Franck Ribery hits back at Cristiano Ronaldo over Ballon d'Or claim
Franck Ribery has hit back at Cristiano Ronaldo after the former Real Madrid and Manchester United forward claimed that players need to win the Champions League in order to be in contention for the Ballon d'Or.
Ronaldo has won the Ballon d'Or five times during his career, second only to Lionel Messi, who has won the award eight times.
Ribery, meanwhile, did not win the Ballon d'Or during his career and the closest he came was a third-placed finish behind second-placed Messi and the winner Ronaldo in 2013.
The former France international was tipped to pull off a huge upset by beating Ronaldo and Messi to the award after he won five trophies with Bayern Munich that year, including the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
Ribery was also named UEFA's Best Player in Europe off the back of his impressive performances for Bayern.

But it was Ronaldo who won the award despite failing to win a trophy with Real Madrid in 2013, although he did score 66 goals in 56 appearances.
Speaking during a press conference on Saturday, Ronaldo was asked about this year's race to win the Ballon d'Or and the 40-year-old insisted that only Champions League winners should be picking up the individual award.
'The individual awards have lost some consensus, I can't say anything about who should win,' Ronaldo said.
'In my opinion, those who stand out and win the Champions League should win.
'But there is no consensus. I don't believe much in individual awards because I know what goes on behind the scenes.
'Lamine [Yamal] could win, like [Ousmane] Dembele or Vitinha, other emerging players… but individual awards are irrelevant.'
However, Ribery hit back at Ronaldo's comments on social media as he posted a message on Instagram which read: 'So you NEED to win the Champions League to win the Ballon d'Or?' More Trending
Ribery's message was accompanied by three laughing emojis.
In an interview with Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in 2022, Ribery criticised the decision to give the Ballon d'Or to Ronaldo in 2013.
'It was unfair,' Ribery said.
'It was an incredible season for me and I should have won it. They extended the time for votes, and something strange happened. I felt that it was a political choice.'

Tottenham decide transfer stance after missing out on two targets
Tottenham are prioritising the appointment of their new head coach but there is recognition that they must now act quickly following a slow start to their summer transfer business Tottenham's hesitance over the future of Ange Postecoglou has already seen them miss out on two midfielders and now they want to get a deal for the Aussie's successor in place to avoid missing out on further targets. Daniel Levy had spent the past two weeks deliberating whether to stick or twist in the aftermath of Spurs' Europa League triumph in Bilbao before finally pulling the trigger on Postecoglou on Friday. Thomas Frank is considered the clear frontrunner to replace the 59-year-old and while Brentford are yet to receive a formal approach for the Dane, positive talks have already taken place with Frank. Fulham's Marco Silva remains another name of interest but barring a significant U-turn, it looks as though Spurs will push ahead with a swoop for Frank, whose Brentford contract contains a significant buy-out clause. The Bees head coach is thought to have a good relationship with Spurs technical director and compatriot Johan Lange, who is expected to remain at the club and he'll also be tasked with overseeing transfer business alongside the likely returning Fabio Paratici. Spurs have already lost key ground in the market, England international Angel Gomes, a player Tottenham had been pursuing, has opted to join Marseille on a free transfer after also snubbing West Ham. Gomes' contract with Lille is set to expire at the end of the month but he now looks poised to remain in France after warming to the idea of working with Roberto De Zerbi. Meanwhile, Real Betis' American maestro Johnny Cardoso has agreed to join Atletico Madrid, providing a club-to-club deal can be struck. Last summer, Spurs negotiated a £21million first-option clause - that can only be triggered during a two-week window - on USMNT starlet Cardoso when selling Giovani Lo Celso to Betis. But it now looks as though Atletico will pounce and conclude a deal at a higher price for the highly-rated 23-year-old, who is not willing to wait around for Tottenham. Names of continued interest are the likes of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, who has a £68m buy-out clause (worth £60m + £8m in add-ons) that becomes active this summer, and Eagles skipper Marc Guehi while the Europa League winners were also tracking Bryan Mbeumo. Mbeumo has intimated that he wants to join Manchester United, who have had a £55m bid rejected and it remains to be seen if Tottenham-linked Frank could potentially swing the balance and convince his current player to join him in north London, if he lands the job. Ultimately, until Spurs know who their new manager is going to be - he will have a clear say on targets - it's difficult to envisage them splashing out on mega-money deals. Business will also likely be shaped by potential outgoings with Cristian Romero and captain Heung-min Son among those that could yet seek to pursue new challenges. Inevitably, they would need to be replaced with quality. Spurs remain keen on signing Mathys Tel on a permanent basis but they want to negotiate with Bayern Munich and won't be triggering their mooted £45m buy-option. Kylie Jenner goes topless under sexy black robe after shock admission about her breast implants
Kylie Jenner put on a busty display in a series of sultry snaps that were shared to her Instagram page on Saturday. The beauty mogul, 27 - who recently got candid about her breast implants - struck a variety of poses while taking snaps in the reflection of a mirror. The mom-of-two donned a black, satin robe that was partially open at the front and loosely secured with a belt which tied around her waist. Jenner's long, dark locks were parted in the middle and effortlessly flowed down past her shoulders in elegant curls. Her makeup was glammed up for the spontaneous photo session and comprised of a layer of mascara on her lashes as well as a light shadow around her eyes. A warm blush was added to her cheekbones while a nude-colored matte tint was worn on her lips for a finishing touch. The post also included a short reel as she showed off the lowkey look while filming inside what appeared to be a hotel bathroom. Jenner penned in the caption to her 393 million followers: 'having a reaally good hair day.' It comes just days after the TV personality gave a shock admission about her breast implants earlier this week on Wednesday. The Kylie Cosmetics founder responded to a fan on TikTok who had asked the reality star to unveil details about her past procedure. Back in 2023, Jenner admitted to undergoing a boob job when she was only 19-years-old, which had been shortly before she became pregnant with her eldest child Stormi. A social media user named Rachel Leary uploaded a clip to the platform and also typed out, 'help a girl out @Kylie Jenner. i just want to know how to get them to sit like that, respectfully.' The star saw the post and then offered her own response in the comment section of the video. '445 cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle!!!!!! silicone!!! garth fisher!!! hope this helps lol,' Kylie wrote, which prompted the fan to excitedly gush, 'KYLIEEEEE!!! you are the best THANK YOU!!!!' Dr. Garth Fisher was the same plastic surgeon that Kylie's mom Kris Jenner also went to back in 2011 to undergo a facelift. The momager recently commented on Fisher's post as she thanked him for performing her facelift over a decade earlier. 'Garth you are a such a superstar class act!! You did my first facelift in 2011... 14 years ago!!!' she began. 'And made it the most amazing experience ever and even gave us access to film so that others could get a peek inside what it's like and not be afraid...' Jenner concluded with, 'You have taken great care of us always and remain such a close and treasured friend!! Such an incredible talent!!' Kylie has previously been open about undergoing cosmetic procedures aside from the breast implants, such as getting fillers. During an episode of The Kardashians in 2023, the reality star opened up about her boob job which occurred when she was age 19. While having a conversation with close pal Stassie Karanikolaou, the mom-of-two expressed, 'You know I got my breasts done before Stormi, within six months of having Stormi, not thinking I would have a child when I was 20. 'They were still healing,' Kylie said, and then added, 'I had beautiful breasts. Just gorgeous, perfect size. I just wish I never got them done, to begin with.' However, the Khy founder told her friend that her viewpoint on undergoing surgery has altered since welcoming her daughter Stormi, seven. The beauty mogul shares Stormi as well as son Aire, three, with ex and rapper Travis Scott. 'I have a daughter. I would be heartbroken if she wanted to get her body done at 19,' Jenner admitted. 'She's the most beautiful thing ever. I want to be the best mom and the best example for her. I wish I could be her and do it all again because I wouldn't touch anything.' And during an interview with British Vogue last year, Kylie discussed facing judgement over rumors that she had undergone cosmetic surgery when she was a teenager. 'Naturally you're in such a different place,' she explained in regards to being a teen. 'The world put a lot of pressure on a teenager, me, to make the right decisions. 'And I just have to be gentle with myself because although I carried so much responsibility in the moment, I was just trying to do what was best for me. I was just trying my best as a human.' Kylie has been keeping busy and was spotted attending a Pilates class alongside her older sister Kendall in Beverly Hills on Wednesday. The beauty mogul showed off her toned midriff wearing a black, busty sports bra as well as a pair of black leggings. She also jumped to Instagram to share a carousel of snaps from the past week - including a few as she attended a Knicks game with boyfriend Timothee Chalamet. The couple - who were first linked in 2023 - have recently been spotted at a few NBA games together, although she did not include the actor in her photo series.

Jessie J emotional gig words hinted at star's cancer weeks before announcement
On Wednesday, Jessie said she made her diagnosis public to help her process the news, and to show solidarity with others who are going through a similar experience Singer Jessie J appeared to drop a huge hint about her cancer diagnosis last Price Tag star, 37, shocked fans this week by revealing she has early stage breast cancer and is holding on to the word 'early' and plans to undergo surgery after her performance at this month's Summertime Ball. The revelation made her words at her intimate North London concert on May 20 seem all the more poignant and significant. On Wednesday, Jessie said she made her diagnosis public to help her process the news, and to show solidarity with others who are going through a similar experience. "I just wanted to be open and share it, " she expressed. "One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard. "I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse-that's the bit that kills me." She continued: "The timing of it has been mad but also beautiful and given me this incredible perspective in this time. "But honestly I need to process it and talk about it and, I need a hug. You have loved me through all my good and hard times. And I don't want this to be any different," she concluded. Just weeks earlier she told gig-goers at Union Chapel that she was putting herself first and wanted to have fun. Jessie said on stage: 'I know we are all going through our own battles in life, we are all struggling in our own way. We talk about it sometimes, and sometimes we don't. 'I'm grateful I have the voice and the strength to be able to put those experiences into songs that people can take and make them their own soundtrack to help them get through a tough time, a good time, a scary time.' When she introduced her new single No Secrets, she also seemed to be referencing her cancer battle. Jessie said: 'This song for me, more so than ever right now, is getting me through my life.' Earlier this week, the former Voice UK coach told her 13.9 million Instagram followers: 'Before No Secrets came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. I'm highlighting the word 'early' – cancer sucks in any form – but I'm holding on to the word 'early'. I have been in and out of tests this whole period.' No Secrets details Jessie's relationship with fame and her heartbreaking 2021 miscarriage, which she has since spoken openly about. Jessie, who is performing at Wembley Stadium next Sunday, told fans she would then 'disappear for a bit' to have surgery. But the singer said that despite her diagnosis, she still feels like she has found her 'happy ending'. Jessie and basketball player Chanan Colman welcomed their first child, son Sky, in May 2023. Talking about her song Sunflower, which is yet to be officially released, Jessie said: 'I wrote this song about my boy – the happiest boy in the world unless he hasn't had enough snacks. He is the love of my life, the joy of my day… I jump out of bed at 5am to make him something to eat and then wait for him to wake up. 'I never thought I would live this life… I prayed for it for so long. The joy it brings me is overwhelming. I hope anyone who has that same feeling in their heart gets their happy ending. It's magic.
