Bhopal railway division officials said that the service will enhance connectivity between the capital cities of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, offering improved interstate travel facilities. The Patna-bound Vande Bharat service will be allocated to Patna railway division. Both Bhopal and Patna railway divisions are to finalise operational arrangements. Schedule and pricing details will be announced after service allocation.
RKMP and Patna are separated by roughly 1005 km. While existing services like Agartala Express and other superfast trains require 18 to 20 hours, the semi-high speed Vande Bharat, travelling at up to 160 kmph, will complete this journey in 12 to 13 hours. Currently, direct rail connections from Bhopal and RKMP to Patna are restricted to Agartala Express and Saharsa Weekly Express. Passengers travelling to Bihar must use multiple connections on other services.
The additional Vande Bharat service will address issues of long waiting times and queues. Passengers will benefit from direct, comfortable, and swift transportation, enhancing their travel experience. The Railway Board's allocation is expected shortly, with services likely to begin within two months. The Bhopal division completed all required operational preparations.
The Vande Bharat Express linking Bhopal and Lucknow will reduce journey duration to 6-8 hours from the present 10-12 hours. The train comprises eight coaches, offering AC chair car and executive class accommodation. The service incorporates the Kavach Protection System for safety and consumes 25% less electricity.
Presently, over 10 trains operate between these cities via indirect routes, taking 10-12 hours. The new Vande Bharat Express will decrease travel time and efficiently handle passenger traffic

Railways to undertake random verification of Aadhaar to check for illegal immigrants

The Indian Railways has issued an alert on illegal immigrants using fake or forged Aadhaar cards as proof of identity while travelling and directed Travelling Ticket Examiners to check at random the veracity of the document. In a note to Principal Chief Commercial Managers of all Zonal Railways issued on Thursday, the Railway Board said instances of individuals staying unauthorisedly in India with fake or forged Aadhaar cards and using them as proof of identity for various purposes, including employment and travel, had come to notice. To curb impersonation and misuse of Aadhaar card, it was imperative to strengthen identity verification mechanism. Ticket checking staff should check and verify the identity document of passengers at random. Wherever it was found to be a fake or forged document or in case of any suspicion, the matter should be immediately referred to the Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force for necessary action. Download mAadhaar app The Railway Board said the ticket checking staff should download and use the mAadhaar App (available for free on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store) on their mobile phones. The mAadhaar application, developed by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), was useful in easy verification of the document. The application provided several features, including QR code-based verification, which enabled reliable and paperless identity validation. Upon scanning the QR code on an Aadhaar card, the application would display key identity information such as photograph, Aadhaar number, name, gender, date of birth and address, thereby facilitating real-time verification of the authenticity of the document. 'This application works in offline mode also. This application might serve as a useful tool to curb impersonation and misuse of Aadhaar card,' the Railway Board said. Besides passengers, the note said the mobile-based verification app should also be used to verify the genuineness of contractual onboard staff, including On Board House Keeping, Catering staff etc. The move comes a day after the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) deactivated 2.5 crore suspect user IDs as part of a digital overhaul of its ticketing infrastructure.

The fare for this train will be Rs 660 for a chair car seat and Rs 1,270 for executive class. The difference in ticket price from the first Vande Bharat train is due to a difference in catering charges. Specially Designed Vande Bharat Trains These two trains are upgraded to withstand the unusually harsh weather in Kashmir. Vande Bharat trains on this route are specially designed with anti-freezing technology, using silicon heating pads to prevent freezing of water and bio-toilets in extreme cold. Heated plumbing pipelines are installed with self-regulating heating cables to prevent water from freezing, ensuring smooth operations even in sub-zero temperatures. The train coaches include a heating system for sub-zero conditions in Srinagar, 360-degree rotating seats, and charging points for passenger comfort. Overcoming the challenges of snow, freezing temperatures, and extreme conditions, these trains ensure uninterrupted services, the Railways has promised. Connecting Jammu Soon While these trains are initially connecting only Katra and Srinagar, in the future, the train operations will be extended to Jammu to offer direct connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir. 'Currently, the railway station in Jammu is under redevelopment. As soon as the work is completed, we will consider extending the service till Jammu," a ministry official told News18. PM Modi was originally scheduled to inaugurate these trains in April, but weather delays and the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam postponed the launch. Now, the long-awaited Vande Bharat journey to Kashmir is set to begin.
