Saudi Arabia supports Tunisia's health sector
TUNIS — The Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, inaugurated a new oxygen generation station at Taher Sfar University Hospital in Mahdia, Tunisia, in a project fully funded by Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Al Rabeeah explained that the plant has a production capacity of 80 cubic meters per hour, significantly enhancing the hospital's ability to care for patients, particularly in emergency cases requiring high volumes of medical oxygen.
The project includes a medical oxygen production unit, an industrial refrigeration unit, and a storage and distribution unit, all aimed at improving healthcare delivery at Taher Sfar Hospital and other hospitals across Mahdia Governorate.
The inauguration is part of a broader effort to strengthen cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Tunisia in humanitarian and relief sectors. Dr. Al Rabeeah's visit also included the launch of a volunteer program to provide cochlear implants and auditory rehabilitation for Tunisian children.

Health Ministry urges parents to complete school fitness screening for first-grade students
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Ministry of Health urged parents of incoming first-grade students for the 1447 AH (2025–2026) academic year to complete the school fitness screening. The screening, which will be carried out by the MoH, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, aims to confirm medical readiness and support early detection within school health programs. Appointments can be booked through the Sehhaty app, allowing parents to select the time and the appropriate health center. The program verifies school-age immunizations, reviews the student's health status, measures body mass index (BMI), and conducts vision, speech, and hearing screening, dental and oral checks, and a clinical exam. It aims to strengthen preventive health, enable early detection of health issues, and promote healthy behavior in schools, in line with the Health Sector Transformation Program under the Saudi Vision 2030. In 2024, more than 1.7 million students had benefited from exploratory and fitness screenings, while about 3.5 million students benefited from the school health awareness program. Additional efforts include inspections of school environments and cafeterias in collaboration with the Ministry of Education to ensure food safety, training health supervisors, and engaging parents. These efforts advance preventive health among students as part of the ministry's public-health mandate.

Minister Al-Jalajel discusses health cooperation with Australian counterpart

Al-Jalajel also highlighted the Kingdom's leadership in digital health, including the launch of the world's largest virtual hospital, which has provided more than 50 million consultations. He emphasized that cooperation with Australia contributes to accelerating the global adoption of virtual healthcare technologies and building a more efficient, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare future. Al-Jalajel also held bilateral meeting with Blair Comley, secretary general of the Australian Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, and Chair of the World Health Organization Executive Council. They discussed the council 's priorities, including digital healthcare transformation and workforce sustainability. The minister emphasized that the Kingdom's appointment as vice president of the Executive Council for the period 2025-2028 reflects its commitment to supporting international efforts to strengthen global health systems, prepare for pandemics, and ensure equitable access to medical innovations. The visit also included a roundtable discussion between the Kingdom's Ministry of Health and the Australian Department of Health, Disability and Ageing to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in the exchange of digital expertise and the achievement of sustainable healthcare.

Bravery of young Saudi man rescues dozens of people from death during gas station fire

Maher Fahd Al-Dalbahi staved off a disaster that could have claimed the lives of dozens of people when a fire broke out in a truck loaded with fodder at a gas station in Al-Jamsh town in the Al-Dawadmi governorate in the Riyadh region. Showing extraordinary bravery and presence of mind, Al-Dalbahi rushed to get into the truck and quickly drove it away from the fuel tanks, preventing a massive explosion that could have had disastrous consequences. He sustained multiple burns during the heroic adventure, reported. Al-Dalbahi's courage was widely praised on social media, with many hailed him as a great hero and considered him an exemplary model in saving lives of people by warding off a big disaster at the gas station. Al-Dalbahi recounted that he had stopped his car at a store near a gas station while he was on his way to his village Al-Salihiya. He found flames engulfing a truck loaded with large quantities of fodder after its driver had abandoned it in the middle of the station, unable to extinguish the flames. Al-Dalbahi described the situation as embarrassing and frightening, emphasizing that he didn't hesitate to save the station and the people inside. He climbed into the truck and quickly drove it away from the fuel station. Khaled Al-Arid, relative of Al-Dalbahi, said that the young man suffered first and second-degree burns to his face, head, and limbs. Al-Dalbahi was immediately transferred to King Saud Medical City in Riyadh, where he is currently undergoing treatment under the supervision of specialized medical teams.
