'Desperate Housewives' will return with a fresh take on iconic series
A new show in the vein of "Desperate Housewives" is in development.
Onyx Collective confirmed to "Good Morning America" on Wednesday that the hit ABC series will be reimagined in a new project: "Wisteria Lane."
According to a logline, "Wisteria Lane" is "a fun, sexy, darkly comedic soap/mystery, in the vein of 'Desperate Housewives,' set around a group of 5 different friends and sometimes frenemies who all live on a picture-perfect cul de sac called 'Wisteria Lane.'"

The logline continues, "On the surface, all the Wisteria neighbors are living the dream. Beautiful homes, gorgeous families, shiny SUVs in the driveway -- but behind those white picket fences and smiling Insta posts, are SECRETS."
The new project will come from Kerry Washington's production company, Simpson Street, and 20th Television.

"Desperate Housewives" aired for eight seasons. It came to an end on May 13, 2012.
The series followed the lives of four women as seen from the eyes of their friend and neighbor, who dies in the first episode. Throughout the series, the women face daily struggles of family life, as well as secrets, crimes and more amid their seemingly idyllic neighborhood.
It starred Marcia Cross (Bree Van de Kamp), Brenda Strong (Mary Alice Young), Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer) and Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo).

NBC's Sunday Night Football ranked No. 1 for the season — but was down 4% year-over-year — with an average audience of 18.9 million total viewers (including Live+7 playback). CBS' Tracker (the most-watched entertainment and scripted program) placed a distant second with 11 million viewers, followed by ABC's share of Monday Night Football (10.3 million). Kelly Thiebaud, a Daytime Emmy winner for her original run as General Hospital's Dr. Britt Westbourne, is heading back to the ABC sudser — two years after her character died at the hands of a serial killer.
