Previewing the 2025 Season for Penn State OL Eagan Boyer with his player profile
Going into the 2025 football season, Nittany Lions Wire will examine each player listed on the Penn State roster. Over the preseason, each profile will cover the player's background, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for James Franklin this season.
Offensive lineman Eagan Boyer quickly found the field as a true freshman, appearing in four games while maintaining his redshirt status. His size and physicality are key traits that allowed him to earn snaps in a deep position room loaded with talented upperclassmen. Here's a preview of Boyer heading into the 2025 season.
Preseason Player Profile
Hometown: Cornelius, North Carolina
Height: 6-8
Weight: 290 lb
Class in 2025: Redshirt freshman
Recruiting Rankings
Class of 2024: Consensus 3-star recruit, No. 45 offensive tackle per 247Sports
Boyer may not have had the recruiting status of some of his peers, but he held offers from Clemson, Michigan, Florida, Tennessee and others during his recruitment.
Depth Chart Overview
Penn State's depth is deep at offensive tackle, returning three players who started five or more games last season (Drew Shelton, Nolan Rucci, Anthony Donkoh). While the starting roles are seemingly locked up, Boyer can work his way into the two-deep in 2025 and play meaningful snaps. He missed the Blue-White Game while wearing a sling on his arm, but he'll likely be healthy in time for the season.

Notre Dame offers 4-star 2027 Pennsylvania wide receiver Matthew Gregory

When Ja'Juan Seider made the move from Penn State to Notre Dame as its running backs coach, it opened the doors to many players in the state of Pennsylvania. The connections helped the Irish, as on Wednesday, a new offer went out to a Keystone State prospect in 2027 wide receiver Matthew Gregory. The 6-foot, 1-inch and 170-pound prospect is currently listed as an athlete, but will most likely play on offense when he arrives on a college campus. Advertisement Gregory is ranked as the No. 106 overall player by the 247Sports Composite in his class, making him one of the nation's best. He has a solid offer list at this early moment, as Notre Dame joined teams like Florida State, Missouri, Wisconsin and the Nittany Lions. He had an impressive sophomore season, accounting for 1,100 all-purpose yards with 16 total touchdowns. On defense Gregory picked off six passes as well, earning first-team all-league honors. Speed is a big part of his game, as he's been clocked at 4.35 when running a 40-yard dash. The hope is that this offer from the Irish get Gregory to make a visit to South Bend in the near future, and if that does happen, Notre Dame could be putting themselves in a great position to land the top prospect. Oregon Ducks add another 5-star visitor to this weekend's list

The Oregon Ducks were kicking off the month of June with a bang, hosting a long list of top-ranked players on official visits starting on Friday. The list just got a bit more star-studded. On Thursday, it was announced that 5-star safety Jett Washington had reshuffled his visit schedule and will now be coming to Eugene this weekend for his OV at Oregon. Washington was originally scheduled to take his OV to Eugene starting next weekend, but he moved things up to join the group starting on Friday. According to 247Sports, Washington is rated as the No. 18 overall player in the class, and the No. 2 safety. Standing at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, Washington is a massive defensive back and would offer a lot of length in the secondary that Oregon has been pursuing over the past couple of recruiting cycles. Washington is reportedly very high on what the Ducks can offer. According to On3's Steve Wiltfong, Oregon should be considered one of the favorites to land Washington this cycle. Need a break?
