Morocco Ranks 96th Globally in Fixed Internet Speed
The report, which analyzed data from April to June 2025, shows that Morocco recorded an average download speed of 61.43 Mbps on fixed connections such as ADSL and fiber.
In contrast, the global average speed for fixed broadband during the same period reached 103 Mbps, featuring a significant performance gap between Morocco and leading digital nations.
Countries like Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United Arab Emirates continue to dominate the global rankings, with average speeds well above 200 Mbps.
The report tracks internet performance across the world and provides a quarterly update based on millions of user-initiated tests.
Although Morocco has made modest improvements in recent years, the country still faces challenges in extending high-speed internet access to all regions, particularly rural and semi-urban areas.
Digital experts stress the need for stronger investment in infrastructure and regulatory reforms to improve performance and affordability.
The findings come amid ongoing public concerns over service quality and internet pricing in Morocco, as users increasingly rely on digital platforms for education, work, and entertainment.
Morocco has in recent years launched several initiatives to bolster its internet infrastructure, aiming to enhance connectivity and bridge the digital divide.
The North African country has designed a rollout of 5G mobile technology scheduled for November this year, just before the start of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Through this initiative, Morocco is set to provide 5G access to 25% of its population by the end of 2025, with goal to expand it to 70% by 2030.
The digital shift accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic further signaled the need for reliable internet, as remote work, online education, and e-services became more prevalent in Moroccan society. Tags: 5Ginternetinternet in Moroccointernet speed

Morocco Continues to Strengthen Position as Key Fertilizer Supplier to India
Rabat – Morocco continues to strengthen its position as a fertilizer supplier for many countries, including India. Last week, India's Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Anupriya Patel, said Morocco is among the alternative suppliers for India in terms of water-soluble fertilizers. She told the Indian parliament that a 'significant quantity is important from China as well as alternative suppliers like Belgium, Egypt, Germany, and the USA.' Morocco's OCP Group is one of the leading and giant fertilizer suppliers. In 2023, the Moroccan fertilizer giant announced a deal with India to supply the country with 1.7 million metric tonnes of phosphate-based fertilizer. The agreement sought to provide India with up to 700,000 MT of Triple Super Phosphate. It is a phosphate-based fertilizer that has the highest phosphate content. The fertilizers can be used to meet the specific needs of plants and soils in India. The agreement also includes the delivery of 1,000,000 tons of diamonium phosphate to Indian farmers. In July, OCP Nutricrops celebrated surpassing five million tonnes of Tripe Super Phosphate fertilizer production. The fertilizer is also known as TSP, a key concentrated phosphate fertilizer that contains over 90% of phosphorus in a plant-available form. This makes it suitable for nutrient-deficient soils and smart fertilizer strategies. Morocco's phosphates and their derivatives' exports brought in $2 billion to the North African country in the first quarter of 2025, representing an increase of 18.2%. TikTok Removes Over 1 Million Videos in Morocco During Q1 of 2025
Rabat — TikTok removed more than one million videos from its platform in Morocco during the first quarter of 2025, according to the company's latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, released Monday. The social media giant took down 1,040,981 videos between January and March for violating its community standards, with the vast majority identified through automated systems before users could report them. The platform said it achieved a 98.9% proactive removal rate in Morocco, meaning nearly all violative content was detected and removed without requiring user reports. Additionally, 92.1% of the removed videos were taken down within 24 hours of being posted, demonstrating what TikTok calls 'strong moderation efficiency' in the North African country. Beyond short-form video content, TikTok also intensified its enforcement of live streaming violations in Morocco during the quarter, banning 44,121 live hosts and disrupting 77,396 livestreams for breaching community guidelines. The numbers reflect the company's expanded focus on real-time content moderation. However, 53,525 videos were restored in Morocco after successful appeals, indicating the company's willingness to reverse decisions when users demonstrate that content was removed in error. The enforcement actions in Morocco were part of a broader regional crackdown that saw TikTok remove over 16.5 million videos across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Iraq recorded the highest number of removals with 10 million videos taken down, followed by Egypt with over 2.9 million removals. The United Arab Emirates saw 1,051,226 video removals, while Lebanon had 1,349,478 videos removed. All countries in the region maintained proactive removal rates above 98%, with response times consistently under 24 hours for the majority of violations. TikTok's global enforcement efforts also extended to live content, where the platform 'stopped more than 19 million violative livestreams worldwide in Q1 2025 — a 50% increase from the previous quarter.' The company attributes this surge to enhanced automated moderation technologies capable of detecting policy violations in real-time streaming content. The platform maintained its commitment to transparency through an appeals process that allows users to contest moderation decisions. 'Upholding community guidelines remains a core priority for the platform,' TikTok said in its report. The platform adopts a hybrid approach that combines automated detection systems with human moderation review, and users are always informed when content is removed and retain the ability to appeal these decisions. The company indicated that its Q1 2025 figures reflect an 'evolving approach to community protection' that combines advanced technology with human oversight and community partnerships. Moroccans Spend Over MAD 15.5 Billion on Travel Abroad by June
Rabat – Moroccans' spending on travel abroad reached MAD 15.5 billion ($1.69 billion) in the first half of 2025, new data from the Moroccan exchange office has indicated. The number represents an increase of 8.2% in the first half of this year compared to MAD 14.33 billion ($1.56 billion) recorded during the same period last year. In addition, these new numbers reflect significant growth compared to the same period in 2021 and 2022, when Morocco's travel spending reached MAD 4.15 billion ($453.3 million) and MAD 7.95 billion ($869.3 million) during the same period, respectively. The relatively low numbers recorded in 2021 and 2022 were attributed to the lockdowns and travel restrictions triggered by COVID-19. In 2024, a survey by market research firm Sunergia listed travel preferences of Moroccans, showing that Spain, France, and Italy are the favorite international destinations for Moroccans. The three destinations attract 29%, 27%, and 17% of Moroccan visitors, respectively. Turkiye is also one of the top destinations for Moroccans, with 15% of the Sunergia survey respondents ranking the country as their favorite destination for summer vacation. As for local tourism, Moroccans prefer Tangier as a destination for tourism, alongside Marrakech and Agadir. About 38% of Moroccans see Tangier as their top destination, followed by Marrakech (33%), Agadir (26%), and Tetouan (22%). Casablanca comes in fifth position on the list, followed by Rabat, Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, and Ifrane. Tags: Morocco TourismMorocco tourism 2020 Vision Plan
