Huawei tipped to make 3nm chips in 2026
Huawei is developing a true 5 nm production line without the need for EUV lithography machines. Furthermore, 3 nm chips are already in the R&D stage, with plans to start production by 2026, according to a report by UDN.
Huawei cannot use standard EUV technology, as it is patented by the Dutch company ASML, which is banned from working with the Chinese manufacturer. Instead, the company is using SSA800 lithography machines with multi-patterning, made by Shanghai Micro Electronics (SMEE).
Research and development for 3nm chips are following two approaches: one is GAA architecture (the standard one, used by TSMC and Samsung), and the other is a carbon nanotube-based chip that has already completed lab validation and is now being adapted for SMIC's production lines.
Earlier this month, the Huawei Matebook Fold arrived, powered by Kirin X90. While the company calls it a "5nm chip," it is actually a 7nm design with advanced packaging technology. It brings performance on par with other 5 nm chips, but the yield is only 50%, which is extremely low, making the chip more expensive to manufacture.

Infinix Note 50x will get 90FPS gaming support for BGMI soon
Infinix has announced that it will roll out an OTA update starting June 2025 for the Note 50x, which will bring 90FPS gaming support for BGMI. Once the update is installed, Infinix Note 50x users can play BGMI at 90FPS by selecting the "Extreme+" option under the Settings > Graphics > Frame Rate menu of the game. With 90FPS gaming support for BGMI, Infinix claims that the Note 50x will be the only smartphone in the sub-INR12,000 ($140/€125) segment in India to play BGMI at 90FPS with the Extreme+ setting. The Infinix Note 50x was launched in India in March with two memory options - 6GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB, priced at INR11,499 ($135/€120) and INR12,999 ($150/€135), respectively. Apple now rumored to be developing haptic buttons for iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches
Apple has been rumored quite a few times to be developing haptic buttons for iPhones, but obviously they haven't yet launched. Now, a new rumor claims that not only has Apple restarted the haptic button project for future iPhones, but the company has allegedly expanded its reach to also include iPads and Apple Watches. So it pretty much seems like Apple is now going all-in with haptic buttons, for better or worse. Obviously, it thinks their advantages are worth it. These solid-state "buttons" which technically aren't actual buttons reduce mechanical wear (to zero, since they don't move at all), while also letting you (or Apple) set different functionalities for a light press and firm press, or a short press and a long press, or all of the above. Haptic buttons were rumored for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max most recently, but plans were allegedly shelved. And now, the shelf is open and development is on the way again, of course, if this rumor is accurate. It doesn't tell us when to expect haptic buttons to reach Apple's products, so it's probably safe to bet that it won't be happening this year. According to the source of this rumor, the reason why Apple hasn't yet launched any devices with haptic buttons is that it hasn't quite cracked the issue of mistouches.
