Top College Admission Doesn't Guarantee Success, Says Viral Doshi
Renowned educational consultant and mentor Viral Doshi emphasised that admission to a top college doesn't guarantee success. Speaking at the NDTV Education Conclave, Doshi highlighted that success stems from sheer determination, hard work, and adaptability, rather than the college one attends.

While answering the question, "Do you think success is guaranteed if a student gets into a top college?" Viral Doshi replied, "Not at all, not at all. Over the 30 years I've seen my students, I don't think success has come by which college they went to. It's come by sheer determination, adaptability, and hard work."
Explaining his point of view and easing the pressure of admission to elite institutions among the students, he said, "This is something I would love each parent and student to read - a lovely book written by Frank Bruni. It's called Where You Go Is Not Who You'll Be: An Antidote to the College Admissions Mania. Frank Bruni really debunks the myth of elite colleges, believe me."
"Have a look at that book. You'll feel much happier that your child is going to a good college - even if it's not an Ivy League or elitist institution," he advised parents and students.

Trinetra says, "I am not committed to playing only trans characters on screen. I am an actor. I want to tell stories. Period." Talking about the process of getting diverse roles, Trinetra tells NDTV, "I am not successful enough to be offered parts readily. I have given auditions so far. But I take my auditions very seriously. I am very proud to say that people in the industry are opening up to the idea of casting more trans people. Honestly, characters are beyond genders. We are not mere males and females. The joy of being an actor lies in telling stories; stories about rich and layered lives." Trinetra is ready to take up roles beyond trans characters. Does the industry show the same zeal? The actor lets us in on the most awkward comment she has received on that front. "A person recently said, 'I don't see you as a woman, but as a trans woman. I feel you'll only play trans parts in your entire life," says Trinetra, without revealing whether the person is a director, actor or producer. Trinetra's Transition vs Actors' Cosmetic Surgeries In 2024, when there was a strong buzz over Rajkummar Rao's facial transformation, Trinetra shared a post on Instagram. An excerpt from the post read, "An actor was recently trolled into sheepishly admitting he had chin filler, and a topper was trolled for (not doing anything about) her facial hair in the face of obvious academic merit. Screwed if you do, screwed if you don't, clearly. There is only this one body, this one life. If there is gender dysphoria, it has to be dealt with." We ask what her thoughts are on actors like Khushi Kapoor or Shruti Haasan, who have openly talked about their cosmetic surgeries. "I can't speak for other people. For me, as a transwoman, the journey is very unique. Everything I have undergone in my personal medical journey has been related to my transition," says Trinetra. "I haven't done anything just because a casting director asked me to do it. I have never taken any step in my personal life or transition for this career. It, my transition journey, was always for my self. "My transition was to align my gender identity with my body. Because, unfortunately, I was not blessed with womanhood when I was born. I had to create it from the scratch. "I feel it's people's choice if they want to talk about their transformations or not. I have always been transparent about my journey," sums up Trinetra. Trinetra's Moment With Roshan Mathew In the series Kankhajura, Trinetra plays Roshan Mathew's love interest. Trinetra, who's a great admirer of Roshan's work, right from her medicine days, tells NDTV, "I watched his film Moothon (2020) when I was studying medicine. My Made In Heaven co-stars Shashank Arora and Sobhita Dhulipala were also a part of that film. So, it's like a life-has-come-full-circle moment for me. In that film, Roshan plays a queer character. He said so much through his eyes. He brings a lot of energy to the sets." Trinetra also shared a funny Instagram reel recently, where she is seen learning Malayalam from Roshan. "I love to learn language. So, I kept on asking him what this word would be called in Malayalam," smiles Trinetra. Don't mess with Sandeep Reddy Vanga: Social media reacts to Deepika Padukone justifying leaving film over money issues
Deepika Padukone may be one of the highest-paid actors in the country today, but she has consistently spoken out about gender-based pay disparity in the film industry. Amid speculation surrounding her reported exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's upcoming film Spirit, an old interview of the actress has resurfaced, where she openly discusses turning down a film due to unequal pay. Although Deepika has not officially confirmed or commented on her departure from Spirit, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga appeared to address the matter in a cryptic but strongly worded post on social media platform X. Without naming anyone, he expressed his disappointment at an unnamed actress, accusing her of 'putting down a younger actor" and leaking details about the film. 'When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA between us… Putting down a younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for?" he wrote. He further added, 'You didn't get it. You won't get it. You will never get it.' According to reports, Deepika was initially cast opposite Prabhas in Spirit. However, Triptii Dimri — who gained attention for her performance in Vanga's Animal— is now said to be replacing her. Reports also claim Deepika was offered ₹ 20 crore for the role, the highest fee of her career so far, even surpassing recent quotes for her husband Ranveer Singh. In the resurfaced NDTV interview, Deepika recalled walking away from a film project because the director could not meet her fee demand, even though she liked the script. She said, 'When I quoted my price, the director said he couldn't afford it because he had to pay the male actor's fee. So I said, ok then, tata goodbye, because I know my track record. I know what I am worth.' Deepika added that it was not about ego, but principle. 'At the end of the day, I didn't want to sleep at night knowing I had an equal creative contribution but was underpaid. I was not okay with that.'Deepika's remarks have drawn attention online, with many praising her for standing her ground and while other crticised her. A user wrote: 'Track record is a biggest joke. Pls don't dare to mess with Vanga. He is a masterpiece.'Another wrote : 'This clearly shows you are not passionate about cinema, you are more into money.' A third user said: 'Wise decision.' On the work front, Deepika was last seen in Rohit Shetty's Singham Again, which featured an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Akshay Kumar. She also starred in the Telugu sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD alongside Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan. A sequel to the film is reportedly planned for 2026.

"Good Amount Of Grind, Grit Must": Women Cadets On NDA Journey
Pune: Emotions ran high during the Passing Out Parade at the National Defence Academy (NDA) as over 300 male cadets were joined by the first ever group of women cadets to graduate from the tri-services institute. Among the 17 women cadets to graduate from NDA was Shriti Daksh, who secured the highest rank in the Bachelor of Arts stream. For her, the journey at the academy was overwhelming and a roller-coaster of emotions. She said the difference between men and women was never really felt during training. "Everyone was treated the same. We (women cadets) were integrated gradually and trained in every aspect," she told NDTV. Another cadet Ishita Sangwan was thankful for the guidance of training officers and coursemates since she joined the institute in 2022, after the Supreme Court allowed women's enrolment in the NDA. "We knew nothing about fauj (army). Our officers and coursemates hand-held us. They have seen me from morning to evening and now it feels like we have always known each other," she said. For Srishti Singh, the journey of a cadet was one of ups and downs, of facing injury scares and making the "best of friends in the worst of times". "We went through a good amunt of ragda (grind) and often felt like leaving. But today when I am passing out, I feel like I should stay a bit longer," she said. She added that at the NDA, women were given equal space and opportunity and never treated differently than the men. Ms Daksh urged women to join the forces in greater numbers and be a part of the change. "No aim is too small or big. All that is needed is grit and determination," she said. Ms Sangwan admitted that very day is tough, but one has to think big and remember their reasons for being at the academy. Ms Singh credited her parents for pushing her to join the NDA, but her parents said the cadet's calibre and dedication was behind her graduation. Her proud father said, "Girls can do anything!" During the 148th Passing Out Parade today at the Khetrpal Parade Ground of the tri-service training academy in Khadakwasla, the women were marches past the Antim Pag. Academy cadet captain, Udayveer Negi, commanded the parade that was attended by Gen V K Singh, former Army Chief and current governor of Mizoram, as the reviewing officer.
