Nick Castellanos returns to Phillies lineup after benching for 'inappropriate comment'
MIAMI (AP) — Nick Castellanos returned to the Philadelphia Phillies lineup for their game against the Miami Marlins on Wednesday after being benched the day before for 'an inappropriate comment' the outfielder made when he was pulled for a defensive replacement on Monday.
'It's gone. It's gone. We're good,' manager Rob Thomson said Wednesday of the benching, which ended Castellanos' streak of 236 consecutive starts.

Castellanos played right field and singled in four at-bats against the Marlins on Monday before Johan Rojas replaced him in the bottom of the eighth with Philadelphia up 3-1. Max Kepler moved to right and Rojas played center.
Thomson said after Monday's game he had intended to insert Rojas behind Philadelphia's right-handed pitching and indicated that could be the plan moving forward.
Thomson added Wednesday that approach 'just depends on the situations.'
When asked if he would be OK with taking Castellanos out in a similar situation on Wednesday, Thomson said, 'Probably not today."
The plan was also for Castellanos to only be benched for Tuesday's game, Thomson added. The Phillies lost that matchup 8-3.

The 33-year-old Castellanos is in his fourth season with the Phillies, who are second in the NL East. He's hitting .278 with seven homers and 36 RBIs.

Buss family agrees to sell majority stake of Los Angeles Lakers in reported record $10B deal
The Buss family has agreed to sell majority ownership of the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most storied franchises in all of sports, to Los Angeles Dodgers owner Mark Walter, a source familiar with the agreement told CNN. The valuation of the agreement is approximately $10 billion, representing the most lucrative deal for a professional sports team, according to the Associated Press. ESPN's Shams Charania was first to report the agreed sale. CNN has reached out to the Lakers and Dodgers for comment. Aside from being the chairman and controlling owner of the Dodgers, Walter is the CEO and founder of the holding company TWG Global. The diversified business also holds stakes in the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks, the Premier League's Chelsea FC and the newly formed Cadillac Formula One team, which is scheduled to make its debut on the grid in 2026, among other sports franchises. On Wednesday, TWG said Walter is entering into an agreement to acquire additional interests in the Lakers. He has owned a minority stake in the franchise since 2021. Basketball Hall of Famer Jerry Buss bought the Lakers in 1979 and oversaw the franchise winning 10 NBA titles. After his death in 2013, his daughter Jeanie Buss took over the role as governor of one of the most successful franchises in sports. Diamondbacks OF Carroll exits game at Toronto after being hit on left hand by pitch
TORONTO — Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll exited Wednesday's 8-1 loss at Toronto in the eighth inning after he was hit on his left hand by a pitch. Manager Torey Lovullo said X-rays did not reveal a fracture. Carroll stayed in to run the bases after being hit by a 91 mph sinker from rookie left-hander Justin Bruihl. But he was replaced before the bottom half of the eighth. Alek Thomas took Carroll's spot in the lineup, with Tim Tawa moving from center field to right. Lovullo said Carroll was hit on the fleshy part of the hand below his pinkie, resulting in a contusion. 'It's a very dangerous spot when you're talking about that bone on the pinkie side,' Lovullo said. 'It got a lot of meat, so we're grateful for that.' Carroll's status for Thursday's series finale was unclear. 'I wouldn't be surprised if he tells me he wants to play tomorrow,' Lovullo said.
