Malaysia, Singapore To Boost Regional Youth Volunteerism, Unity
KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Singapore plan to strengthen regional cooperation to advance youth volunteerism and promote cross-border unity, said National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.
In a Facebook post today, he said the matter was discussed during his courtesy visit to Singapore's Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, David Neo.
"The discussion included a proposal to establish a volunteer exchange programme and develop a collaborative network between youth volunteer organisations from both countries," he said.
Aaron also highlighted initiatives under the Ministry of National Unity, including the role of Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa (YSS), which actively implements Sukarelawan Siswa MADANI Berkhidmat missions both locally and abroad.
He said these efforts reflect Malaysia's commitment to shaping resilient, united and globally minded youth.
Aaron is in Singapore at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth to attend the Third International Conference on Cohesive Societies (ICCS) 2025, which began on Tuesday

The auto tariffs are "not something we can accept," Akazawa told reporters at Tokyo's Haneda Airport before leaving for Washington, referring to import taxes that have weighed heavily on Japan's large automotive industry. bootstrap slideshow The seventh round of ministerial-level tariff negotiations this week are likely to involve US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, as previous rounds have. The auto tariffs have been the key sticking point in the bilateral negotiations that began in April. The latest visit is Akazawa's first since Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba was unable to strike an agreement with US President Donald Trump over the tariffs at their summit on June 16 in Canada. Efforts To Strengthen Religious Institutions Must Remain A Priority
SEREMBAN, June 26 (Bernama) -- The Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, has ordered that efforts to strengthen religious institutions and enhance the efficiency of Islamic administrative law enforcement in the state must continue to be prioritised. His Royal Highness stated that religious issues must be referred to religious authorities and should not be interpreted by individuals or groups, as doing so could lead to confusion, tension, and conflict within society. 'I fully support all initiatives aimed at upholding the sovereignty of Islam.
