Glasgow thief caught after she tried to resell pram on Facebook
Shari Stevenson, 32, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court last week after she pleaded guilty to two charges.
The court heard that the Toryglen resident stole two items. A Baby Style pram between November 16 and November 17, 2023 and a Silver Cross buggy between December 9 and December 11, 2023.
In the first instance, a man and his young daughter left their flat to go to the shop, leaving the buggy in the close on Glenmore Avenue in the Southside.
When they came back, it was missing.
Then, less than a month later, a £200 pram was taken from the rear corner of the ground-floor common close on nearby Edinbeg Avenue.
When the owner returned, she could not find it, so she posted in a Facebook group to ask for information.
She described the object as a distinct, pink-and-gold pram.
The post led to the information that Stevenson shared a picture of it on her own Facebook page, saying that it's for sale.
A few days later, the buggy was found abandoned. It was unusable.
A police investigation revealed that Stevenson was responsible.

At the hearing, her lawyer said: "These are embarrassing offences.
"She is vulnerable and has a number of issues. The first one is her health, mental and physical. She has been struggling with addiction issues. She has three children of her own.
"She had to move because of her offences."
The solicitor also said she has a very good relationship with her social worker and she is aware of the consequences of the offences, including the pain and suffering caused.
Sheriff Vincent Lunny said: "I see that she seems to have been charged with two more offences but pleas of not guilty were accepted.
"It may well be that she didn't commit them or this was a deal between her and the crown. I am just raising it as an issue."
Stevenson was sentenced to 18 months of supervision and ordered to pay £400 of compensation, £200 to each victim.

Another 11 are seriously injured and in hospital receiving treatment. A 21-year-old shooter, identified as Artur A., terrorised the high school in Graz before turning the gun on himself. The attacker also recorded a video for his mother talking about his imminent crime and saying he was acting "of his own free will", reports Heute. He even left a chilling suicide note at his residence in the wider Graz region. Friends speaking to local media suggested the shooting could be an act of revenge, and that he might have been looking for someone to blame after failing to pass the sixth form. In the suicide note, he reportedly revealed that he had felt "bullied". Horrifying video from the scene yesterday showed pupils hiding in a classroom as gunshots rang out nearby. Other clips showed students running for their lives as heavily armed cops made their way inside the BORG Dreierschützengasse high school. A dad told local media that one of his sons lay down on the floor and pretended to be dead to escape gunfire. The gunman was armed with two legally-owned weapons - a Glock pistol and a shotgun. The lone shooter was found dead in a bathroom after turning a gun on himself, the Austrian interior minister confirmed. He was not known to police, and a motive is yet to be officially confirmed. Hong Kong police accuse a mobile game app of promoting armed revolution
HONG KONG — Hong Kong police on Tuesday accused a mobile game application of advocating armed revolution and promoting secessionist agendas, saying that those who publish it or share it with others online may risk violating national security laws. The announcement — the first to publicly denounce a gaming app — indicates that authorities are widening the crackdown that has followed anti-government protests in 2019. Authorities have crushed or silenced many dissenting voices through prosecutions under the 2020 national security law imposed by Beijing and a similar, homegrown law enacted last year. In a statement, police warned residents against downloading the 'Reversed Front: Bonfire' application, saying those with the app installed might be seen as possessing a publication with a seditious intention. They also warned people against providing financial assistance to the application developer, including making in-app purchases. ''Reversed Front: Bonfire' was released under the guise of a game with the aim of promoting secessionist agendas such as 'Taiwan independence' and 'Hong Kong independence,' advocating armed revolution and the overthrow of the fundamental system of the People's Republic of China,' police said. The game application was developed by ESC Taiwan, which did not immediately respond to The Associated Press' request for comment. On the application's Facebook page, the developer posted about surging searches for the game name and a Hong Kong broadcaster's news report about Tuesday's development. According to the application's introduction, players can assume the role of Hong Kong, Tibet, Uyghur, Taiwan or Cathaysian Rebel factions, among others, to overthrow the communist regime. They may also choose to lead the communists to defeat all enemies. The game's website says it 'is a work of nonfiction. Any similarity to actual agencies, policies or ethnic groups of the PRC in this game is intentional.' The app was still available on Apple's App Store on Tuesday night, but could no longer be found on Wednesday morning. The game publisher said last month that Google Play had taken the app down because it did not prohibit users from adopting hateful language in naming. Apple, Google and Meta have not immediately commented. After playing the game for about three months, Kuo Hao Fu in Taiwan said he found that its content uses a humorous approach to describe serious political issues. Fu disagreed with the police accusations, saying players can also choose to be part of the force representing China. 'The Hong Kong police's actions demonstrate how Hong Kong's democratic freedoms have been controlled by the Chinese Communist Party,' he said. 'When even this level cannot be tolerated, it completely destroys creative freedom in gaming.' China considers Taiwan its own territory, to be brought under its control by force if necessary. Many Taiwanese in the self-ruled island showed concerns about Hong Kong's declining freedoms under Beijing's grip. The Beijing and Hong Kong governments insist the city's national security laws were necessary to return stability to the city after the protests.
