New Mississippi State commit Adam Land 'can't wait to get to Stark Vegas'

The spring season was very good to Adam Land.
The Lynn Haven (Fla.) Mosley tight end saw his list roll beyond a dozen scholarship offers, but he continued to make stops in Starkville over about all other contenders in his recruitment.

The Bulldogs returned the favor, from Jeff Lebby to Jon Cooper visiting him on multiple occasions this spring alone. It built comfort on both sides and the rising-senior elected to end his recruitment with a pair of phone calls on Tuesday.
Mississippi State suddenly added a 10th pledge to the class of 2026.
"I have had a different relationship with Coach Coop since the beginning and have been to Starkville four or five times since last summer," Land told Rivals. "It just feels like my place.
"It's always felt laid back and comfortable."
The three-sport standout was set to make an official visit to MSU next weekend, but saw no point in waiting to deliver the good news to the staff.

"Every time we have been to State they show us something different," he said. "I was waiting for my official and then just decided there was no reason to wait so I called Coach Cooper last night and made it official.
"Coach Lebby called me today (Tuesday) and I guess that really made it official."

Land was scheduled to see Pittsburgh this weekend, but he tells Rivals that trip has been canceled.

The Floridian is all Bulldog at this point, with Cooper's consistency sitting as a key reason for the SEC commitment.
"Coach Cooper was at my first ever mega camp last May and he followed the tight end group and coached me up between reps," he said. "Two days later he invited me to come to Starkville to camp and two days after that I was there working out...
"About five months later, he and State were my first D1 offer and we have been tighter every week since."
Also a standout basketball and baseball player, Land projects like a flex tight end who operates best in space as a matchup problem for smaller defenders.

Former NBA All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins was suspended for the rest of the season in Puerto Rico's basketball league and his team terminated his contract after a brawl with fans during a game earlier this week. The 34-year-old Cousins, who played for seven teams during his NBA career, made an obscene gesture, exchanged words and grabbed the arm of a fan sitting courtside Monday night before being taken away by his teammates. Cousins received a second technical foul for his actions and was ejected. In the tunnel heading to the locker room, he argued with another fan while people in the stands threw liquids toward him. Cousins received a $4,250 fine and could face an additional one of $5,750, the Baloncesto Superior Nacional league announced late Tuesday. "As an organization, we strongly condemn any form of violence or provocation, whether on or off the field. Safety, respect, and sportsmanship are non-negotiable values for this franchise," the Mets said in a news release. It was Cousins' second season playing in Puerto Rico. He was averaging 18.2 points per game with nine rebounds for a team that has a 9-18 record. In his previous stint with the Mets in the 2023 season, Cousins helped the team reach the semifinals. In the NBA, Cousins averaged 19.6 points and 10.2 rebounds over 11 seasons. The four-time All-Star's best season came with Sacramento in 2016-17, when he averaged 27.8 points. After the NBA, besides his stop in Puerto Rico, Cousins also played in the Taiwan and Mongolia basketball leagues.

Five-star Louisiana QB schedules visit to Ohio State as recruitment heats up Louisiana native and 2027 quarterback Elijah Haven will make a trip to Ohio State on Thursday, according to On3's Mick Walker. The Buckeyes are expected to make Haven an offer while he's in Columbus, adding to a host of Power Four offers. Heading into his junior year of high school football at the Durham School, Haven possesses offers from five SEC schools. The Tigers made an offer to Haven in September, and On3's Prediction Machine gives them a 40.9% chance to land his commitment. However, it's too early to make a true prediction of where he will land. 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals all rank Haven as the No. 1 quarterback in the class. On3 isn't quite as high, slotting Haven as the No. 11 quarterback in the class. When it's all said and done, Haven has a chance to be one of the highest-ranked quarterback recruits in Louisiana history. Haven is one of three priority QBs for LSU in the 2027 class. Garrett Nussmeier's younger brother, Colton Nussmeier, is also on the board. Haven isn't the only Louisiana QB making waves in the 2027 class -- there's also Peyton Houston, who Rivals ranks as the No. 6 QB in the class.
