
Boys badminton trials held for Punjab Games
LAHORE: Trials for the category of boys badminton for Chief Minister Punjab Games were held under the auspices of Punjab Sports Department, here at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC) Gymnasium Hall on Wednesday.
Over 50 male players from all tehsils of Lahore participated in the trials under the supervision of senior badminton coaches Tayyab Sohail, Usman and M Farid.
The selected players from tehsil level will participate in district level competitions of Chief Minister Punjab Summer Games, which will provide a suitable platform to hundreds of talented male and female athletes from across the province to demonstrate their hidden sports potential.
Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry said, "The Chief Minister Punjab Summer Games will be held at the district level from June 1 to 5".

President's Trophy Grade-II: MIT Solutions, Sahir Associates to contest
LAHORE: MIT Solutions and Sahir Associates will go head to head in the final of the President's Trophy Grade-II at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium from 29th May to 1st June as the 2024-25 domestic season comes to an end. The winner of the tournament will also qualify for the departmental first-class tournament - President's Trophy Grade-I 2025-26. The two teams have played eight three-day matches each and will get a chance to bag Rs five million if they win the final; a non-first-class four-day affair, while the runners up will bag Rs 2.5 million. Out of a total prize pot of Rs 7.75 million, there will also be awards for individual performances. In the Group stage, Sahir Associates topped the Group D by winning four matches, while two of their games were drawn. Their quarter final and semi final fixtures against Ghani institute and JDW Sugar Mills respectively were drawn but they advanced to the next stage based on first innings lead both in the games. Sahir Associates' wicketkeeper-batter Asim Ali Nasir is second on the leading run-scorer list with 735 runs in 12 innings just six behind PAF's Atteq-ur-Rehman who sits atop. Asim has affected 23 dismissals behind the stumps. On the bowling front Mohammad Bilawal and Shahid Ali; both left arm pacers, have aided Sahir Associates' campaign with 31 and 22 scalps, respectively. MIT Solutions, who finished second in Group C with three wins, one loss and two draws out of six games, too took first innings lead in their drawn quarter final and semi final matches against Kingsmen and Wing 999, respectively. The batting duo of Muhammad Afzal (491 runs) and Husnain Nadeem (483 runs) has been prolific for MIT solutions. Pakistan, Bangladesh T20I series starts today
LAHORE: The first match of the three T20 International series between Pakistan and Bangladesh will be played here at Gadaffi stadium today. The second match is scheduled for Friday (May 30) while the third and final T20 International will be staged on Sunday (June 1). Pakistan will be led by Salman Ali Agha, while Bangladesh will be captained by Litton Das. Bangladesh cricket team has already reached here. On Tuesday, Bangladesh cricket team held a training session as a part of preparations ahead of the series. All three matches will begin at 8pm local time. The PCB looks forward to hosting Bangladesh and delivering an exciting series that promises high-quality cricket under lights at Gaddafi Stadium. The PCB has also announced that Sri Lanka's Ranjan Madugalle, who is a member of ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, will lead the playing control teams for the three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Lahore. Madugalle, who has also officiated the most international cricket matches (804) across three formats as Match Referee, also led playing control teams in seven matches of the recently concluded HBL PSL X. For the first T20I, Asif Yaqoob and Rashid Riaz – both part of the PCB International Panel of Umpires, will be the on-field umpires. Ahsan Raza, member of ICC Elite Panel of Umpires will be the third umpire, while Faisal Khan Afreedi, an ICC International Panel Umpire, will act as the fourth umpire. In the second T20I, Rashid Riaz will join Faisal Khan Afreedi to perform the on-field duties while Ahsan Raza will be the third umpire. Asif Yaqoob will be the fourth umpire.
