"Excellent discussions": All-Party delegation wraps up Saudi visit with focus on terrorism and strategic ties
Riyadh, [Saudi Arabia], May 30 (ANI): The all-party delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda in Saudi Arabia informed that they held discussions with Saudi officials, policy think tanks, the media, and members of the Indian diaspora over two days in Riyadh.
'We have had excellent discussions in Saudi Arabia. This is the third country that our delegation visited, and we had two full days of discussions with senior government officials, with think tanks who play the role of shaping policy in Saudi Arabia, with the media, and the Indian diaspora,' Panda told ANI on Thursday (local time).
Panda said discussions were open and direct, especially on terrorism, where both countries share a zero-tolerance stance.
He added, 'We have had free and frank discussions about the terrorism challenge we have been facing. Saudi Arabia has a policy of zero-tolerance towards terrorism, like us. PM Narendra Modi was here when the terrorist attack happened and the joint statement given by the two governments made it very clear that there is no tolerance for any kind of terrorism.'
He also noted growing India-Saudi ties in defence, counterterrorism, and trade, calling Saudi Arabia a major regional power.
'There have been a lot of developments between Saudi Arabia and India, including defence cooperation, joint military exercises, agreements on security and counter terrorism, and a very sharp growth in trade and investment. Saudi Arabia is very influential in this part of the world,' Panda stated.
The delegation also visited Diriyah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its traditional mud-brick architecture.
Additionally, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said that the delegation held 7-8 meetings with Saudi officials, reaffirming close ties, especially with 27 lakh Indians living there.
'We held 7-8 meetings. Saudi Arabia is as important for India as is for the world. India has good relations with Saudi Arabia. 27 lakh Indians live and work in Saudi. PM Narendra Modi has good relations with the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.' Dubey said.
He added, 'PM Narendra Modi was here when the Pahalgam attack took place, and Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the attack. For the first time, Saudi Arabia has taken a big stand, and issued a joint statement with India, and stressed on two things -- to condemn cross-border terrorism and stop funding for terrorism. Saudi Arabia has now agreed to Pakistan's involvement in cross-border terrorism. The think tank here also believes that Pakistan is the only country in the world whose military decides and controls the government.'
Former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who is also part of the delegation, said that the delegation met the Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council.

The delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda also includes BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, BJP MP Phangnon Konyak, BJP MP Rekha Sharma, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Satnam Singh Sandhu MP, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and Ambassador Harsh Shringla.
The visit comes in the aftermath of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people, including a foreign tourist. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 targeting terror camps linked to multiple terror groups. (ANI)

BJP fields Kerala Congress leader as party's candidate in Nilambur
Ending weeks of uncertainty, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national leadership in New Delhi on Sunday fielded advocate Mohan George as the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) candidate for the Nilambur Assembly byelection. Mr. George, who entered politics as a leader of the Kerala Students Congress (KSC), was a close associate of the late founder of the Kerala Congress (B) [KC(B)], R. Balakrishna Pillai, for long. He later switched to several Kerala Congress parties and joined the Kerala Congress, a United Democratic Front (UDF) ally. Voters' orientation The BJP, which initially termed the bypoll at the fag end of the second Pinarayi Vijayan government as inconsequential, had realised that it could ill-afford to remain on the sidelines in the pivotal poll, widely reckoned an approximate point of reference to gauge the orientation of Kerala voters in the run-up to the 2026 Assembly polls. Operation Sindoor is not over yet: Amit Shah in Kolkata
Kolkata: Operation Sindoor is not yet over and anyone who dares to do anything will be given a befitting reply, Union home minister Amit Shah said in Kolkata on Saturday. Addressing an organisational meeting of theBharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kolkata's Netaji Indoor stadium, Amit Shah also launched a scathing attack against the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal and added that the BJP would form the government in the state in 2026. He also said that the violence, which erupted in Murshidabad district over the Waqf (Amendment) Act in April this year, was 'state-sponsored.' Earlier in the day, Shah inaugurated a new building of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Kolkata. 'When violence erupted in Murshidabad, the Union home ministry repeatedly requested the state to deploy the BSF. The state didn't. Central forces were deployed on the orders of the high court. A TMC leader was present at the spot to encourage the rioters. It was state-sponsored,' Shah said. 'Bengal was under the Communist regime for many years. Later Mamata didi came to power with her Ma Mati Manush slogan. Today she has turned the state into a hub of infiltration, corruption, crime against women, bomb blasts and atrocities against Hindus,' Shah said. He also said that even though poll-related violence has stopped across the country, in West Bengal, however, hundreds of BJP workers were killed during polls and in post-poll violence. 'Didi, your time has come to end. The BJP will form the government in 2026. Didi, if you have the courage, contest the elections without violence and rigging. The people of Bengal will not even allow you to retain the security deposit' 'Election in West Bengal doesn't just determine the future of the state. It is also linked to national security. Mamata Banerjee has opened the international borders for infiltrators. She is allowing infiltration to increase her vote bank so that later her nephew may remain in power. The TMC would return to power with more than 250 seats and Mamata Banerjee would again become the chief minister,' said Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, TMC MP. Shah also accused Banerjee of opposing Operation Sindoor and playing with the sentiments of women. 'When Modi came to Bengal after Operation Sindoor, she made a shoddy political comment to oppose Operation Sindoor. I want to tell her that she has played with the sentiments of millions of mothers and sisters across the country. The TMC, however, hit back saying that it is the Election Commission of India which conducts the election and if there is violence and rigging, it is a failure of the ECI.
