AFL WAG Sophie Cachia reveals plans to marry her AFLW star girlfriend Madison Prespakis - and confirms whether she is planning on having another baby

Daily Mail03-06-2025
Sophie Cachia has hinted at plans to marry her girlfriend Madison Prespakis.
The former AFL WAG, 34, and AFLW player, 24, debuted their romance on Instagram in December, one month before Sophie welcomed third child, Esmé, into the world after undergoing intrauterine insemination (IUI).
And it seems, things are already getting serious between the couple.
Taking to her Instagram Stories on Monday for a Q&A, Sophie didn't miss a beat when responding to a fan who asked: 'Would you consider marriage again?'
'Absolutely,' she said. 'With every part of my soul.'

'Am I married? No. Am I engaged? No,' Sophie continued in her response to other questions about her relationship.
'I always wear these rings. They are my rings,' she said.
Sophie was wearing a large sapphire and diamond ring in the video that could be confused for an engagement ring.
'But yes, I would get married tomorrow, if I could,' she said.
Fans also queried whether Sophie would consider having a fourth child with her new partner.
'If you asked me when I was pregnant, the answer would be yes. I always wanted four kids.
'But if you ask any parents with a four-month-old if they want to have more children, they are going to look at you and say, "Absoluting f**king not."
'So I'm not saying never. But right now that's something I don't want to even think about,' Sophie said.
She also confirmed that she plans to sell her Melbourne home in 2025 and move her family in with Madison.
Sophie said the sale won't 'be happening anytime soon,' because 'it's a huge challenge to move with a baby and two other kids.'
Sophie has had a string of failed romances with top female athletes since the breakdown of her marriage to AFL star Jarryd Cachia in 2019, with whom she shares son Bobby, 10, and daughter Florence, seven.
Sophie was married to Jaryd from October 2015 to September 2019 after welcoming their two children.
Since their split, she has struck up several back-to-back romances with high-profile sportswomen.
She first dated Matildas soccer player Alanna Kennedy, before briefly getting engaged to WNBL star Maddie Garrick, and she then went on to have a year-long romance with AFLW star Sophie Van De Heuvel.

UFC star reveals the savage act that ruined his dream of playing in the NRL

Kneeing an opponent during an on-field brawl ended his NRL hopes while an acting career as Batman still remains a pipe dream, but for now Carlos Ulberg has firmly set his sights on snaring the UFC 's light heavyweight crown. Ulberg will be the star attraction when he headlines Perth 's UFC Fight Night on September 28 at RAC Arena. The 34-year-old Kiwi, the third-ranked challenger in the division following an eight-fight winning streak, is looking to continue his hot run when he faces American Dominick Reyes (15-4) in Perth. Ulberg (13-1) has enjoyed a hugely successful UFC career to date, but before that harboured dreams of becoming an NRL star. Those hopes were shattered when all hell broke loose during a Fox Memorial Cup game in New Zealand while he was playing for the Otahuhu Leopards. 'We're coming to the end of the game and a fight breaks out. The whole team is fighting,' said Ulberg, who played as a second rower, winger or centre. 'People are dropping left, right and centre, and it's a televised game. 'I'm throwing knees at one of the guys and just got him in a clinch, and the camera zooms in on me. 'So everything's kind of put on me, and I get sent to the judiciary and got banned for eight weeks.' Just 22 at the time, Ulberg made the decision to quit the sport and take up fighting. 'That was the end of my career in rugby league,' he said. 'I put everything into that season and then it got taken away from me. I went straight to the boxing gym the very next week. 'I grew up around boxing. My family were boxers. My dad was a boxer - represented Samoa, New Zealand, so it was in the family.' The UFC quickly caught Ulberg's eye and he believes he is just one victory away from earning a title shot against current light heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev. 'I have big dreams,' Ulberg said. An eight-fight winning streak has elevated Ulberg to title contention 'Being the champion is just one mountain, and there's going to be the next one. So I'm forever climbing them.' One of those big challenges Ulberg would love to tackle down the track is acting - something he dabbled in during his younger years. 'I want to be Batman one day. Bruce Wayne,' Ulberg said with a laugh. The Kiwi is no stranger to being in front of the camera, appearing on reality TV show Game of Bros in 2018, and also working as a male model and stripper. But for now, Ulberg wants to put on a show in Perth in front of what is expected to be a bumper crowd.

How a controversial hand gesture divided opinion in the NRL

The NRL showed leniency on Wednesday by letting off Wests Tigers players with a warning after they used a gesture offensive to some Lebanese-Australian communities in Sunday's victory over Canterbury-Bankstown. But the sanction is unlikely to satisfy everyone given the range of responses elicited, from those outraged to others who believe the act was 'just a bit of banter'. Celebrating a second-half try to seal an upset Tigers' win against the high-flying Bulldogs in pouring rain at Parramatta, backrower Samuela Fainu made a hand gesture known as 'the khawd', and his teammates quickly joined in. Almost one in five residents of Bankstown have Lebanese ancestry, and the Bulldogs' fanbase has a strong association with Arab communities in Sydney's west. The club holds an annual Ifthar dinner each year during Ramadan and one of its favourite sons is Lebanon-born former winger Hazem El-Masri. Many Bulldogs fans in the stands on Sunday took offence at the sign made by the raucous Tigers players, some returning with a khawd of their own, while others put their thumbs down or raised their middle finger. But this was not a straightforward Tigers v Bulldogs debate. NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo admitted on Tuesday he had to 'learn up' about the gesture and its sensitivities. Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek – who will host a charity sleepout with the Bulldogs on Friday – declined to comment. Lebanese-Australian former Tigers hooker Ben Elias expressed firm views in the immediate aftermath. 'It's an ugly sign of hatred and these are the kind of actions that create issues and problems. It should be removed from the game immediately,' Elias told the Daily Telegraph. 'It was obviously aimed at the Lebanese. It means 'go and get fucked'. There's no need for it and there's no place in the game for it. The last thing you want to see is kids who idolise these players start repeating those hands signs and thinking it's cool.' Not all Lebanese-Australians immediately reach the same conclusions when they see the gesture. Jacob Kiraz, the Bulldogs' backline hero and son of Lebanese migrants, has been pictured using the khawd in a friendly manner. Prominent Bulldogs podcast the Kennel sought to provide context amid the storm of attention this week. 'Khawd literally means 'take this' in Arabic. If done to a mate it's the funniest thing, but when done in spite people will literally kill each other over giving each other the khawd,' its host Elmo said. But he believes the incident has been blown out of proportion. 'I don't understand why they've made a complaint. It's nothing, it's just a bit of banter. It's just like giving fans the finger. Move on.' After the Bulldogs expressed their displeasure to the NRL following the game, and due to the attention the controversy has attracted, the governing body was compelled to to act. 'The NRL acknowledges that these actions caused, or had the potential to cause, offence to members of the NRL community,' the league's statement read. The penalty was relatively light, given this week the Penrith Panthers were fined $50,000 and had trainer Corey Bocking suspended for five matches for interfering with Gold Coast kicker Jayden Campbell during a conversion attempt. However, a harsher sanction was handed to Tigers' back Brent Naden. He was one of the players who gave the crowd the khawd on Sunday, but went further than his teammates in sharing a video of him using the gesture after the match, and accompanying it by saying 'fucking dogs'. Naden has been hit with a breach notice and is expected to face a fine. He and the club have five days to respond.
