Only one New York restaurant made it on the World's 50 Best Restaurants List

Time Out24-06-2025
A few weeks back, the food-loving folks behind the World's 50 Best list unveiled the back-half of this year's 100 Best Restaurants ranking, and two stellar New York spots out of eight North American entries managed to make the coveted lineup. Making a splash at No. 98 was César, the elegant, seafood-focused restaurant from chef César Ramirez, while midtown fine-dining mainstay Le Bernardin clocked in at No. 90.
And though those illustrious local dining rooms were joined on the full list by only one NYC restaurant in the top 50, they're at least in very good company: "New Korean" stunner Atomix was ranked No. 12 in this year's culinary pecking order, which were announced during a ceremony in Turin, Italy on June 19.
It's not the first time that the creative Korean spot—the flagship restaurant of husband-and-wife duo, chef Junghyun "JP" Park and manager Ellia Park, who also oversee fellow New York spots including Atoboy, Naro and Seoul Salon—has been honored by World's 50 Best: In 2023, Atomic came in at No. 8 and rose to No. 6 one year later.
Praised as the "ultimate gastronomic manifestation of the K-wave phenomenon" and "Korean dining at its very finest" with "dishes grounded in heritage, but distinct and innovative," per the World's 50 Best organizers, Atomix is the sole U.S. restaurant to make the main 50 Best list, and one of only three North American entries this year. (It's joined by Jorge Vallejo's boundary-pushing Quintonil and Elena Reygadas's Mexican-meets-Mediterranean beaut Rosetta, both located in Mexico City.)
Elsewhere on the list, Lima had an exceptionally strong showing, with Maido from chef Mitsuharu "Micha" Tsumura—an upmarket Japanese-Peruvian restaurant serving an innovative take on Nikkei cuisine—finally claiming the top spot after a decade of being featured on the World's 50 Best list. Rounding out the top five was second-place finisher Asador Etxebarri of Atxondo, Spain; Diverxo of Madrid, Spain in the fourth-place spot; and Alchemist of Copenhagen, Denmark at No. 5.

Cristiano Ronaldo forks out for £270,000-worth of gifts including a Porsche and luxury handbags to celebrate proposing to long-time girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez with massive SEVEN-FIGURE diamond ring

Cristiano Ronaldo is believed to have celebrated his engagement to long-time girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez by lavishing expensive gifts worth hundreds of thousands of pounds on the model and reality television star. The Portugal superstar proposed to his partner of more than nine years with an eye-popping engagement ring this week, with Rodriguez commemorating the happy event with a post on Instagram which was captioned simply: 'Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives'. Ronaldo and Rodriguez share five children together, two of them - Alana and Bella - biologically, with the 31-year-old stepmother to Cristiano Jnr, and twins Mateo and Eva. The 40-year-old has often sparked speculation that the couple had married in private, often referring to Rodriguez as his 'wife' at public events. But Tuesday's revelation put paid to rumours, with Ronaldo confirming his romantic declaration with a diamond worth an estimated several million pounds. However, the Al-Nassr forward is not believed to have stopped there, opting to chase the ring with a number of other luxury presents. As per the Sun, Ronaldo is thought to have also gifted his new fiancee with a white electric Porsche Taycan, worth over £78,000. Knowing her predilection for designer fashion, the former Manchester United man also purchased a number of items from French fashion houses Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton, including handbags and clothes totally over £25,000. Ronaldo brought up his total spent on additional gifts to over a quarter-of-a-million pounds with two timepieces: a Patek Phillippe watch costing £42,000 and another Audemars Piguet watch worth £53,000. The outlet revealed that a source close to the couple suggested Ronaldo's extravagance stemmed from his long-running preparation for the proposal, and his desire to 'make it so special for his special one.' The source also hinted at a date for the wedding, with the nuptials believed to be planned for after next year's World Cup in North America. Due to the public nature of the relationship, the couple has discussed their bond openly a number of times, with Rodriguez poking fun at her unmarried status in an episode of her reality television show. '(My friends are) always joking about the wedding,' Rodriguez admitted on the Netflix programme. '"When is the wedding?" 'Since Jennifer Lopez's song "The Ring Or When" came out, they started singing it to me. And well, this is not up to me.' The couple have been relaxing in Spain before Ronaldo's Saudi Pro League season re-starts Ronaldo added in his own interview: 'I always tell her, "when we get that click". Like everything with our life, and she knows what I'm talking about. 'It could be a year, or it could be six months, or it could be in a month. I'm 1000 per cent sure it will happen.' Rodriguez has been gifted a number of rings over the course of their courtship, further teasing the couple's relationship status. Ronaldo and Rodriguez are believed to be celebrating their engagement in her native Spain, with the latter sharing a number of pictures on social media of the player relaxing with his family on board his luxury yacht.
