People Are Sharing The Toddler Parenting Trends They've Absolutely Had It With, And I'm Curious If You Agree

Yahoo4 hours ago

Parenting in the age of social media is a unique beast.
Between information overload and influencer overwhelm, there's a fervor for particular trends or products that can be A Lot. Recently, Reddit user ActualEmu1251 shared the toddler parenting trends they've HAD it with, and they made some points. Here's what they had to say:
"Sensory bins: too much planning and work for five minutes of entertainment and a huge mess.
Overly curated play/activities: Just let kids be bored sometimes and figure out what entertains them.
Gift bags for kids attending birthday parties: I refuse to pay for a birthday party and also provide gifts to guests. Also, I don't want a bunch of Dollar Store garbage myself.
Toddler food art and fancy plates: Are parents seriously cutting up sandwiches into cute little shapes or making Bluey pancakes? Most of my son's food is half-assed, cut up, and just piled on his high chair tray.
Parents talking it out with their young toddler when they can hardly understand logic: keep it short and effective — 'that's dangerous!' or 'stop it'.
Performative parenting: acting like the best parent in the world, but also ignoring your kids for hours while developing the perfect social media post.
Constantly referencing leaps (Wonder Weeks app) and regressions: most of it is loosely based on real science and studies. All kids go through phases, so don't get hung up on trying to connect it all."
ActualEmu1251 also asked other parents what trends they're so done with, and even more points were made:
1."The 'holiday baskets' for every single holiday like Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, July 4…Like, your child does not need a new book and holiday t-shirt and toy every time there is a special day!"
—scrunchie_one
2."Over-the-top, elaborate birthday parties. No, I am not going to make a balloon arch or rent a bouncy castle or have a snack table with an array of different colored matching desserts and an original cocktail named after my child."
—not_the_name_wanted
3."The gift opening at parties drives me nuts! It just makes all the other kids jealous that they can't play with all the stuff at the party."
—Npete90
4."Sad beige/grey/'pastel' toys and clothes for babies and toddlers because parents want their homes to look cute on social media instead of letting their kids enjoy color."
—madicienne
5."Not saying 'good job/well done' to kids and instead saying stuff like 'you really worked hard at that'."
—Objective_Sam
6."I used to think wooden toys were cute and fancy, and now I just think of how dangerous they can be when turned into projectiles."
—09percent
7."I hate the whole Montessori toddler thing, like please don't show me a video about how my 3-year-old should have a whole functional miniature kitchen so she can cook eggs by herself. I can just cook her eggs for her. She's 3."
—happyflowermom
8."Why do I need to create fake mud with cereal when we have real mud, grass, stones, etc., outside for free?"
—Difficult_Carry_4918
9."Someone telling you, 'you only get 18 summers with them' when every day feels like 12 days and every year feels like a century."
—DueEntertainer0
10."I hate being called 'mama' by anyone but my child. Hate."
—MGFT3000
11."I kept trying to get into a toy rotation habit and then realized that I don't care to spend my energy making sure my kid is excited about his toys. Some get naturally kind of hidden or put away for a while, and then he's happy to see them again, but I truly don't care if he's bored with them — he can go find something else to do in that case. I don't need to curate a selection of toys every week."
—Imaginary-Market-214
12."The mommy wine culture and promoting the idea that there is no other way to relax and that you need to drink excessively to parent your children."
—fireflygirl1013
13."I hate how boy clothes have essentially two vibes as they get older, sad beige baby or sport mode (black and other primary colors). It takes so much effort to dress a boy in bright colors."
—gennygemgemgem
14."The gendered everything! I'm not super hippy dippy or anything, but mine was never into astronauts, monster trucks, dinosaurs, etc., at all, but somehow it seemed like we had no choice but to buy items with these printed on them. And the fact that everything still has to be either bright blue or pink in this day and age. Just annoying."
—SayonaraSiren
15."Feeling like I have to research everything to death to find 'the best'. Last summer I spent WEEKS trying to find a sunscreen that was 'clean', reef-safe, etc. and not horrifically expensive. This summer I bought the Banana Boat 360 because I'm not wrestling my toddler every time we want to go in the sun to spread mineral goo all over his body and then ultimately have to scrub the excess off in the bath that night. I spray him, use a makeup brush to put some Up&Up brand mineral lotion on his face, and we go out. End of story."
—ArtemisGirl242020
16."Consultants. On any possible topic. Sleep consultant, potty training consultant, weaning consultant, lactation consultant, first bath consultant, you name it! This whole industry feels predatory. They make moms/dads feel incapable of parenting mostly through social media, just to monetize all these services."
—farasfere
17."I've seen moms on Instagram put makeup on their toddlers (I'm not talking makeup for pageants) like blush, eyelash extensions and tinted gloss."
—SignificantIce7914
18."Exploiting children on social media for likes, attention and/or $$$."
—fireflygirl1013

Trump attends UFC championship fight in New Jersey, taking a break from politics, Musk feud

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — President Donald Trump walked out to a thunderous standing ovation just ahead of the start of the UFC pay-per-view card at the Prudential Center on Saturday night, putting his public feud with tech billionaire Elon Musk on hold to instead watch the fierce battles inside the cage. Trump was accompanied by UFC President Dana White and the pair headed to their cageside seats to Kid Rock's 'American Bad Ass.' Trump and White did the same for UFC's card last November at Madison Square Garden, only then they were joined by Musk. Trump shook hands with fans and supporters — a heavyweight lineup that included retired boxing champion Mike Tyson — on his way to the cage. Trump was joined by his daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, along with son Eric Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Trump shook hands with the UFC broadcast team that included Joe Rogan. Rogan hosted Trump on his podcast for hours in the final stages of the campaign last year. UFC fans went wild for Trump and held mobile devices in their outstretched arms to snap pictures of him. Trump arrived in time for the start of a card set to include two championship fights. Julianna Peña and Merab Dvalishvili were scheduled to each defend their 135-pound championships. UFC fighter Kevin Holland won the first fight with Trump in the building, scaled the cage and briefly chatted with the President before his post-fight interview. ___ AP sports:

WWE Money In The Bank 2025 Results, Review And Match Ratings

WWE Money in the Bank 2025 emanated from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California and featured just five matches, headlined by John Cena and Logan Paul vs. Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso as well as the men's and women's ladder matches. Naomi kicked off the show by winning a fantastic women's Money in the Bank match, securing herself a guaranteed world title shot at any time and place over the next year. After Seth Rollins won the men's Money in the Bank as expected, R-Truth made a surprising return to assist Cody Rhodes in the show's shocking main event. Here are full results for WWE Money in the Bank 2025. In a star-studded opening match, WWE's six women's stars did exactly what WWE fans expected them to do: tore the house down. At the 2024 WWE Money in the Bank event, WWE's women delivered the best ladder match in the show's brief history. In 2025, Bliss, Guilia, Ripley, Naomi, Vaquer and Perez somehow managed to top it. Although this bout wasn't filled with as many crazy spots as last year's match, it was well-paced and action-packed from start to finish. All six stars got a chance to shine, with Ripley and Bliss coming across as the massive stars they already are. In the end, Naomi capitalized on a golden opportunity by pushing both Bliss and Ripley off the ladder and sending them crashing to the mat. This paved the way for Naomi to climb the ladder and grab the briefcase. Now, Naomi, the overwhelming favorite to win the match, captured the 2025 WWE Money in the Bank briefcase, and with every previous women's MITB winner going onto capture a title, she's a safe bet to do the same. Match Rating: 3.75 stars A late addition to the card after what transpired at Saturday afternoon's Worlds Collide event, Dominik Mysterio vs. Octagon Jr. was short but sweet. There wasn't much of a story going into the bout given that it was put together literally hours earlier. Mysterio generated a babyface-like reaction from the crowd as he's done of late, while the Intuit Dome audience didn't appear to be too familiar with Octagon Jr., as expected. Mysterio was able to get the win quickly after a brief distraction from Liv Morgan allowed Mysterio to trip Octagon Jr. on the top rope, hit a frog splash and get the win. Match Rating: 2 stars Just like their match at last month's WWE Backlash event, Valkyria and Lynch demonstrated that they have tremendous chemistry, going at it in an evenly matched bout that looked like it could have gone either way. Mid-match, the crowd surprisingly interrupted the match with 'We want Truth!" chants, a reference to the recently released R-Truth. But Lynch and Valkyria were able to get the fans back into the match when Lynch hit Valkyria with an avalanche Man-Handle Slam from the middle rope that shockingly only got a two-count. Just a few minutes later, a frustrated Lynch engaged in a back-and-forth pinning sequence with Valkyria. Just when it looked like she couldn't get the win, Lynch held Valkyria's tights to pin her for the victory and become just the second Intercontinental Champion in WWE history. It was the second consecutive 'banger' by Valkyria and Lynch, and the controversial finish suggest that a rubber match, likely some sort of gimmick match, is coming soon. Match Rating: 4 stars If you don't like run-ins or interference, then you likely didn't enjoy the 2025 men's WWE Money in the Bank Ladder Match. If you aren't a fan of predictability, you may not have liked it much, either. The show's semi-main event was an exciting car crash-style ladder match, which has become typical of these bouts over the year. There was never a dull moment from the time the bell rang, but the match will likely be remembered more for the WWE stars who showed up announced. Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed interfered on behalf of Seth Rollins in an attempt to help him win the match. They failed, at least initially, thanks to more interference, this time from Jacob Fatu, who finally turned on Solo Sikoa in a widely expected but wildly entertaining moment. Ultimately, however, Fatu's interference inadvertently allowed Rollins to get the win, which was the most obvious possible result WWE could have booked. While the amount of interference was certainly overdone, the match never got boring, Penta really shined, Fatu became a bigger star, and Rollins cemented himself as a top heel. That's a win any which way you slice it. Match Rating: 4.25 stars The main event tag team match started off slow and plodding, but it picked up when John Cena and Logan Paul began to have some miscommunications. A pivotal turning point of the match came when Paul inadvertently hit a frog splash on Cena, which allowed Uso to nail Paul with a spear and help the babyface duo even the score momentarily. It didn't last long. As Paul was able to nail Rhodes with a Paulverizer, things looked like they were back on track for the heel duo. Then, Rhodes hit Paul with a top rope superplex, Uso hit Paul with an Uso splash, and Cena hit an AA on both Uso and Rhodes but only got a two-count. As Cena went for an AA on Rhodes on the announce table, Uso was able to interfere and hit Cena with a spear. Seconds later, Paul hit an incredible springboard moonsault through Uso that sent him crashing through the announce table. What an unbelievable display of athleticism. With the referee distracted after Paul's splash, Cena hit Rhodes with the WWE Championship and seemingly was set up to win the match. Then, a man wearing hoodie and mask showed up to blast Cena with the title belt. He revealed himself to be R-Truth as the Intuit Dome crowd went berserk for the star who was reportedly let go from WWE. That was a shocker for the ages. Rhodes capitalized and hit Cena with the Cross Rhodes to get the win in the main event of WWE Money in the Bank 2025. In an instant, Match Rating: 3.75 stars
