Whether it's metal, organic matter, or something rarer, this tool helps you do more than just guess. Here's how to use the Scanner in

Step 1: Equip the Scanner
Once you've spotted a general deposit area (metal, organic, etc.), bring up your tool wheel
Press LB on a controller or Q on keyboard. From the menu, select the Scanner.
Now you're ready to dig deeper.
How to Use Scanner in The Alters
Step 2: Place the Probes Correctly
This part's crucial. To activate a scan, you must place at least three probes to form a closed shape.
Triangle (3 probes) = minimum
Hexagon (6 probes) = maximum
If the shape isn't closed, the Scanner does nothing.
Make sure the lines connect and form a full loop. As soon as you lock in the shape, the scan auto-triggers.
Step 3: Read the Scan Results
Once the scan kicks in, you'll see underground lines:
White lines
= You're far off.
Red lines
= You're getting warmer.
Deep red spot
= Jackpot.
Your goal? Move that closed shape around until you find the reddest section on the map.
Step 4: Use Directional Pulse (Optional)
Feeling stuck? If you've got enough suit power, hold X (on the controller) to send out a directional pulse. It'll show you which direction you need to move your next scan zone. This helps avoid random guessing and saves time (and probes).

Step 5: Reclaim and Reuse Probes
You don't have unlimited probes, but you're not stuck either. At any point, you can collect probes back by:
Holding Y (on controller) or right-clicking (on PC).
You can also overlap scan zones. The game only rescans the new areas, so there will be no wasted scans.
Step 6: Confirm the Resource Center
Once your scan hits the resource center, you'll see:
A droplet icon
A large ground symbol
That's it. All probes auto-return to your inventory. You'll now get the prompt to place your outpost directly on the spot.
With that, you've successfully used the scanner, located a deposit, and built a fully functional outpost. Keep scanning; your journey in

However, if you try more graphics-heavy games like Genshin Impact or Call of Duty: Mobile, the performance takes a hit. This is understandable, though — Acer Super ZX isn't aimed at power users or gamers. It's built for those who want a clean, fast smartphone for daily tasks, and in that regard, it does a good job. Acer Super ZX runs on Android 15 out of the box, which is great to see on a budget phone. What makes the experience even better is that it uses a near-stock Android interface. That means the UI is clean, clutter-free, and easy to use — no heavy skins or complicated menus. There's very little bloatware pre-installed, so you won't find unnecessary apps slowing things down. The overall experience feels smooth and user-friendly, especially for those who prefer a straightforward Android feel without any extra gimmicks. Acer Super ZX camera On the camera front, Acer Super ZX comes with a 64MP main sensor paired with a 2MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor. On paper, the 64MP sensor sounds promising — and in good lighting, it does deliver some surprisingly nice photos. Colours are natural with decent details. Photos look good enough for social media or casual sharing. Daylight shots come out clear and well-balanced, especially when there's enough natural light. The autofocus works fairly quickly, and the shutter response is decent. Whether you're clicking pictures of people, pets, or food, the main camera handles most scenes well during the day. However, things start to change in low-light conditions. Photos lose detail, there's visible grain, and the colours can appear washed out. There's no dedicated night mode either, which means the phone struggles in dim settings unless you have a steady hand and some ambient light. As for the 2MP depth and macro lenses, they feel more like filler features. The portrait mode is hit-or-miss — sometimes the background blur looks natural, but other times it cuts too close or too wide. The macro shots require very specific lighting and distance to look good, which most users may not bother with. On the front, the 13MP selfie camera does an okay job. It's good enough for video calls and casual selfies in daylight, but not great in challenging lighting. Overall, the camera setup on the Super ZX is just about right for the price. Acer Super ZX battery The smartphone houses a 5,000mAh battery, which is pretty standard for smartphones in this price range — and it delivers reliable all-day battery life. With regular use like calling, browsing, social media, watching a few videos, and light gaming, the phone easily lasts a full day, sometimes even more if you're not using it heavily. Acer Super ZX comes equipped with 33 watt USB Type-C fast charging support. You can go from 0 to around 50% in about 30 minutes, which is great when you're in a hurry. A full charge takes a little over an hour, which is still quite reasonable for a budget phone. Verdict At Rs 9,999, the Acer Super ZX is a strong first attempt by the company in India's budget smartphone space. It doesn't try to overpromise — instead, it focuses on getting the basics right. You get a smooth 120Hz display, clean Android 15 experience, solid battery life, and good enough performance for daily tasks. While the cameras are average and heavy gaming isn't its strength, that's acceptable given the price point. Uttar Pradesh set to develop Rs 700-crore EV manufacturing park on 500 acres in Kanpur
The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday said it is set to establish Kanpur as a major hub for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing with an investment of around Rs 700 crore. Under the Kanpur Metropolitan Development Vision - 2030, Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) will develop a cutting-edge EV park over 500 acres near Bhimsen along the dedicated freight corridor, according to an official statement. "With an estimated cost of Rs 700 crore, the project will be executed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and is poised to position Kanpur as a key player in India's EV ecosystem," the statement said. The park will house units for manufacturing electric motors, chassis, steel parts, and lithium-ion cells. Live Events Facilities for assembling lithium-ion batteries, chargers, controllers, and electronic components will also be established, according to the statement. A dedicated research and development (R&D) centre will be a vital part of the project, driving innovation and facilitating advanced product development. This R&D unit is expected to contribute not only to local progress but also to the global advancement of EV technologies, it added. The government believes the establishment of the EV park will not only position Kanpur as an EV manufacturing hub, but will also significantly boost the state's economy. "Alongside the park, an integrated EV components cluster is being developed to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in producing parts and components. This will create fresh opportunities for local entrepreneurs, startups, and generate substantial employment," it said. Its proximity to the dedicated freight corridor gives the park a strategic advantage in terms of logistics and connectivity. Well-connected by rail and road networks, it will facilitate smooth transportation of raw materials and finished goods, the statement added.
