US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday welcomed the agreement on a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, underscoring the importance of lasting security and prosperity in the region, according to the State Department.
"The Secretary welcomed the agreement on a peace treaty with Azerbaijan and underlined the importance of a lasting peace to break the cycle of regional conflict and bring security and prosperity to the South Caucasus," State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said in a statement following a phone call between Rubio and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Rubio and Pashinyan agreed that escalation of any form in the South Caucasus is unacceptable, the statement said.
The two also discussed their countries' shared interests as strategic partners and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, it added.
The phone call came days after Azerbaijan and Armenia separately announced an agreement on the draft of a peace deal set to end a decades-long conflict and establish diplomatic ties between Baku and Yerevan.

U.S. Seeks Cooperation with Pakistan on Critical Minerals and Hydrocarbons - Jordan News
U.S. Seeks Cooperation with Pakistan on Critical Minerals and Hydrocarbons U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Washington is looking to explore cooperation with Pakistan in the fields of critical minerals and hydrocarbons. اضافة اعلان His remarks came in a statement issued by the U.S. State Department on the occasion of Pakistan's Independence Day. Both Washington and Islamabad praised a trade agreement signed last month, which Pakistan said would reduce tariffs and boost investment. Pakistani Commerce Minister Jam Kamal noted that Islamabad will offer American companies investment opportunities in mining projects primarily in southwestern Balochistan, mainly through joint ventures with local firms, including incentives such as lease grants. The region hosts major mining projects, including the Reko Diq project operated by Barrick Gold, considered one of the largest gold and copper mines in the world. Late Wednesday, Rubio said: 'We look forward to exploring new areas of economic cooperation, including critical minerals and hydrocarbons, and enhancing dynamic trade partnerships.' He added, 'The United States greatly values Pakistan's role in counterterrorism and trade.' ___ Reuters

Oil climbs on supply risks; weak fundamentals weigh
Ammon News - Oil prices climbed on Thursday as investors remain cautious the U.S.-Russia summit on Ukraine on Friday will lead to a loosening of Russian crude sanctions and may even result in further action against buyers, while a weak market outlook capped gains. Brent crude futures were up 24 cents, or 0.37%, at $65.87 a barrel at 0356 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose 21 cents, or 0.34%, to $62.85. Both contracts hit their lowest in two months on Wednesday after bearish supply guidance from the U.S. government and the International Energy Agency (IEA). Trump on Wednesday threatened "severe consequences" if Putin does not agree to peace in Ukraine. Trump did not specify what the consequences could be, but he has warned of economic sanctions if the meeting in Alaska on Friday proves fruitless. Expectations the U.S. Federal Reserve will cut rates in September is also supportive for oil. Traders are almost 100% agreed a cut will happen after U.S. inflation increased at a moderate pace in July. Oil prices were kept in check as crude inventories in the United States unexpectedly rose by 3 million barrels in the week ended on August 8, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Wednesday. ‘How I Met Your Mother' star Cristin Milioti urges fans to join protest against 'Israeli' war crimes
American actress Cristin Milioti, best known for her role as Tracy McConnell in the popular sitcom How I Met Your Mother, took to her Instagram story to share a call-to-action for an emergency mass march in New York City, demanding an end to 'Israel's' war crimes and the US's role in enabling them. The post, originally shared by organizers from the ANSWER Coalition, announces the protest will be held on Saturday, August 16, at 2 PM (GMT-4) on the steps of the New York Public Library in Bryant Park. The callout condemns what it describes as the 'US-Israeli blockade of Gaza' for creating a 'devastating hunger crisis' that is killing Palestinians through starvation and malnutrition. It also accuses US President Donald Trump of greenlighting what it calls Israel's 'starvation regime' and denounces US-backed entities for 'weaponizing hunger' rather than ending it. The statement further alleges that Washington is now working with 'Israel' to condition aid on its plans for 'full occupation' of Gaza. 'Now is the time to take to the streets,' the post urges, calling for a united front from 'people from all walks of life' to stand against genocide and stop the 'US-funded, Israeli famine'. Milioti's public endorsement adds her name to a growing list of actors, musicians, and public figures who have used their platforms to express solidarity with Gaza and call out Israeli policies.
