MoCI initiates legal action against four health clubs

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced that it is taking legal action against four health clubs (massage centres) for publishing advertisements featuring inappropriate imagery and content that contravene public morals and the country's religious values, customs, and traditions. The ministry stated that the violations represent a clear breach of Article (2) of Law No (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection.
Official violation reports have been filed against the establishments and referred to the competent authorities to proceed with necessary legal measures.
The decision underscores the ministry's commitment to protecting society from inappropriate marketing practices and to promoting a responsible commercial environment rooted in respect for the law and societal values.
The ministry's inspection teams will continue their oversight to ensure that all commercial entities fully comply with the regulations governing advertising and service provision. The ministry urges citizens and residents to promptly report any violations or irregularities by contacting the Call Centre on 16001 or through its official social media channels.

The patient had been diagnosed with Trochlear Dysplasia, a rare condition that had progressively limited her ability to walk and carry out normal activities since the age of 18. The condition caused persistent friction in the kneecap joint, resulting in chronic pain that restricted her ability to pursue educational, professional, and personal goals. The complex surgery lasted several hours, involved reshaping the bone cavity of the kneecap and reconstructing it using an innovative biological membrane infused with stem cells extracted from the patient's own bone marrow. This advanced technique promotes cartilage regeneration and allows for full restoration of joint function. Dr Ibrahim Fawzi, Medical Director of Aisha Bint Hamad Al-Attiyah Hospital, commented on this achievement: 'This surgical success marks a significant milestone in the development of orthopedic services at HMC. 'This type of surgery is among the most complex in the field of joint reconstruction and is performed only in a very limited number of specialized centers worldwide. Its successful completion at our hospital demonstrates our capability to undertake advanced, highly precise procedures particularly benefiting young patients affected by congenital deformities or long-term sports related injuries,' Dr Sameh Abdalqawi, Head of the Orthopedic Surgery Department and lead surgeon for the case, added. The Orthopedic Surgery Department at Aisha Bint Hamad Al Attiyah Hospital receives an average of 1,100–1,200 patients per month in its outpatient clinics and is staffed by a team of experienced specialized surgeons. The department is equipped with advanced technologies for fracture management, sports injury treatment, recurrent dislocation correction, and joint reconstruction, as well as partial and total joint replacement, in line with the latest internationally recognized medical protocols.

QRCS project set to provide medical care for patients with cancer in Syria
Tribune News Network Doha As part of its humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of patients with cancer in Syria, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched a new project to provide costly chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and hormonal drugs for patients with cancer at oncology centres in northern Syria. The project responds to the significant gap in specialized health care services in northern Syria, exacerbated by the prolonged conflict and unaffordable prices of cancer drugs. Hopefully, it will help reduce mortality rates and health complications among patients with cancer and ease the burden on local health care facilities by reducing the need to refer patients for treatment abroad. Under the project, essential cancer drugs such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy, will be supplied, distributed, and examined for quality in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the health directorates in Idlib and Aleppo. These supplies are expected to directly benefit 112 patients with cancer over the five-month period, in addition to 560 indirect beneficiaries from the families of patients and the local community. In a statement, Mohamed Bader Al-Sada, assistant secretary-general for Relief and International Development at QRCS, said, 'Given the high mortality rates and limited resources, there remains a need for more support to address the gap and provide early detection and treatment services for various types of cancer'. Al-Sada revealed preparations for a new project to provide chemotherapy and immunotherapy drugs for 400 displaced and poor patients with cancer at oncology centres in Syria. He called on the benevolent donors to lend a hand in creating a new hope for patients with cancer, by donating via the project's webpage ( or calling the home donation collection number (33998898). 'A donation of just QR10,000 can save the life of a patient, after years of suffering and pain from cancer,' he emphasized. This intervention builds on a previous project, implemented by QRCS in 2024, to provide drugs and medical supplies for more than 900 patients with cancer. It also involved supporting cancer treatment centres with medical equipment and training for health care personnel. Cancer in Syria continues to be a significant public health concern, exacerbated by years of conflict and its impact on health care infrastructure and access to treatment. Despite efforts to rebuild and strengthen cancer care services, shortages of essential medications, limited access to specialized treatment facilities, and lack of comprehensive cancer screening programs remain major challenges.

QC's multi-service centre in Chad to benefit over 10,000 people
Tribune News Network Doha With support from philanthropists in Qatar, Qatar Charity (QC) has inaugurated a multi-service centre in a neighbourhood in the Chadian capital, N'Djamena. This centre, the first of its kind in the region in terms of comprehensiveness and diversity of services, aims to promote local development and provide essential services to residents. More than 10,000 people are expected to benefit from it. The opening ceremony was attended by local dignitaries, officials, representatives from the Ministries of Health and Education, and the region's deputy governor. This project is part of QC's ongoing efforts to support vulnerable communities in Chad through sustainable development initiatives that have a long-term impact on people's lives. Built on an area of 664 square metres, the centre features a six-classroom school set to open in the next academic year, helping to reduce school dropout rates and promote access to basic education. It also houses a modern health clinic offering primary care services such as maternity care, medical examinations, nursing, vaccinations, a pharmacy, laboratory tests, and inpatient rooms, aiming to improve preventive and therapeutic healthcare in an area lacking such vital facilities. The centre further includes a mosque accommodating 120 worshippers, complete with restrooms and ablution areas, providing a comfortable space for worship while strengthening community bonds. A deep solar-powered well ensures access to clean drinking water, and landscaped green spaces enhance the environment. Local officials praised QC's role in advancing local development and delivering essential services. Al-Rakhis Abkar Barma, deputy mayor of the First District of N'Djamena, expressed his gratitude for the initiative, noting that the centre's diverse facilities would transform education, healthcare and water access in the area.
