sufficiently impressed in his debut campaign that he was snapped up by Tianjin Jinmen Tiger, who now sit sixth in the CSL standings. 'I had to start again from the beginning, to know my position in the team and how I could help,' Sun said. 'I needed to adapt to a new environment, and a new coach and teammates. They've all helped me, I'm so thankful for the chance, and I'm also grateful to Cangzhou for taking me to the CSL.'
