Chief of General Staff inspects readiness of armed forces participating in Hajj operation
MAKKAH — Saudi Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Fayyadh Al-Ruwaili inspected on Monday the readiness of the Armed Forces units participating in the operation of Hajj 2025. This is in line with the directives of Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman as part of efforts by security bodies and government agencies to ensure the security and safety of pilgrims.
Al-Ruwaili began his field tour by inspecting the Air Forces group at Arafat Airport. He concluded his field tour by reviewing the participating units at the duty force field at Al-Maghmas, where he was briefed on the approved operational and organizational plans to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims during their travels and the performance of their rituals.
The Air Force provides advanced air support, including surveillance, reconnaissance, and securing the airspace over the holy sites. The Naval Forces participate in securing seaports, dealing with suspicious materials, and supporting rescue efforts through diving teams, in addition to contributing specialized infantry and drone units.
Regarding health services, the Ministry of Defense is implementing an integrated medical plan that includes the operation of 36 health centers with a capacity of more than 1,040 beds, supported by a mission of over 1,790 health and administrative personnel distributed across hospitals and field clinics in the holy sites.

Kyiv's European allies are looking to set up a force that could backstop any peace agreement, and a coalition of 30 countries, including European nations, Japan and Australia, have signed up to support the initiative. Military chiefs are figuring out how that security force might work. The role that the US might play in is unclear. Trump on Tuesday ruled out sending US troops to help defend Ukraine against Russia. Russia has repeatedly said that it would not accept NATO troops in Ukraine. Attacks on civilian areas in Sumy and Odesa overnight into Wednesday injured 15 people, including a family with three small children, Ukrainian authorities said. Iran says it will deploy new missiles if Israel attacks again
Iran said on Wednesday it is prepared for any new Israeli attack, announcing it has developed missiles with greater capabilities than those used during their recent 12-day war. 'The missiles used in the 12-day war were manufactured… a few years ago,' Defence Minister Aziz Nassirzadeh said, quoted by the official IRNA news agency. 'Today, we have manufactured and possess missiles with far greater capabilities than previous missiles, and if the Zionist enemy embarks on the adventure again, we will undoubtedly use them.' Health Ministry urges parents to complete school fitness screening for first-grade students
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Ministry of Health urged parents of incoming first-grade students for the 1447 AH (2025–2026) academic year to complete the school fitness screening. The screening, which will be carried out by the MoH, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, aims to confirm medical readiness and support early detection within school health programs. Appointments can be booked through the Sehhaty app, allowing parents to select the time and the appropriate health center. The program verifies school-age immunizations, reviews the student's health status, measures body mass index (BMI), and conducts vision, speech, and hearing screening, dental and oral checks, and a clinical exam. It aims to strengthen preventive health, enable early detection of health issues, and promote healthy behavior in schools, in line with the Health Sector Transformation Program under the Saudi Vision 2030. In 2024, more than 1.7 million students had benefited from exploratory and fitness screenings, while about 3.5 million students benefited from the school health awareness program. Additional efforts include inspections of school environments and cafeterias in collaboration with the Ministry of Education to ensure food safety, training health supervisors, and engaging parents. These efforts advance preventive health among students as part of the ministry's public-health mandate.
