Love Island host Maya Jama shut down 'fix' rumours after fans claimed the producers are 'too involved' in what happens in the programme
Love Island host Maya Jama has hit back at claims producers are 'too involved' in what happens in the show. The ITV2 star, who is the face of the popular dating programme, claimed that the show is "real" but producers do step in to "encourage" the islanders to have specific talks with each other.
During her appearance on The Chunkz Show, she insisted she gets results about who gets dumped from the villa at the same time as all the other contestants. Maya admitted: "I've never said the wrong name, but there are cameras constantly around and they like the dramatic pauses.

"There is a lot of me saying something and then it waits. It's funny with the new Islanders, where they're not used to me saying something and then pausing for ages and they're all looking around like 'is she frozen?'.
"I feel so awkward for them because they're just standing there in their little outfits." She went on to tell host Chunkz that the producers don't get involve but 'encourage' the stars to talk to each other.
"I don't know if it's illegal or what but they can't tell them what to do," Maya said. "The 'most they can do is encourage them to have a little chat, but it has to be real because it's reality.
"I do this technique where I don't let them tell me who's going until I'm stood in front of them in my ear because I don't want to stare at the person or give away."
She added: "Literally as I say it, I find out one second before anyone else." Meanwhile, fans recently had another complaint when it came to a fan-favourite challenge of the show.

After the recoupling came the Heart Rate Challenge but fans were left fuming when they realised an iconic part of the show had been changed. Instead of sitting around the firepit, the Islanders were sat in a row on chairs.
The Islanders were over the moon when Shakira read out a text that said: "Islanders, it's time to get each others' pulses racing in tonight's Boys vs Girls challenge. #HeartthrobMode #BootyandBeats".
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, fans complained about the change. One said: "this might be the worst heart rate challenge in history… why are they sitting on wooden chairs."

Another responded: "Why the f**k are they in these chairs and not around the fire pit this show is losing it's traditions."
"I just know trying to dance on them on those plastic chairs is so uncomfortable and awkward," as a fourth wrote: "I think I'm gonna die of cringe somehow them being on chairs makes this worse."

EXCLUSIVE Love Island bombshell Bilikis Azeez has a secret ex with famous girlfriend and couple had no idea she was entering the villa

Love Island bombshell Bilikis Azeez has a secret ex-boyfriend who once starred on the show, MailOnline can reveal. New arrival, Bilikis, aka Billykiss, used to date 2022 Islander Dami Hope, who's still in a relationship with his Love Island girlfriend Indiyah Polack. Content creator Bilikis, 28, entered the villa during Tuesday night's episode and took fellow Irish star Conor Phillips and Dejon Noel-Williams on a date. But one viewer would have been shocked by her announcement after Dami, who still co-owns a business with his ex, had no idea she would be appearing on the series. It will also be an awkward watch for Dami's current girlfriend, former Islander Indiyah, who is on the Love Island Aftersun panel with host Maya Jama and co-stars Sam Thompson and Amy Hart. A source revealed: 'Bilikis and Dami have known each other for years after both growing up in Dublin. 'They dated a long time ago but still run a party business together so Dami not given a heads up on her villa entrance may not have gone down well. 'Their former fling is guaranteed to be discussed on Aftersun given Dami's girlfriend Indiyah is a regular panellist.' Dami and Indiyah have been together since meeting on Love Island in 2022, the year Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti won the series. They are the only couple from their season still going strong after this year saw Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page split while the likes of Gemma Owen and Luca Bish only lasted three months. Indiyah has become a standout star from her year, going onto present the MOBO Awards and appear alongside Maya on the Aftersun panel each Sunday. Bilikis's arrival has already left Islander Megan Moore unsettled, after she romanced Dejon, who she has been coupled up with since the show's launch three weeks ago. During Tuesday's show, Dejon revealed his head could be turned, saying: 'She's a pretty girl, her body is ridiculous, we had good chat and she's confident… she's in unbelievable shape.' MailOnline has contacted an ITV spokesperson for comment. Irish rugby player Conor also went on a date with Bilikis, which was his first since love interest Megan Forte Clarke left the villa last week. In an exclusive interview, Megan said she wasn't offended that Conor didn't follow her and is prepared to wait for him but will be closely watching his villa antics. She told MailOnline: 'I wouldn't want him to make a rash decision out of emotion, but we shall see how he behaves, if someone comes in fair enough but as of now, I think there is something between us so I will see how it goes. 'I will definitely be watching the show but not for too long because the FOMO gets to me, I want to be in there, but I have to see the girls and their best bits and how they are getting on with the boys.' When asked how she feels about the latest bombshell, Megan said: 'I'm like Conor, please stay away, don't forget me!'

She swept her dark locks over her hair in natural waves and added a pair of sunglasses despite being inside. Yet it was her whopped £15K gold wristwatch with a cobalt blue face that commanded attention. ITV2 presenter Maya zoomed in on the accessory in a separate image. It has now been revealed the bling is a rare 1980's Piaget brand Polo Day-Date Lapis Dial, with a solid yellow gold case. Maya often showcases her stylish fashion choices both on social media and the Love Island set. Recently, matchmaking show fans were left stunned after she dazzled in a bold lace-up skintight dress. She also donned a summery figure-hugging mini dress as she entered into the villa to reveal a shock mass eviction. Meanwhile, off camera, she dazzled in a corset top and printed slacks for a star-studded showbiz event. Love Island's Maya Jama looked incredible in skintight dress on Aftersun Yet Maya's not without the odd outfit mishap - and was seen looking frazzled after she lost an earring live on Love Island's spin-off show, Aftersun. ON SCREEN Meanwhile, Maya has dished the detail on secrets behind her Love Island hosting role. Appearing on The Chunkz Show, the former BBC Radio 1 DJ admitted she refuses to find out in advance who will be dumped from the villa, saying she only gets the results the same time as the Islanders. Maya said: "I've never said the wrong name, but there are cameras constantly around and they like the dramatic pauses. Maya Jama will be a massive hit with viewers but can she replace iconic Rita Ora? By Joshua Rom IT'S CLEAR that The Masked Singer is a huge asset to the ITV schedule. From the reaction of viewers at home, it seems that the competition is the epitome of primetime Saturday night telly at it's best. Alongside the likes of Saturday Night Takeaway and Britain's Got Talent, the guessing game is one of the top three entertainment shows for the broadcaster as up to seven million people tune in to watch. When we look at the show, we have a real mix of personalities involved. Joel Dommett's unique style as a host is carefully balanced by the sharp and witty panel of judges. We have singing star power in the form of Rita Ora, veterans of the business in the form of Davina McCall and Jonathan Ross and comedy value from Mo Gilligan. The dynamics of the panel work perfectly as Jonathan would take sarcastic jibes at Rita as Davina and Mo would be in hysterics Last series Rita was forced to take time of the show as she had other commitments across the pond. Huge names such as Nicole Scherzinger, Olly Murs and Jennifer Saunders took her place. Rita's star is only on the rise in Hollywood and she's set to star in a new film alongside the likes of legends such as Robert De Niro and Jamie Foxx in Tin Soldier. This is alongside her marriage to Academy Award winner Taika Waititi. Clearly not happy with a part-time panelist and a rotating roster of guest judges, ITV bosses have chosen another name to take her place as Love Island star Maya Jama will join the panel. We don't need to be worried about Rita as she will still be on the US edition. Maya is a clear favourite amongst telly fans as they love to see her front a show like Love Island and let's be honest, she's the perfect fit for it. She is stunning to watch, she's always on-trend, and very much appeals to the young fan base that flocks to the ITV2 dating show. But The Masked Singer is a different show on a different channel. Maya is no doubt well versed in the world of television, but she will be surrounded by stars on the panel with decades more experience on air and with more universal appeal. Rita also has huge star power thanks to all her work in the music industry with several hits under her name, something which - despite her undoubted recognition as a star presenter - Maya just does not have. By some, this could be considered as a risky move for ITV. Especially as networks fight to retain the loyalty of viewers in an age of Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+. With such drastic replacement in the panel and the inevitable shift in dynamics, the show is clearly about to change. "There is a lot of me saying something and then it waits. It's funny with the new Islanders, where they're not used to me saying something and then pausing for ages and they're all looking around like 'is she frozen?'. "I feel so awkward for them because they're just standing there in their little outfits." Maya then explained that the producers do not create scenarios but simply "encourages" the Islanders to pull each other for a chat. She continued: "I don't know if it's illegal or what but they can't tell them what to do. "The most they can do is encourage them to have a little chat, but it has to be real because it's reality." Maya added: "I do this technique where I don't let them tell me who's going until I'm stood in front of them in my ear because I don't want to stare at the person or give away." 6 She recently dazzled in a lace-up dress as she fronted spin-off show Aftersun Credit: Instagram/@mayajama 6 Yet she recently suffered a huge wardrobe malfunction when wearing white hoop earring on-set Credit: Shutterstock Editorial
