Delta plane diverted when unruly passenger undresses mid-flight
One witness on the flight told San Diego's NBC 7 she suspects drugs or alcohol may have been a factor in Saturday's incident.
'He kept saying 'I wanna go home, I wanna go home, I wanna see my family,'' according to traveler Rodelyn Kupfersmid.
Passengers reportedly spent 30 minutes trying to calm the the unidentified man as he took off his shirt while screaming. The flight crew then announced that DL731 was being diverted to Dallas-Fort Worth roughly two hours into the trip.
Authorities reportedly removed the man from the aircraft without incident once the plane landed. The flight continued to California after a 90-minute delay and safely reached its destination.
'Delta has zero tolerance for unruly behavior as safety for our customers and crew always comes first,' a Delta representative said in a statement to the Daily News. 'We thank our customers for their patience, and we apologize for the delay in their travels.'
It's unclear if any charges have been filed against the disruptive passenger.

Aug. 11 (UPI) -- A 25-year-old New York man shot and killed in Puerto Rico while attending a Bad Bunny concert. Queens resident Kevin Mares was fatally shot Sunday night at a San Juan nightclub in the La Perla neighborhood of the commonwealth U.S. island's capital city a little after 4 a.m. local time, according to police. Officials said the East Elmhurst man was an innocent bystander when gunfire erupted. A 46-year-old local man and his sister, 45, were both injured but survived. The incident took place at the nightclub Refugio de Hombres Maltratados in the La Perla neighborhood, an area known for crime in the coastal town. Investigators said an argument broke out and a person pulled out a gun and started shooting. "They were standing in the wrong place at the wrong time," Claudia Saenz, a family friend, told the Daily News. Meanwhile, no arrests have been made and no suspects named. Local police, according to Det. Arnaldo Ruiz, were working with "very little" information about the incident. In a statement posted to social media, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said he was heartbroken that his life was "tragically ripped away due to gun violence in Puerto Rico." "Condolences and prayers are with all of Kevin's loved ones grieving this unimaginable loss," stated the embattled Democrat-turned-Independent mayor currently up for re-election in a hotly contested mayoral race. According to witnesses in recorded reports, Mares attended Saturday night's Bad Bunny concert in San Juan with his girlfriend and friends. According to Mare's mother, he was planning to propose marriage in the fall to his girlfriend of seven years. The family, meanwhile, is working with Puerto Rican authorities to return Mare's remains part of an active investigation in America's island territory, which is reportedly estimated to cost the grieving family at least $23,000 with a GoFundMe page setup to aid in the process.

The grieving mother of a 2-year-old boy tossed to his death in the East River is suing the city and the NYPD for $60 million, accusing them of failing to try to save him when told he'd been taken by his dad. Cierra Carroll, 17, claims in a new complaint that police misclassified her call when she reported little Montrell Williams missing in May — with someone even hanging up the phone after asking, 'So what?' 'Montrell Williams should be here today if it wasn't for the NYPD being neglectful in finding him,' family spokesman Rev. Kevin McCall said at a press conference outside the NYPD 40th Precinct stationhouse on Friday, according to the Daily News. 4 Montrell Williams, 2, was killed when he was tossed off a Bronx overpass on May 11, allegedly by his father. 'No amount of money will bring him back,' McCall said. 'However, the NYPD has to be held responsible.' Carroll said she called police on May 11 after Montrell's father, 20-year-old Arius Williams, failed to return him — but cops blew her off when she called 911, she claims. 'They told me not to follow him and to go to the police to file a complaint,' Carroll told the Daily Mail. 'I told the police that he had a warrant, they said, 'So what?'' Flight attendant on plane that flipped over in Toronto sues Delta for $75M, claims pilots and crew were unqualified
Flight attendant Vanessa Miles filed a lawsuit alleging that Delta cut corners in several areas leading to a February plane crash in Toronto. A flight attendant for Delta subsidiary Endeavor, who was a passenger on the fateful February flight from Minneapolis to Toronto that capsized on the tarmac, is suing her employee for $75 million, alleging that the airline was reckless and negligent and essentially put everybody on the flight at risk from the beginning, according to People. According to the lawsuit filed by Vanessa Miles in the Eastern District of Michigan, 'This accident was caused, at least in part, by Defendants knowing assigning an inexperienced and inadequately trained pilot to operate the flight. Defendants cut corners on safety by rushing pilots through training programs and knowingly putting passengers at risk with inexperienced flight crew.' Miles claims that she suffered several injuries, both severe and permanent physical and mental injuries, 'including a fractured shoulder, traumatic brain injury, back injuries, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, among other things.' She is suing Delta for $75 million dollars. According to her lawyer, Madeline Sinkovich, an attorney with Mike Morse Law Firm, 'Ms. Miles suffered significant injuries when Delta Air Lines/Endeavor Air Flight 4819 crash-landed in Toronto after preventable safety, training, and evacuation failures, as alleged in our complaint. We are pursuing full accountability and compensation in court.' Miles alleges that she was left unconscious as a result of the plane crash, and when she came to, she was inverted, hanging upside down soaked in jet fuel and surrounded by smoke before falling to the floor after she unbuckled her seat belt. The February 17 plane crash occurred on an Endeavor flight from Minneapolis to Toronto. In a March report issued by Canada's Transportation Safety Board, the plane descended too quickly; when the plane hit the tarmac, the landing gear collapsed, leading to the plane flipping over. All 80 people on board were evacuated and survived the crash; all injured parties were transported to local hospitals. The Daily Mail reports that the captain, thus far unidentified, is an 18-year veteran of Endeavor Air, having flown for a total of over 3,570 hours across his career; he is also a training instructor. The co-pilot was a one-year employee of Endeavor who had flown 1,422 hours over her career. Delta released a statement at the time of the crash saying, 'For everyone at Endeavor Air and Delta, nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and our people. That's why we remain fully engaged as participants in the investigation led by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada. Out of respect for the integrity of this work that will continue through their final report, Endeavor Air and Delta will refrain from comment.' A Delta spokesperson declined to comment on Miles' lawsuit, citing their policy not to comment on pending legislation but, according to the New York Post, supports Canada's continued investigation efforts.
