Women's Super League: Saints beat Barrow to go top
St Helens moved to the top of Women's Super League by dominating Barrow to edge above previous leaders Wigan Warriors on won 40-6 at sixth-placed Barrow for their third victory in the opening four games of the leading by just two points at half-time, St Helens scored six times in the second half without on Saturday, York Valkyrie beat Leigh Leopards 26-0 to move level on points with their fourth-placed opponents and third-placed Huddersfield can regain top spot if they win at Huddersfield on Sunday. St Helens enjoyed a bright start but Barrow registered the first points of the game as Nicole Stewart bundled over for a try and added the responded just before the 30-minute mark as Phoebe Hook sprinted over on the right-hand side but Faye Gaskin's conversion attempt bounced off the scored in the right corner for her second try of the game shortly after to given St Helens the lead for the first time in the match at half-time, Saints increased that lead as Gaskin sent a kick into the Barrow 20 that was picked up by Rachel Woosey who sprinted into space over for a then found a gap and ran through once again for four more Helens found a fifth try of the game just before the hour mark, Vicky Whitfield touching down right underneath the posts, and Gaskin the final 20 minutes, tries from Jodie Cunningham, Katie Mottershead and Nom Williams extended their points total to 40 and wrapped up a convincing victory. York Valkyrie ease past Leigh without reply After a tense and nervy start between Leigh and York it was the away side that managed to get the first points on the board, 30 minutes into the first made the most of a scrum 35 metres from the goal-line and worked the ball out to the right where Izzy Bibby was able to take the ball across the line for a than ten minutes later, they added their second try as Eboni Partington made it over the line after Leigh were penalised for a high tackle just five metres got off to the perfect start in the second half as Sinead Peach powered through defenders and over the line, Williamson adding the conversion after missing her prior two Andrade utilised some smart footwork to touch down for four more points and Valkyrie added another try on the hour mark through Agnes Wood, with Williamson converting both.

Maria delivers Queens masterclass to oust Keys and march into final
LONDON, June 14 (Reuters) - German veteran Tatjana Maria defied the odds to move into the biggest final of her career when she stunned second seed and Australian Open champion Madison Keys 6-3 7-6(3) at the Queen's Club Championships on Saturday. The unseeded Maria came into the tournament carrying the burden of nine straight losses with many wondering if the 37-year-old mother of two was a spent force. But she put those doubts to bed on the lush green surface at the Andy Murray Arena, where she has now knocked out two Grand Slam champions in back-to-back matches. Having upset former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in the quarter-finals, Maria will now play either top seed Zheng Qinwen or Amanda Anisimova in the final. "Oh my god, to be honest, I cannot believe it. It's a dream come true. It's amazing to play here in front of you all, it's such a special place. I could not wish a better tournament to be in the final and I'm so, so proud," a smiling Maria said. "You never can stop, doesn't matter how it goes. I think I'm a really good example for this. I had my ups and downs, but you always have to keep going. "I love to play tennis. I love this sport and we live for these special moments. That's why it's amazing... To be here with my family, my team. It makes it so special that they are here and watching me. We live this dream together." Keys unleashed raw power, hammering 41 winners to Maria's modest 11. But the German countered with crafty low slices that skidded treacherously off the grass, forcing the American second seed into 37 unforced errors while committing just six herself. The only time Maria really struggled was when Keys approached the net, where the American won several points, especially on serve. However, that ultimately proved to be Keys's undoing on match point when she sprinted up to the net, only for Maria to loft a perfectly weighted lob into an empty court to move into just her second grasscourt final of her career.
