Ex-Premier League assistant referee jailed for 9 years for raping a man in 2009

assistant referee, has been sentenced to nine years in prison after being found guilty of rape and sexual assault of a man in 2009. The 55-year-old, who previously officiated under the name
Stephen Dorr
, was convicted at
Worcester Crown Court
for a crime he managed to evade for over a decade.
The incident
The victim, whose identity is protected, was approached by Wilson at a Worcester taxi rank. Wilson claimed he was heading to a party with 'lots of girls' and invited the man to join him at his flat. Once inside, Wilson locked the door, played pornographic videos, and forced the man into non-consensual acts, including performing a oral sex and ultimately committing rape.

'Wilson's victim was incredibly scared during his time trapped in his flat and feared for his safety as he did not know Wilson, or what he was capable of. His awful ordeal lasted for three or four hours as it was light outside when Wilson eventually allowed him to leave the flat.'
Delayed justice
Wilson managed to avoid prosecution until 2021, when the victim recognized him in a news article that detailed Wilson's previous sexual offences involving minors. The victim reported him to police, which reopened the investigation and led to Wilson's eventual conviction.
The judge at Worcester Crown Court described Wilson as "cunning and manipulative".
Prior offences and background
Wilson's criminal behaviour began surfacing publicly in 2009, the same year the assault occurred. He was found to have downloaded indecent images and communicated with underage boys. He was convicted in 2011 and served a 15-month sentence for attempting to arrange sexual activity with a person he believed to be a 15-year-old. Judge

Further reports cited by La Derecha Diario reveal Wilson also tried to lure two teenagers to a hotel in 2010, offering them money for a 'night of fun.' He also violated legal restrictions prohibiting contact with minors and failed to disclose that he travelled to the 2010 World Cup with a group that included a child.
Career in football
Wilson began refereeing in 1985 and rose through the ranks. In 2000, he was named president of the
Worcester Referees' Society
, and by 2005, he was promoted to the Premier League assistant referee roster.
At the time, he said:
'My ultimate goal is to officiate in the Premier League.'
He joined the select group officiating in the Football League shortly after, but his career was cut short later in 2009 following the first revelations of his misconduct.
Conviction and Sentence
Wilson, now residing in Rowley Regis, West Midlands, was convicted of rape and sexual assault and sentenced to nine years in prison. The court recognised the long-lasting trauma he inflicted and the manipulative, premeditated nature of his actions.

Mumbai RTO cracks whip on app-based cabs charging excess fare during heavy rains; 147 booked
Mumbai: The RTO conducted a special drive to nab aggregator cab drivers who charged excess fares, nearly two to four times the normal fares, by taking advantage of the heavy rainfall over the past three to four days. Action was taken against approximately 147 app-based taxi services. Of these, 36 taxi services charged unreasonable fares from passengers. AK-47 case: NIA searches homes in 2 dists
Patna: National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out raids at Hajipur in Vaishali and Motihari in East Champaran on Thursday in connection with an AK-47 smuggling case linked to the movement of rifles from Nagaland to Bihar. Teams searched the homes of Raju Rai and Raju Singh in Hajipur. Singh, an auto stand operator, was taken into custody for questioning after his house at Dak Bungalow Chowk was thoroughly searched for nearly six hours, including the rooftop and storage areas. Despite the extensive search, no incriminating materials were found, sources said. Another raid was conducted at Raju Rai's house in the Ghoswar locality under Kazipur police station on the basis of information provided by Singh. In East Champaran, NIA officers raided the house of Rahul Singh alias Rahul Mukhiya in Khajuriya village under Gobindganj police station and the residence of Chhedi Singh in Tharbitiya village under Pakaridayal police station. Officials said these searches too did not yield incriminating material. HC refuses to quash FIR against ex-bank official in Mumbai for 10L fraud
Mumbai: The Bombay High Court refused to quash an FIR against a former credit manager, who along with two others, allegedly cheated a housing finance company into disbursing over Rs 10 lakh loan for purchase of a room in an Andheri (E) chawl. "...we find that the FIR clearly discloses the petitioner's involvement in the loan transaction. At this stage, we cannot embark upon an inquiry as to the reliability or genuineness or otherwise of the allegations made in the FIR/complaint," said Justices Ravindra Ghuge and Gautam Ankhad on Wednesday dismissing Pravin Sawnt's petition. In Dec 2017, Sawnt resigned from Aspire Home Finance Co Ltd, now Motilal Oswal Home Finance Ltd, for better prospects. In 2018, Dadar police registered a non-cognisable complaint against the company for his unpaid salary dues. In 2019, on the complaint by the cluster legal manager of Virar (E) branch, the Virar police registered an FIR for cheating against Sawnt and two branch managers.
