Teenage Cumbrian athlete Freddie Strong brought home TWO gold medals from the North of England Indoor Championships.
The 14-year-old from Keswick starred at the event in Sheffield last weekend.
Strong claimed victory in the under-15 high jump – and repeated the feat in the long jump.
The Border Harrier also produced an impressive performance to claim bronze in the 60m hurdles.
The multi-talented teenager produced personal best performances in each discipline at the Under-13 and Under-15 championships which were held at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield.
Keswick School student Strong cleared a height of 1.80m to win the high jump.
That put him ahead of nearest rival Joe Moss, from Amber Valley and Erewash Athletics Club, who cleared 1.70m.
Strong also came close to clearing the championship record level of 1.88m.

The two teenagers were rivals again in the long jump but again Cumbrian Strong came out on top.
His best jump of 5.79m put him above Moss on the medal rostrum with the latter jumping 5.73m.
And he then produced personal best times in the 60m hurdles to get on the podium.
In the heat he came home in second in a time of 9.28sec.
And in the final he shaved even more time off that as he finished third in 9.16secs, behind winner Charles Reilly from City of Sheffield and Dearne, and Jay Husain from Wirral.
Promising all-rounder Strong attends Carlisle's Sheepmount twice a week and also trains in a number of other events including javelin and shot put.
His coaches include John Little, Lenny Miller and Mel Brocklebank, and has more top competitions on the horizon, including the National Age Group Championships this weekend when he will again compete in the high jump, long jump and hurdles.
March will then see Strong compete in the Age Group Combined Events Championships in the pentathlon – hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put and 800 metres.

The 22-year-old Burnley shot stopper, from Greysouthen, is reportedly the subject of interest from Eddie Howe's Magpies, who are looking to bolster their ranks after confirming their place in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League. Advertisement According to various reports, Newcastle United have begun discussions for the Cumbrian goalkeeper, with Burnley valuing his services at £40 million. The interest in the former Carlisle United academy man comes off the back of an impressive 2024/25 season, which saw the Cumbrian achieve a record-breaking tally of Championship clean sheets as the Clarets won promotion back to the Premier League. Trafford was also included in Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad as the Three Lions recorded a 1-0 victory against Andorra and were defeated 3-1 by Senegal.

Cumbrian goalkeeper leaves Manchester City after six years

CUMBRIAN goalkeeper Scott Carson has left Manchester City after six years, the Premier League club has announced. The 39-year-old shotstopper, from Cleator Moor, will leave Pep Guardiola's Manchester City upon the expiry of his contract this summer. The experienced goalkeeper, whose 21-year professional career has included spells at Liverpool, Aston Villa, Wigan Athletic, and Derby County, initially joined Manchester City on loan from the Rams in 2019, before joining City permanently on a free transfer in the summer of 2021. The Cumbrian goalkeeper made his debut for Guardiola's Manchester City in May 2021, in a victory against Newcastle United, before making a second appearance in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 against Sporting CP. Writing on their website, Manchester City confirmed the Cumbrian keeper's departure. They said: "During his time at City, Carson has been praised by goalkeeping coach Xabi Mancisidor and peers Ederson and Stefan Ortega Moreno for his work ethic and the effect of his positive attitude amongst the group. "He has been part of a squad that has lifted 12 major honours over the last six seasons during what has been a historic period of success for Pep Guardiola's team. "Everyone at Manchester City would like to thank Scott for his hard work and dedication and wish him the very best of luck for the future."
