Former Springbok Dawie Snyman dies
Former Springbok utility back and legendary Western Province coach Dawie Snyman has passed away following a recent diagnosis of leukemia. He was 76. Snyman, a product of Grey College in Bloemfontein, moved to the Cape to further his studies and rugby career at Stellenbosch University. He went on to earn 10 Test caps for the Springboks between 1972 and 1977, representing South Africa with distinction during a turbulent era in the sport's history. Following his playing career, Snyman left an indelible mark as a coach, leading Western Province to a record five consecutive Currie Cup titles from 1982 to 1986 – a golden era for the union that cemented his legacy in South African rugby. Rugby excellence ran in the family. Snyman's brother, Jackie, also played for the Springboks in the 1970s. Jackie's son Dawie currently serves as an assistant coach for the Stormers. The South African rugby community was quick to pay tribute to Snyman's immense contribution to the game, both on and off the field. Coach comments on Kaizer Chiefs' current best player
Aden McCarthy has wasted no time making a name for himself at Kaizer Chiefs while Rushwin Dortley is injured. In his very first league start for Kaizer Chiefs, the 21-year-old left central defender walked away with the Man of the Match award against Stellenbosch FC, and then went and did it again in the next game against Polokwane City. Two back-to-back awards for a player still finding his feet in top-flight football is no small feat, and it's turning heads across the Betway Premiership. Orlando Pirates news: Another player gone and Saleng finds love According to his assistant coach Cedric Kaze, McCarthy's hot streak isn't just raw talent. It's about the discipline he's shown behind the scenes and the trust the technical team has placed in him. 'He's a good listener, he works hard, and he takes instructions seriously,' Kaze told the media. 'That's why he's able to step up and perform at this level,' the Rwandan coach added. Orlando Pirates full list: 16 players gone 'He's a very nice kid, very professional in a way that he conducts himself inside and outside the field. Another thing that I would say about him is that he's a player who listens a lot. 'And he's always with Zitha [Kwinika] and Miguel. He is always with those players because he knows that their experience can help him. I'm pretty sure that without injuries, he'll probably go far because he's a player with quality,' concluded Kaze. Orlando Pirates set to part ways with R9-million attacker
Orlando Pirates continue to release players. This R9-million attacker is the latest Bucs star heading out. Orlando Pirates have confirmed the departure of these 14 players so far. However, more players are heading out of Mayfair. Pirates midfielder Katlego Otladisa is facing a probable exit. 'Pirates are going to meet some of the players that were left behind and discuss their future. Players like Jabulani Mokone and Neo Mokoena are set to go out on loan, whilst Otladisa is set to be released,' the insider reported on KickOff . Meaning, he is set to join a long list of players who have left the Bucs this season. These SIX Pirates players have jump ship to join PSL rivals for the 2025/26 season. The left winger is currently valued at over R9-million, according to Transfermarkt . Meanwhile, Abdeslam Ouaddou has brought in the likes of Oswin Appollis and Thepang Moremi to bolster their attack out wide. Therefore, a move out of Mayfair is in the best interest of both parties. For Otladisa, he is more likely to play more frequently after the recent signings made this season. Thus, placing him further down the pecking order at Pirates. Pirates have been the busiest team this transfer window. Meaning, they have made far more moves than rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns. However, the Bucs are not done with their transfer business just yet. This R13-million attacker and midfielder departure is imminent after he made his debut for another club. Meanwhile, Monnapule Saleng has been joined by TWO Bucs stars at Orbit College. Whilst, THREE Pirates players have joined these PSL rivals.
