Clemson gets run-ruled by Georgia Tech as the Yellow Jackets even up the series
Clemson endured a rough outing in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against Georgia Tech, suffering an 18-2 run-rule loss at Mac Nease Baseball Park. The No. 6 Tigers struggled in all phases as the No. 25 Yellow Jackets exploded for 18 hits, including six home runs, to even the weekend series.
Starting pitcher Ethan Darden had a tough outing, allowing nine runs on 10 hits, including three home runs, in just 3.2 innings. Georgia Tech took an early lead with a three-run homer from Kyle Lodise in the second inning and then broke the game open in the fourth. Lodise crushed another three-run blast, his third home run of the series, while Alex Hernandez, John Giesler, and Parker Brosius also went deep in the inning. The Jackets tallied 10 runs in the frame, with most of the damage coming with two outs.
Clemson's offense never found its rhythm, managing just four hits. The Tigers went 1-for-11 with runners on base and left seven stranded. Andrew Ciufo drove in a run with an RBI single in the fifth, while Tryston McCladdie added a solo home run in the sixth, accounting for Clemson's only scoring.
The Yellow Jackets continued to pour it on, with Conner Shouse launching a two-run pinch-hit homer in the sixth, the first hit of his collegiate career. With the game well out of reach, Clemson turned to outfielder Tristan Bissetta to pitch the sixth inning. Making his first-ever collegiate appearance on the mound, Bissetta allowed one hit and struck out a batter.

(AP Photo/Charles Krupa) BOSTON (AP) — Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony, the top-rated prospect in all of baseball, hit a two-run double on Tuesday night in Boston's game against Tampa Bay for his first career base hit. A day after going hitless with an RBI groundout in his major league debut, Anthony came up with runners on second and third in the first inning and drove the ball to left to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead. Advertisement The 21-year-old second-round draft pick went viral over the weekend when he hit a 497-foot grand slam in Triple-A Worcester. He batted .288 with 10 homers and 29 RBIs in 58 games for the WooSox this season. Anthony's call-up on Monday was so sudden his parents didn't have time to make the trip from Florida, but they were at Fenway Park on Tuesday night to see his second game. ___ AP MLB:
