Elon Musk's xAI makes Grok 4 free for all users days after OpenAI's GPT-5 debut

Elon Musk-owned xAI has announced that the latest version of its Grok series of AI models is now available to all users for free. Free access to Grok 4 is applicable for all users globally. Note, access to Grok 4 Heavy, which is said to be xAI's most capable variant of the AI model, is still limited to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers. The move by xAI indicates it is looking to reach more users while keeping premium features and capabilities locked behind a subscription wall. It also comes just days after OpenAI introduced its latest major AI model called GPT-5, which is also freely accessible to all users worldwide. Grok 4 has two modes, namely: Auto and Expert. In auto mode, the AI model will automatically determine whether a prompt submitted by a user requires a more detailed and elaborate response based on higher reasoning. It is said to be faster and reduces consumption of compute power as well as other resources. Expert mode, on the other hand, allows users to manually switch Grok 4 to reasoning mode if they are not satisfied with the initial AI-generated response. Last week, xAI also made an AI video generation feature called Grok Imagine available at no cost to all users located in the United States. Paid subscribers outside the US are eligible for higher request limits across all features. The Grok Imagine feature stirred controversy within days of its roll-out. Several users found that the AI feature can be used to generate explicit videos of celebrities such as Taylor Swift and Sydney Sweeney, according to a report by BBC. Meanwhile, Elon Musk recently unveiled plans to roll out ads directly within the Grok chatbot interface. Speaking in a recent X Spaces discussion, he said that additional revenue streams were necessary to cover the cost of the 'expensive' GPUs that are used to power the AI models. Musk further said that the ads would appear in-between answers and suggestions on both the Grok AI chatbot website as well as the mobile app.

After Mumbai, Elon Musk's Tesla opens showroom in Delhi's Aerocity

American electric vehicle maker Tesla plans to expand its super charging network in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Bangalore as it plans to start deliveries in India by September, a senior company official said on Monday (August 11, 2025). The company opened its second experience centre in India at Aerocity in the national capital along with the city's first Tesla Charging Station. It plans to have supercharging stations in Gurugram and Noida, besides one more in Saket, Tesla Regional Director South East Asia Isabel Fan said at the opening event. The company had opened its first experience centre in Mumbai last month, along with the launch of its Model Y with a price starting at ₹59.89 lakh. Delhi and Mumbai are priorities for the company, she said, adding, in the next few weeks, the company will open its supercharging station in Gurugram to be followed by others in Saket (South Delhi) and Noida. In the Mumbai area, Tesla is planning to set up supercharging stations at Lower Parel, Navi Mumbai and Thane to add to the existing one at Bandra Kurla Complex, Ms. Fan added. "The other new market, new states... We cannot miss Bangalore very soon," she said, adding, "we don't commit five-year plan that we cannot deliver. So whatever we share is a commitment in the upcoming [period]." Ms. Fan also said the company will soon launch its mobile service, remote diagnostics, service centre and Tesla Approved Collision Centre in India.

Neither Google nor Apple… net worth of half of employees is Rs 200 crore, company is…, CEO is…

When the world's most valuable companies are discussed, names like Google and Apple often come up. But there's one company that has recently climbed so fast and now at the very top of the global rankings. Not only is the company itself rich, but most of the people working here are millionaires. Nearly half of its employees have a net worth of more than Rs 200 crore. Its CEO is also among the world's top 10 richest individuals. This company is Nvidia. What Is Nvidia's Market Cap? Nvidia is an American chip-making giant. Its market capitalization has reached $4.455 trillion, which is higher than India's GDP. In terms of market cap, Microsoft is second, Apple third, Google fourth, and Amazon fifth. Nvidia's share in the US S&P 500 Index has reached 8% which no company has achieved since such records began in 1981. Why Are NVIDIA's Employees So Rich? According to a survey, about 78% of Nvidia employees are millionaires, and nearly half have assets worth over $25 million (around Rs 220 crore). The survey covered more than 3,000 employees. A major reason for this massive wealth is the company's stock purchase program, which allows employees to buy shares at a 15% discount. Additionally, Nvidia's stock price has skyrocketed in recent months, further boosting employees' fortunes. Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang has also seen a major rise in his wealth. His current net worth is at $159 billion and he is the 8th richest person in the world. In the past few months, his wealth has surged by over $44 billion. Why Is Company Attracting So Much Money? Nvidia's market cap has been growing rapidly, making it the most valuable company in the world. Over the past year, its stock has jumped by more than 65%, and by over 30% just since January this year. The major driver of this growth is the increase in demand for AI chips, which are used in computers and smartphones.
