
Kerala Plus Two 2025 results announced; 77.81% students pass exam
Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India] May 22 (ANI): Kerala Education Minister V. Sivankutty announced the state's HSE or Class 12th result also known as Plus Two on Thursday.
Addressing a press briefing he said that this year 77.81 per cent of students had passed the examinations.
The second year Higher Secondary Examination (HSE) was held in March 2025 where a total of 3,70,642 candidates from 2002 schools appeared for the regular category examination.
Among the participants, 2,88,394 candidates qualified for higher studies in the examination. The pass percentage was 77.81 per cent. It was a decrease from the last year when the pass per cent was 78.69. The difference between the two years stands at 0.88 per cent.
In the category of regular school-going students, a total of 3,70,642 children appeared for the examination this year, compared to 3,74,755 last year.
Among them, 1,79,952 were boys, with 1,23,160 passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 68.44 per centage. This shows a slight decrease from last year's figures, where 1,81,466 boys appeared and 1,26,327 passed, with a pass percentage of 69.61 per cent.
On the other hand, 1,90,690 girls appeared this year, with 1,65,234 passing, yielding a higher pass percentage of 86.65%. This, too, marks a slight decline from the previous year, where 1,93,289 girls appeared and 1,68,561 passed, with a pass percentage of 87.21%.
Ernakulam district recorded the highest pass percentage at 83.09%, while Kasargod reported the lowest at 71.09 per cent. A total of 57 schools achieved a 100% pass rate, including 6 government schools, 19 aided schools, 22 unaided schools, and 10 special schools. Malappuram had the highest number of students appearing for the examination at 64,426, whereas Wayanad had the fewest with 9,440 students.
This year, 41 students scored full marks (1200 out of 1200), comprising 7 boys and 34 girls. Additionally, 30,145 students secured A+ in all subjects.
Additionally, Minister V. Sivankutty announced special orientation classes for higher secondary students for helping the students to reach new opportunities after plus two.
'Focus Point to Point Zero' is a career guidance program conducted by the Career Guidance and Adolescent Counseling Cell of the Higher Secondary Section of the General Education Department with the aim of helping the students to reach these opportunities.
This is also a program that discusses in detail all the courses available in India, entrance exams, scholarships, and areas including foreign studies.
'For this, an orientation program has been organized by the Career Guidance and Adolescent Counseling Cell of the Higher Secondary Section on May 26, 2025 from 10 am to 1 pm for students who have passed the 12th class in all the higher secondary schools in the state', the minister informed. (ANI)

"Preparations underway for Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra," says Gujarat Minister Sanghavi
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 11 (ANI): Gujarat Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Wednesday assured that all arrangements are being made to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Ahmedabad, scheduled for June 27. The Gujarat Minister emphasised that the rath yatra holds a very important place and is a 'centre of devotion' for the people of the state. Speaking to ANI, Harsh Sanghavi said, 'The Jagannath Rath Yatra is a huge centre of devotion for the people of Gujarat. Lakhs of people join the yatra. Today, the Jal yatra will be carried out on the bank of the Sabarmati as part of the rituals that are performed ahead of Rath Yatra.' 'Preparations are being made for the Yatra that commences on June 27... It is the biggest Yatra - from both the perspectives - administration and devotion- 'Aastha and vyavastha,' he added. Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also participated in the Pahandi rituals and Snana Utsav of Lord Jagannath in Puri, marking his presence at key religious ceremonies ahead of the annual Rath Yatra festival. The Pahandi rituals, considered a vital component of the Rath Yatra, involve the ceremonial procession of the deities--Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra--from the sanctum sanctorum of the Jagannath Temple to their respective chariots. The elaborate ritual accompanies traditional chants, gongs, and conches as the deities are brought out grandly and reverentially. The construction of Lord Jagannath's chariot for the annual Rath Yatra festival commenced in Puri, Odisha. The work began on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya, April 30, marking the start of the preparations for the revered festival. The Rath Yatra, also known as the 'Festival of Chariots,' is a significant event in the Hindu calendar, where Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra, is taken out in a grand procession on chariots through the streets of Puri. This year, the Jagannath Rath Yatra will commence on June 27. According to the Hindu calendar, the festival is celebrated on the Dwitiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha (waxing moon fortnight) in Ashadh. Devotees eagerly await the Rath Yatra, celebrating Lord Jagannath and his siblings' divine journey. The festival is a testament to Odisha's rich cultural heritage and traditions and is expected to draw large crowds to Puri. (ANI)

UP: Fire breaks out in Lucknow's Park View apartments
ANI 11 Jun 2025, 00:58 GMT+10 Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 10 (ANI): A fire broke out on the third floor of Park View Apartments in the Lucknow area on Tuesday. No injuries have been reported, a fire official said. Three fire tenders were deployed when fire officials received information about the incident and doused the fire. Gomti Nagar's fire officer said that the fire might have started due to a short circuit. 'There is a flat on the third floor, 82/3, of Vaibhav Tripathi, and the incident happened likely due to a short-circuit, we have doused the fire and no injuries have been reported. We worked on this incident for around 1 hour,' Fire officer Sushil Kumar told ANI. The apartment owner, Vaibhav Tripathi, told ANI that he has lost at least Rs 5 lakh. The owner said, 'The fire was due to a short circuit, no family members or anyone were injured. However, the electronic appliances and household items have been destroyed, which could have an approximate worth of 5 to 7 lakh rupees.' (ANI)

Ujjwala Yojana brings positive change to lives of rural women of Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], June 11 (ANI): Several women beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana from Visakhapatnam expressed gratitude and shared how the scheme has positively impacted their daily lives, both at home and outside. Dashari Kumari, a beneficiary of the scheme, shared her experience. 'I got my connection in the year 2018. I came to know about this through a news article. Then, I approached a nearby distributor operator, namely Dwarka Gas Service. Thereafter, I immediately got the gas connection as per the scheme,' she said. Talking about the benefits, Dashari added, 'I could save a lot of time because of which now I am able to manage my work life as well as at home. I am able to feed my children whatever they want in less time.' Another beneficiary, Durga from Mouli in Visakhapatnam, expressed her appreciation for the initiative. 'Earlier, I used firewood and coal for cooking. It used to take two to three hours to prepare food. Now, I can save that time. Within less time, I can prepare food for my children. And now I am engaged in other outside work also. With the financial benefit I am getting -- that Rs. 300 subsidy amount -- I was able to utilise that amount for other needs as well. I can save time. Financially, I am happy. So, I am thankful to our Prime Minister for providing me with this connection under the scheme,' she said. Revathi, another beneficiary from Parvathipuram Manyam district, said, 'I came to know about this scheme through a distributor named Pentapati Kamaraju. I immediately approached him and was able to get the benefit under the scheme. Very soon, he installed the connection. Earlier, I was using firewood, so it used to take a lot of time. Now, I can save that time. With that support--both time and financial--whatever my children need, especially when they come back from school and want some snacks, I can now prepare them quickly. I'm also able to work outside. I am managing both my work life and home life with the help of this scheme.' Another beneficiary from the same district, Devi, also spoke about her experience. 'I came to know about this scheme from the distributor Pentapati Kamaraju, and immediately, when I approached him, he sanctioned the connection. Whenever I need a refill, he is readily available and delivers the cylinder. I can save time, and it also helps me financially. Now, I can spend some quality time with my family,' she said. 'I go for small kinds of work outside. So early in the morning, I have to leave. Earlier, using firewood and coal took a lot of time. So I couldn't manage everything in the morning. Now, I am very comfortable and can balance both things,' Devi added. As per data shared by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, 'The domestic LPG consumer base in the country has witnessed significant growth during the PMUY (Ujjwala) phase, increasing from 8.3 crore consumers as of March 2005, to 32.9 crore consumers by March 2025. LPG coverage has risen substantially from 62 per cent in 2016 to an estimated 99.8 per cent. Women spend quality time with family and contribute to the family income. Contributed to reducing deforestation and environmental degradation by lowering the reliance on traditional biomass for cooking.' Rural populations saw a 46 per cent decrease in TB cases per 1 lakh people, while urban areas saw a four per cent decrease between 2019-21 compared to 2015-16, as per the National Family Health Survey shared by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
