Over 1 million Igloo coolers recalled due to possible fingertip amputation, crushing hazards

Yahoo13-02-2025
Over 1 million Igloo coolers made in the U.S. are being recalled due to potential hazards of fingertip amputation or crushing.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall notice Thursday for Igloo's 90-quart Flip & Tow rolling coolers, saying the coolers' tow handles have the potential to cause injury, pinching a user's fingertips against the cooler and leading to crushing or fingertip amputations.
Igloo told "Good Morning America" in a statement that the company prioritizes consumer safety and is offering consumers a free replacement handle for recalled coolers.
"With consumer safety as our top priority, we have voluntarily issued a recall on the 90QT Flip & Tow Rolling Cooler and have provided consumers with a proper course of action that includes a free replacement handle," Igloo said. "Through rigorous testing and proactive steps, we are constantly improving our products to meet the highest safety standards."
The recall impacts approximately 1,060,000 Flip & Tow rolling coolers that were made before January 2024 and sold between January 2019 and January 2025 at retailers across the country, including Costco, Target, Academy, Dick's stores, and online, including on Amazon.com, Igloocoolers.com, and other websites. Recalled coolers were priced between $80 and $140.

Recalled Igloo rolling coolers feature a manufacturer date imprinted in a circular pattern on the bottom of the product with an arrow pointing to the manufacture month and the last two digits of the manufacture year inside the circle. The word "IGLOO" is also printed on the side of the recalled coolers and the model number is located on labels attached to the cooler bottom.
The rolling coolers were available in multiple color combinations, including a tactical gray body with a deep slate stone lid, a white body with a white lid, a white body with an ash gray lid, a sapphire blue body with a sapphire blue lid, a dark slate blue body with a white lid, and a carbonite body and aegean sea lid.

According to the CPSC, Igloo said the company has received 12 reports of injuries involving the recalled coolers, including bone fractures, fingertip amputations, and lacerations.
The CPSC is advising anyone with the recalled cooler to stop using the product immediately and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle for their cooler. Consumers can also visit Igloo's recall webpage at www.igloo90qtrecall.expertinquiry.com to sign up for a repair kit.
To contact Igloo, consumers can call the Texas-based company toll-free at 888-943-5182 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or send an email to igloo90qt@sedgwick.com.

Waymo expands lead over Tesla with launch of robotaxi services in new US cities: 'The team is testing across more than 10 cities this year'

With Tesla beginning testing of its robotaxi service this summer near the company headquarters in Texas, the current leader in that area, Waymo, is looking to extend its lead by opening service nearby in the Lone Star State. What's happening? According to Forbes, Waymo is planning to open autonomous driving services in Dallas starting next year. One of the many companies under the umbrella of Google's parent company, Alphabet, Waymo has been the industry leader in self-driving vehicles pretty much from the jump. Waymo currently operates fully in five cities: San Francisco, Atlanta, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Austin — the latter being where Tesla has debuted its public testing. The Google-affiliated company is also testing in another 10 cities, including New York City and Philadelphia. "The Waymo driver has now autonomously driven over 100 million miles on public roads, and the team is testing across more than 10 cities this year, including New York and Philadelphia," Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said in July. "We hope to serve riders in all 10 in the future." Waymo is also testing in Washington, D.C.; Houston; Miami; San Antonio; San Diego; Nashville, Tennessee; Boston; and Tokyo. The company will partner with rental company Avis for maintenance and charging of its vehicles in Dallas. Why is Waymo's expansion important? Self-driving cars have long been touted as the next frontier in automotive advancement, and multiple companies are currently in the mix to get a foothold in that market. Volkswagen and Tesla are two of the biggest names trying to get a leg up, but everyone has a lot of catching up to do with Waymo. While Volkswagen isn't looking to take over the market and has opted to partner with municipalities in its quest to get a chunk of the robotaxi pie, Tesla has long been seen as Waymo's biggest competitor. However, Elon Musk's company has gotten off to a slow start with its program and is currently only cleared for testing in a limited section of Austin. Those tests have been progressing slowly, with a fair number of concerning incidents of near-misses in traffic. That said, Waymo has had its own safety issues at times in its development, including a recall earlier this year connected to glitches causing the detection to miss thin objects like chains and gates. That Waymo is continuing to grow while Tesla is still in its early stages is a troubling sign for the Musk-run EV manufacturer, but it's also important to note that Waymo got to market earlier — hitting the stage Tesla is in back in 2021 in San Francisco — and Tesla appears to be giving its engineering team time to get things right. What's being done about Waymo's growth? Musk and Tesla are betting big on their self-driving services, despite having a lot of ground to make up in the coming months and years. Would you feel safe driving an EV? Absolutely Depends on the model Not really I already have one Click your choice to see results and speak your mind. "Tesla is by far the best in the world at real-world AI," Musk said on its results call last week. "A clear proof point for that would be if you compare it to Waymo. Waymo's car is best with God knows how many sensors. Isn't Google good at AI? Yes. But they are not good at real-world AI. Tesla is much better than Google. By far." Despite Musk's confidence, it's clear Waymo has quite the head start, and that lead appears to be growing as it expands into new markets. Lewis Hamilton's Former Mercedes Teammate Offers Crucial Advice to Ferrari

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. The Scuderia Ferrari Formula One team has been enduring a challenging 2025 season thus far, and Lewis Hamilton's former Mercedes teammate, Nico Rosberg, has asked the team to listen to the seven-time world champion. This comes after Hamilton sent documents to Ferrari to elevate the team's competitiveness at all levels. Hamilton's debut season with the Maranello-based team has been a bumpy ride thus far, with most challenges surrounding the SF-25 F1 car. To enhance the car's performance and ensure no elements are carried forward to the 2026 car, the Briton has sent several documents detailing his feedback and suggestions. Hamilton revealed ahead of the race at Spa-Francorchamps that he also held meetings with the top-level management and engineers to ensure the entire team remains on the same page. Beyond just the car, he also advised Ferrari on making "structural" adjustments to the team. The 40-year-old driver arrived at Ferrari with the most impressive driver resume a team could have asked for, and his knowledge about what goes into becoming a championship-winning team could be extremely crucial for Ferrari. Here's what Hamilton said about the changes: Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain and Scuderia Ferrari prepares to drive in the garage prior to practice ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Australia at Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit on March 14, 2025... Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain and Scuderia Ferrari prepares to drive in the garage prior to practice ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Australia at Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit on March 14, 2025 in Melbourne, Australia. More"Yeah, I was at the factory for two weeks, a couple of days each week. We did preparation — naturally, going over where we were in the previous race, things that we need to change. I held a lot of meetings, so I've called on lots of meetings with the heads of the team. "I've sat with John [Elkann], Benedetto [Vigna], and Fred [Vasseur] in several meetings. I've sat with the head of car development, with Loic [Serra] and also the heads of different departments — talking about the engine for next year, front suspension for next year, rear suspension for next year, things that you want, issues that I have with this car. "I've sent documents, as I've done throughout the year. After the first few races, I did a full document for the team. Then, during this break, I had another two documents that I sent in. So, then I come in and want to address those. "Some of it's structural adjustments that we need to make as a team in order to get better in all the areas we want to improve. And the other one was really about the car — the current issues that I have with this car. Some things you do want to take on to next year's car, and some that you need to work on changing for next year. "We did development for — tried the 2026 car for the first time and started work on that. Thirty engineers come into the room, and you sit and debrief with every single one of them. So, big, big push. And otherwise just training — maybe a little bit too hard, a bit heavy this weekend." Given Hamilton's knowledge and premier class racing experience, former F1 champion Rosberg has asked Ferrari to take Hamilton's input seriously. He said: "He's a seven-time World Champion, so you definitely have to listen to what a seven-time World Champion is telling you. But it also takes time. Many of the things they cannot just change overnight. If the brakes are an issue, it's a long lead time to develop the new brake system. Or if he's not happy with the balance, it's a really long process. "So in many senses, he will be even thinking about next year already now as well, with some of the things that he's talking about. I think it's a good sign, though, that we're hearing that Lewis is pushing, you know. He's not like resign, giving up, but he's really pushing hard, the team, the owners, the team boss. That's a great sign."

Eccentrica Pacchetto Titano is a track-focused Lamborghini Diablo restomod

For 2025 Monterey Car Week, San Marino-based restomod firm Eccentrica is rolling out a more track-focused version of its Lamborghini Diablo upgrade package. Designed for "occasional track days," according to the company, the Titano Package sharpens the Diablo in a way Lamborghini never did when the V12 supercar was in production. The package includes suspension changes, a new ECU map, and subtle styling changes, all of which will be shown off on a new build called the Pacchetto Titano at The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering. Eccentrica is also bringing two other cars-dubbed Rose Phoenix and Green Dragon-to demonstrate configuration possibilities. Those suspension changes consist of stiffer springs and a recalibration of the adaptive dampers for "heightened lateral responsiveness and precision feedback, without compromising comfort on spirited canyon roads," according to an Eccentrica press release. The other major mechanical change is an ECU remap that "enhances throttle response across the rev range," according to Eccentrica. The company didn't mention any changes in output, but for reference its standard tune for the Diablo's 5.7-liter V12 delivers 542 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. That power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. It wouldn't be a track-day special without carbon-fiber aerodynamic aids, and the Titano Package checks that box. A fixed carbon-fiber rear wing, as well as some other small changes to the bodywork, help increase downforce without dramatically altering the looks of the car. Lightweight wheels with carbon-aluminum construction, in a staggered 19-inch front/20-inch rear setup, are also part of the package. In addition to the wheels, changes to the cooling ducts for the Brembo braking system help further reduce unsprung mass. The Pacchetto Titano doubles down on that with exposed carbon-fiber bodywork, but customers will presumably be able to choose paint as well. The car also has a fire-suppression system and Alcantara upholstery with billet aluminum accents, along with a compact steering wheel with blue center stripe. Eccentrica didn't break out pricing for the Titano Package, but its builds start at $1.4 million, not including the cost of a donor car. The company plans to build just 19 of its Eccentrica V12 restomods, and aims for each build to be unique. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
