Jones rose to fame as the co-writer and star of Gavin And Stacey, playing Vanessa 'Nessa' Jenkins, in three series and three Christmas specials from 2007 to 2024.
The show's finale episode, which aired on Christmas Day 2024, saw Jones's character Nessa marry Neil 'Smithy' Smith, played by her fellow co-writer James Corden.
At this year's TV Baftas, Jones won the best female performance in a comedy for her role in Gavin and Stacey.
Jones has also appeared in ITV drama Fat Friends, BBC sketch show Little Britain, BBC sitcom Saxondale, and BBC black comedy Nighty Night.
Other roles include playing Carry On star Hattie Jacques in a BBC biopic.
In 2014, Jones was made a Member Of The Order Of The British Empire (MBE) in the New Year Honours for her services to entertainment.

She previously joked about how she met him, speaking to The Scotsman: "It was love at first voice because I spoke to [him] on the phone before I met him." Sharing more details of her husband, who has since moved on with a new partner, Ruth told The Independent in 2008: "He has a very sharp mind combined with a dry Yorkshire wit, making him a naturally funny man." They properly met each other while filming the pilot episode of a BBC comedy in the early 90s. However, David was married at the time and Ruth later confessed there was an overlap between David's split from his wife and when they started to date. "Affairs cause a lot of pain; they're not something one aspires to do," she explained. "You don't aspire to cause pain to people in their life." During their lengthy marriage, they resided in Cardiff and created the production company called Tidy Productions, which created hit sitcom Gavin & Stacey. While Ruth was mainly private about her marriage, she once discussed her views on children and her happiness of being a stepmother to David's kids. Ruth told the Daily Mail: "It just didn't happen. It wasn't a decision. I don't have a burning desire to have babies. I think it's heartbreaking if you do and you find out you can't have them. I love being a stepmum — all the joy of motherhood without the pain of childbirth." And she told The Scotsman of the "joys of parenthood without giving birth" that she adores her role as a stepmum. ITV's first female weather presenter Wincey Willis dies aged 76
Wincey Willis, the beloved weather presenter known for her vibrant jumpers and effervescent charm on breakfast television, has sadly died at the age of 76 after a battle with dementia. Willis etched her name in history as ITV's first female national weather presenter when she joined Good Morning Britain in 1983, thanks to TV titan Greg Dyke. The chipper 34-year-old brought a fresh, animated take to the forecasts in an era dominated by more sombre presentations. "Most people don't want to know about high pressure over the Azores," she remarked to the Liverpool Echo. "All they care about is whether they need their umbrella." The energetic ensemble of Willis, the ever-beaming Anne Diamond, Rustie Lee with her culinary corner, and "Mad Lizzie" Webb's fitness feature propelled Good Morning Britain past BBC's Breakfast Time in viewership figures. A lover of animals, Willis even occasionally teamed up with the notorious rodent puppet sensation, Roland Rat, as her presenting responsibilities flourished. She returned to the northeast in 1975, securing a behind-the-scenes role at Radio Tees in Stockton-on-Tees. She transitioned into television when she was invited to audition for the position of weather presenter for Tyne Tees regional TV and a year later, she was awarded her own series on Granada titled Wincey's Pets. At the pinnacle of her career, during the mid-80s, she featured on the game show Treasure Hunt alongside Anneka Rice. A contract dispute led Willis to resign from TV-am in 1987, after which her television career largely came to a halt. In the following years, she dedicated her time as a conservation volunteer aiding endangered species globally. Wincey also hosted radio shows for BBC Coventry & Warwickshire and for BBC Hereford & Worcester. Her marriage to Malcolm Willis in 1972 ended in divorce. In recent years, Willis battled with dementia. Her passing on December 18 last year was publicly announced this week.

The show features the team travelling across the nation, meeting individuals who possess historical treasures and cherished items, and are seeking assistance in maintaining them in prime condition. In this week's episode, Lucia Scalisi and Dominic Chinea made their way to Glasgow, later joined by fellow expert Will Kirk. Lucia met Kaming, a member of Glasgow's Hakka Chinese community, who needed help restoring a Chinese unicorn head that required some tender loving care. Constructed from bamboo and paper, the delicate mask holds a significant place in the community's celebrations, reports the Express. (Image: BBC) However, years of dancing had left the mask slightly worn, particularly its horn which needed special attention. Kaming disclosed that he is the last person he knows capable of performing the traditional dance associated with the unicorn mask, and thus wanted it restored so he could hopefully pass on the dance to future generations before it disappears forever. It's fair to say Lucia had a challenging task ahead of her, which quickly proved to be anything but simple. She found herself dealing with unfamiliar materials while striving to restore the mask to a standard that would allow it to be used for many more years. The talented art restorer wowed with her skills, leaving Kaming amazed at the transformed mask. "Are you looking forward to seeing it?" Lucia inquired before adding that both were "very excited" about the completed piece. With the unveiling of the restored mask, Kaming was left speechless, uttering: "Just speechless! Speechless. It's amazing." (Image: BBC) He noted the stark change in the mask, saying: "It's a very big difference, especially the actual front here. Looking shiny." Lucia commented on the mask, mentioning: "Everything about it is exquisitely beautiful. The symbolism on it is incredible. "And, I think that it will do a very good job for your community centre for years to come. And now I think it's your turn to keep your side of the deal!" After Lucia was treated to a performance at the community centre, she expressed her admiration by being "blown away" by the unicorn dance. Kaming expressed the importance of the mask's restoration, stating: "It means a lot to the Chinese community to have it fixed because it represents a whole lot to them."
