How did the accident happen?
According to police, Preston was seated in the rear seat of the vehicle and his parents were in the front row. At the time of the incident, the baby was "improperly restrained" in the vehicle's child safety seat, it added.
As the child sustained serious injuries, he was quickly taken to a nearby hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries soon after. The family members have clearly denied the claim and even called it "hurtful," Independent reported.
Glen Norris, the grandfather of the child, told a local news outlet that the allegation was untrue and even reminded police about a witness, who helped the family in getting out of the crashed vehicle.
Commenting on its Facebook post, the police said that they did not do it with the intention of causing embarrassment to any person or to add to the pain. Police stated that this was to fulfill their responsibility to provide information to the people.
The cause of the single-vehicle crash is still being investigated by the police and they are also waiting for the 'routine' toxicology results. It remains unknown who was driving the car among the child's parents.

Another top Maoist with 45L bounty killed in encounter
Raipur: In yet another big blow to the Left Wing Extremism (LWE), another senior Maoist rank cadre — Bhaskar, who carried Rs 45 lakh bounty — was neutralized on Friday in an encounter that broke out in the same area where Maoists central committee member Sudhakar alias Tentu Lakshmi Narasimha Chalam was gunned down on Thursday in the forests of Bijapur. The encounter was part of the same anti-Maoist operation underway since Wednesday being carried out by personnel from the state police's Special Task Force (STF), District Reserve Guard (DRG) and CoBRA. Intermittent firing between security forces and the Maoist ultras took place the whole day and after the guns fell silent, security forces recovered the body of 45-year-old Maoist Bhaskar, who carried a bounty of Rs 25 lakh in Chhattisgarh and Rs 20 lakh in Telangana. Bhaskar was a Special Zonal Committee member of Telangana State Committee and was reportedly operating in the dense forests of Indravati National Park — a known Maoist stronghold. Three days ago, TOI had reported that security forces in Bastar have precise information on the locations of nine top Maoist commanders in Bastar division, and an operation to eliminate them is imminent unless they surrender. Speaking to TOI, Bastar range inspector general of police P Sundarraj said, "As part of the ongoing anti-Naxal operation in the National Park area of Bijapur district, security forces have recovered the dead body of another male cadre. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Air conditioners without external unit. "Bhaskar, a resident of Adilabad district in Telangana, was the Secretary of the Mancherial-Komarambheem (MKB) division of the CPI (Maoist) outfit," the IG further said. In the same operation on June 5, security forces had recovered the body of Central Committee member Gautam alias Sudhakar along with an AK-47 rifle. The search operation in the area is still ongoing to trace other Maoist cadres in the nearby area. Detailed information regarding other Maoist casualties and recoveries will be shared after the operation concludes and full confirmation is received. Hire and transfer pattern in teacher hiring scam?
Nagpur: Principals of a few well-known city schools were shocked when the education department summoned them last month for an inquiry related to the teacher hiring scam, asking them about some of their 'new recruits'. These recruits were the ones suspected of being hired fraudulently under the Shalarth ID scam, which is currently under investigation by the cops. The fact that came out was that these principals had no role in the hiring process because the 'new recruits' were in fact teachers who had been transferred from other schools. One of the principals who was summoned said, "We went there with all the documents to show that some teachers were not hired by us. They were transferred by the education department to our school. While we have nothing to fear, it's just that doing all the paperwork amidst such chaos is very stressful." So was there a 'hire & transfer' technique being followed by corrupt officials to deflect attention from the scam? A former education official, who is well versed with the hiring process, said, "These teachers were being hired by schools which are not well known; hence I wonder if they even had the required student strength. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo As per govt rules, it is the number of students in a school which determines how many teachers can be hired. It is possible that they would hire and transfer teachers to other schools, so that the employee count is not visible on paper, but this is something which needs to be investigated. " Transfer of teachers in govt or grant-in-aid schools is done only by the education department. Even schools which have a vacancy contact the education department, seeking permission to hire for the post. Before giving that permission, the education department taps into their 'excess teachers' pool. These are teachers whose services are no longer required in their original school as student enrolment has fallen. Since it's a govt or grant-in-aid school, these teachers can't be fired. They continue to receive their full salary till they find their next assignment. The former education official said, "Now, it seems that these teachers were then transferred to big and well-known schools, whenever a vacancy came up there." BOX SIT arrests president of Rajashri Shikshan Sanstha Meanwhile, Charan Chetule, president of Rajashri Shikshan Sanstha, was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Bhandara on Thursday for his role in the Shalarth ID scam, reports Soumitra Bose. He was involved in regularising the employment of headmaster Parag Pudke using fake documents. Following his arrest, Chetule was admitted to Mayo Hospital. The Shalarth ID scam involves the fraudulent creation of teacher IDs on the Maharashtra govt's Shalarth portal, leading to illegal appointments and salary disbursements, with over 500 teachers implicated and financial losses exceeding ₹100 crore.
