Etihad Airways is launching a brand new US destination from Abu Dhabi

Hold onto your hats, travellers, there's a serious new connection coming to the big city. Etihad Airways is officially jetting off to Charlotte, North Carolina, adding some serious Southern charm to its U.S. network. Kicking off from May 4, 2026, the new four-times-a-week service makes Etihad the first airline in the region to offer direct flights to one of America's fastest-growing cities – and we're already mentally packing. Whether you're travelling for sweet tea and skyline views or heading stateside for business, this new route brings Abu Dhabi and Charlotte closer than ever, all thanks to Etihad's snazzy Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Expect that signature Etihad service in both Business and Economy, plus the joy of U.S. preclearance at Zayed International Airport, so you'll arrive in Charlotte like a local (well, almost). The addition of Charlotte marks Etihad's sixth U.S. destination, joining New York, Chicago, Washington, Boston and Atlanta (which is set to take off July 2, 2025). If you're not familiar with Charlotte, it's a powerhouse for finance, motorsport, tech and culture. It's home to Fortune 500 companies, the NASCAR Hall of Fame, leafy trails and some pretty dreamy Carolina barbecue. Not to mention, Charlotte Douglas International Airport ranked sixth in the world for aircraft movements last year – so it's kind of a big deal. With midday arrivals and early morning departures, the schedule is tailor-made for slick international connections across Asia, the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent. So whether you're chasing business deals, nature trails, or biscuits and gravy, Etihad's got your ticket to the U.S. South. Tickets are on sale now at Flying away soon? CICC Launches Dubai Branch to Strengthen China-Gulf Financial Ties

China International Capital Corporation (CICC), one of China's top investment banks, has officially opened its branch in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), reinforcing growing financial ties between China and the Gulf region. Operating under the name CICC (DIFC Branch), the new office is licensed by the Dubai Financial Services Authority and will serve as a key platform for the firm's Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) operations. It also marks a significant step in CICC's international expansion strategy. DIFC, home to several major Chinese financial institutions, serves as a strategic hub for cross-border capital flows. Nearly 30 percent of the Chinese firms operating in DIFC are Fortune 500 companies, highlighting the centre's appeal to global financial powerhouses. His Excellency Essa Kazim, Governor of DIFC, welcomed the move, noting that it strengthens the UAE-China partnership and underscores DIFC's commitment to fostering innovation and financial excellence. 'Dubai remains a top destination for Chinese investments, particularly as we align on AI and digital transformation goals,' he said. CICC Chairman Chen Liang described the new branch as a vital link in the firm's global network. 'We aim to support regional clients with tailored solutions and help Chinese enterprises seize strategic opportunities abroad,' he said, adding that the branch will play a key role in driving Belt and Road Initiative projects. With established offices in global financial centres like New York, London, and Singapore, CICC is positioning the Dubai branch as a two-way investment gateway, offering advisory, asset management, and capital market services that bridge China and the Gulf.
