Zamri, Firdaus, and cops define Madani's religious agenda
COMMENT | The inaction of the Madani state in not prosecuting two bigoted preachers and sanctioning (by silence) the actions of the police in Kelantan is evidence that the religious agenda of the state is not defined in Putrajaya.
It is instead determined by state actors independent of the three branches of government, which may be a policy agenda of Madani.
The action of the police in Kelantan is particularly egregious because the top brass continues with the disingenuous narrative that they were disrupting a 'gay sex party', even though the Health Ministry has in writing confirmed that this is an event they were involved.
The Kelantan police continue to say otherwise in defiance of what a federal agency has stated, because they understand their actions, which are based on religious dogma, would not be contradicted by the federal agency tasked with ensuring the healthcare of the citizens of this country.
Meanwhile, Bukit Aman remains silent when all this does is...

KANGAR: Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail has marked 25 years of leadership as the Raja Muda of Perlis, making significant contributions to the development of religion, social welfare, and the economy of the ummah. In a statement issued today, the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) highlighted His Royal Highness' notable achievements, including his humanitarian missions, educational collaborations, and efforts to promote religious diplomacy. "His work has had a lasting impact, particularly in strengthening the zakat and waqf management systems and enhancing the role of mosques as community hubs. "Under His Royal Highness' leadership, MAIPs has emerged as a progressive and authoritative religious institution. His leadership is a symbol of a monarchy that is close to the people and visionary in developing Perlis," read the statement. Most recently, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra led MAIPs' humanitarian missions to Kenya and Rwanda, forging strategic collaborations with international Islamic education institutions. One of his significant projects includes introducing UniSIRAJ (Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin International Islamic University) and promoting the harmonious and humanitarian values of Islam. MAIPs also celebrated Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra's milestone during the Takrim 25 Tahun Pemasyhuran (25th Anniversary of His Royal Highness' Ascension as Perlis Raja Muda) which coincided with the 2026-2030 consultative dialogue on the direction of state's Islamic affairs here on Friday. The anniversary celebration symbolised the highest appreciation for His Royal Highness' leadership over the past two and a half decades. His dedication to guiding the ummah, upholding religion, and serving the people of Perlis was honoured through a special ceremony, which included a trilingual poetry performance titled Ungkap Kata Puji Mahkota – حملة المدحِ. In his speech during the dialogue, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the direction of Islamic affairs in Perlis for the 2026–2030 period. His focus will remain on ensuring Perlis remains a harmonious, knowledgeable, and prosperous state through an integrated and impactful approach. Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra was officially installed as Raja Muda of Perlis on Oct 12, 2000, at the Balairong Seri, Istana Arau, following the proclamation of his father, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, as Raja of Perlis on April 16 of the same year. Since then, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra has carried the responsibility of being the heir to the Perlis throne and the president of MAIPs, advising the Raja of Perlis on Islamic affairs and Malay customs. – Bernama

Mother files new police report over bruising on Zara Qairina's body
Noraidah KOTA KINABALU (Aug 3): The mother of Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir has lodged a fresh police report after recalling possible signs of physical trauma on her daughter's body — nearly three weeks after her tragic death at a school hostel in Papar. Noraidah Lamat filed the report at the Sipitang police station on Sunday, stating she had remembered seeing bruises on Zara's back while preparing her body for burial. Her legal counsel, Hamid Ismail and Shahlan Jufri, said the memory was triggered during questioning about the state of Zara's body during the Islamic funeral washing ritual at Queen Elizabeth Hospital I on July 17. 'Our client did not mention this earlier because she had completely forgotten due to her overwhelming grief,' they said in a statement. The lawyers asserted that this new detail warrants a fresh investigation into Zara Qairina's death, despite recent remarks by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who said the police had completed their probe and would submit the investigation papers to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) next week. 'Zara Qairina's grave must be exhumed, and a post-mortem must be carried out to determine the exact cause of death and the possibility of foul play,' the lawyers urged. Meanwhile, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun confirmed that four police reports have been filed in relation to the case, including the one lodged by Noraidah. He added that the investigation paper is currently undergoing a final review at Bukit Aman before being referred to the AGC. 'Any further action will depend on the AGC once the case file is submitted,' he said. Zara Qairina, a student at SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha Limauan in Papar, was found unconscious around 4am on July 16, believed to have fallen from the third floor of her dormitory. She succumbed to her injuries the next day at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital. Her death has sparked widespread concern and debate, especially on social media, with renewed calls for justice and reform in handling student safety and bullying in boarding schools.

Anwar making tough calls in people's interest, says Ramanan
KUALA LUMPUR: The government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim remains steadfast in its commitment to prioritising the people's interests by focusing on economic recovery, strengthening national unity and ensuring political stability. Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Deputy Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the Madani government's approach was not limited to short-term gains but was framed with a long-term vision to guarantee the well-being of all Malaysians, regardless of race or background. "We can see how the prime minister consistently puts the people first. "In terms of the economy, various initiatives have been introduced to stimulate growth, stabilise the cost of living and ensure fair job opportunities for all," said Ramanan, who is also PKR vice-president. He said this after officiating a casual engagement session with nearly 400 students of SMK Subang Bestari at Help University today. Ramanan said recent announcements under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), alongside efforts to strengthen micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), is clear evidence that the government is serious about driving post-pandemic economic recovery amid global uncertainties. On unity, he described the Malaysia Madani concept as a crucial foundation in bringing together the country's multiracial and multi-religious society. "Unity is not just a slogan. It is translated through inclusive policies, fair distribution of assistance and continued support for all communities. Ramanan added that the political stability achieved through the cooperation within the unity government must be preserved for the continuity of national development. "No development can be achieved if the nation's politics remain unstable. "What we have today is a stable government led by an experienced leader who is willing to make tough decisions for the good of the people," he said. He said the public must not be swayed by negative narratives aimed at causing unease and division. "The people must be wise in their judgment. Under the Madani government, welfare is protected, economic opportunities are expanding and the nation is on the right track. "This is not the time for narrow politics, but the time to unite and build a better future," he said. Ramanan also urged Malaysians to continue placing their trust in Anwar's leadership, which he said was grounded in integrity, inclusivity and courage in defending the people's interests.
