Scottie Scheffler Sends Emotional Message to Wife Meredith After Memorial Tournament Win
The world's No. 1 ranked golfer, Scottie Scheffler, continued his dominance on Sunday by securing his second consecutive victory at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, hosted by the legendary Jack Nicklaus.

Scheffler joined Tiger Woods as only the second player to win back-to-back at this course, finishing 10-under for the weekend. This marked his third PGA Tour victory of the season and extended his remarkable streak of seven straight top-10 finishes.
Despite his success, Scheffler made it clear that none of it would be possible without the unwavering support of his wife, Meredith Scudder, who has stood by him at every tournament win alongside their child, Bennett.
During his post-win interview, CBS Sports reporter Amanda Balionis asked, 'You know, watching you, Meredith, and Bennett, it makes me think of Barbra Nicklaus and how much she contributed to Jack's career with her support. Talk about what this balance looks like for you and the support Meredith provides to help you be the best father, husband, and the No. 1 player in the world.'
Scheffler's emotions surfaced instantly as he replied, 'Yeah, you're really trying to make me emotional now. My wife is my biggest supporter; she's my best friend. This is our life out here on the road, and it's been a lot of fun. We've had some special memories at this tournament, and yeah, I definitely couldn't do it without her.'
The couple, both Texas natives and high school sweethearts, were married in December 2020.

Back in 2022, after winning his first Masters, Scheffler shared a powerful moment with Meredith that helped put everything into perspective.
'My identity isn't a golf score,' he said. 'Like Meredith told me this morning, 'If you win this golf tournament today, if you lose this golf tournament by 10 shots, if you never win another golf tournament again,' she goes, 'I'm still going to love you. You're still going to be the same person. Jesus loves you, and nothing changes.''

At just 28 years old, Scheffler has already accomplished a great deal in his young golf career. If he maintains the incredible form he's shown over the past two years, he's on pace to achieve some truly historic milestones.

Although he's not expected to play in the upcoming RBC Canadian Open, Scheffler still has two majors left this season—the U.S. Open and The Open Championship. Winning both would complete his career Grand Slam, a feat only a select few have ever achieved.

Scottie Scheffler Refuses Comment on Caddie's Situation: 'Family Is in Good Spirits'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Scottie Scheffler has been playing without his regular caddie, Ted Scott, since last Sunday, and his absence will extend at least through the entire BMW Championship. However, the reason for Scott's absence has remained private, and Scheffler isn't about to reveal what's behind it. In fact, the world No. 1 specifically declined to offer details on the matter when meeting with the press before his performance at the BMW Championship. A reporter asked him about the possibility of Scott returning for the Tour Championship, and Scheffler responded by asking them to drop that line of questioning. "I'm not going to answer anything like that," Scheffler told the reporters. "If that's why you came out here, you're not going to get much. I think Ted's where he needs to be right now, and I think caddieing is probably the last thing on his mind, as it should be. I've been able to talk to him a few times. The family is in good spirits. Everybody seems to be doing well. I'm not going to comment any further on anything going on with his family." Getty Images/Pedro Salado Scheffler will have Mike Cromie, who regularly works with Chris Kirk, working with him in Maryland. The four-time major champion is apparently satisfied with the arrangement, all things considered. "It's been good, Mike's a great guy," he said. "He works really hard and does a good job. We're both learning a new golf course this week, so it's been fun. He'll ask some questions about things -- basically, he's just going to try to fill in as best he can this week." With Scott out, Cromie was an available option because Kirk finished 51st in the FedEx Cup rankings and failed to qualify for the BMW Championship. Naturally, Scheffler is in a very different situation, as he leads the rankings by a wide margin and is the favorite to win at Caves Valley Golf Club. If he does, it would be his fifth victory of the season and his first on the PGA Tour without Scott carrying his bag. It has not yet been reported whether Cromie will remain with Scheffler next week, should Scott be unable to resume his caddie duties for the TOUR Championship. Florida football's Jake Slaughter named to CBS Sports Preseason All-America team
Florida football redshirt senior center Jake Slaughter was named to CBS Sports' Preseason All-American first team, making him the lone Gator on the prestigious list released Wednesday. Slaughter, an Ocala native, is coming off a dominant 2024 season in which he started all 13 games, logged a team-high 728 snaps and earned first-team AP All-American honors. At 6-foot-5-inches and 303 pounds, Slaughter has been a steady force in the middle of Florida's offensive line. His leadership is just as valuable as his physical play, with teammates voting him a team captain heading into 2025. Anchoring the line in front of quarterback DJ Lagway will be crucial for a Florida team looking to reach the postseason. With one of the most challenging schedules in the country, having an experienced leader like Slaughter calling protections could be the difference in close matchups. CBS Sports noted that the SEC led all conferences with 11 selections on the preseason team, underscoring the week-to-week challenge the Gators face. Slaughter joins an elite group of players from across the league, reinforcing his status among the best at his position in college football. Here is everything CBS Sports' John Talty wrote about the Florida football center. What CBS Sports said about Slaughter "Slaughter had a terrific 2024 season for the Gators, logging a team-high 728 snaps in 13 starts and earning first-team Associated Press All-American honors. The 6-foot-5, 303-pound redshirt senior was the only center last season to earn 80-plus grades as both a pass and run blocker, according to Pro Football Focus. "He's big, strong, moves well for his size, doesn't get easily caught off guard and has earned consistent praise from his teammates for his hard work, which included voting him as team captain. He's the anchor of a unit charged with protecting star quarterback DJ Lagway, a paramount task if the Gators are going to match their lofty preseason expectations." Scottie Scheffler Gives A+ Review of Keegan Bradley's Captaincy
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. The PGA Tour is in Maryland to play the BMW Championship, but all fans already have one eye on the Ryder Cup, as it is only four weeks away. The work of both team captains has never been more under public scrutiny, a reality that becomes more palpable every day. Even world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has already had the opportunity to give his assessment of Keegan Bradley's work leading the American team. This happened during the press conference prior to the BMW Championship, and Scheffler described Bradley as passing the captaincy test in flying colors. "The intensity that he's brought as a captain -- I mean, he has definitely exceeded my expectations as far as a captain," Scheffler told the reporters. "He's done a great job. He's passionate about the Ryder Cup. He cares a lot about us as players. It's been a lot of fun kind of watching him develop in this role, and we're excited to get the Ryder Cup started." Keegan Bradley and Scottie Scheffler of the U.S. Team speak to the media following Thursday's Four-ball matches on day one of the 2024 Presidents Cup at The Royal Montreal Golf Club on September 26, 2024... Keegan Bradley and Scottie Scheffler of the U.S. Team speak to the media following Thursday's Four-ball matches on day one of the 2024 Presidents Cup at The Royal Montreal Golf Club on September 26, 2024 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. MoreOne of the most talked-about storylines right now is whether Bradley will take on the role of player-captain. Scheffler initially avoided weighing in, but ultimately left no doubt about which option he supports. "I guess you're going to have to ask the captain that question," he said. "I think, looking at our squad, I think we have a really good group of guys. I think Keegan can only help that. I think if it's something that Keegan wants to be part of the team and wants to play, I think he's a guy we'd all love to have on the team." The BMW Championship will mark the end of the eligibility period for the American Team. After the names of the six direct qualifiers are announced, Bradley will decide and announce the six free picks, a process that could take several additional days or weeks. Each team already has three players secured: Scheffler himself, J.J. Spaun, and Xander Schauffele for the Americans, and Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, and Tommy Fleetwood for the Europeans.
