Panda Express Hosts Hot Orange Chicken Pop-Up in NYC

Time Out10-07-2025
Panda Express is turning up the heat—and the hype—for National Orange Chicken Day with a spicy splash in Midtown. From Tuesday, July 15 through Sunday, July 20, the brand's Midtown East location will transform into an immersive "Orange Chicken Kitchen" pop-up, celebrating the glorious return of the cult-favorite Hot Orange Chicken.
RECOMMENDED: The best Chinese spots in NYC include dim sum destinations and speakeasy-style venues
The sweet-yet-spicy dish (dubbed 'swicy' for its fiery flavor upgrade) first caused a frenzy during its 2024 debut and is now back by popular demand. Think the OG Orange Chicken, but amped up with six times the crushed chilies and a bold kick courtesy of scorched dried peppers (the same ones from the chain's Kung Pao Chicken). It's crunchy, sticky, slightly dangerous and completely addictive.
At the NYC pop-up, Panda's is turning its Third Avenue outpost into a love letter to its signature dish. Visitors can time-travel through Orange Chicken's greatest hits via a limited-edition menu, featuring everything from bone-in orange chicken wings to a bacon-laced throwback from 2014. Naturally, the Hot Orange Chicken takes center stage, and the rest of the store will follow suit, drenched in orange hues, decked with oversized art installations and stocked with spicy giveaways like collectible pins and claw machine tokens.
If you need more incentive than chili-glazed nostalgia, there's this: Anyone who orders a plate between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. during the pop-up gets a bonus small entrée of either the OG or Hot Orange Chicken, just for showing up and ordering like a fan.
'There's something magical about Orange Chicken—it's the ultimate American Chinese comfort food,' said Fabiola Del Rio, the vice-president of integrated marketing communications for Panda Express. 'The 'Orange Chicken Kitchen' pop-up in NYC is our love letter to everyone who's obsessed with Orange Chicken, whether you're team OG or team spicy.'
First launched in 1987, the brand's most iconic dish still accounts for a third of all entrées sold, with more than 137 million pounds served last year alone. But next week, it's getting the main character energy it deserves.

Black Myth Wukong release date for Xbox and when 2024's leading soulslike comes to the Series X

Black Myth: Wukong is finally making its way to Xbox Series X|S, and it's not too far away. Players can get ready to dive in with Wukong and the Monkey King with all of its Chinese mythology and sharp combat. The much-anticipated 2024 soulslike game, Black Myth: Wukong, is finally making its way to Xbox after Game Science's previous claims that the Xbox Series S wasn't robust enough to handle it. ‌ Black Myth: Wukong made quite the impact when it first landed on PlayStation and PC. While there's no shortage of soulslike games for players to delve into as FromSoftware continues to work on its multiplayer-player side quest in Elden Ring Nightreign, something about Wukong's Chinese mythology and responsive controls resonated with players in a way that other games simply couldn't match. This is the same reason why the appearance of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers on Xbox Game Pass was so thrilling. ‌ However, the game's journey was shrouded in controversy within the broader gaming community – the company claimed that the Xbox Series S simply wasn't capable of handling the game, which reportedly delayed the game's debut on Microsoft consoles this console generation. Forbes debunked this claim, reporting that an exclusivity deal was actually in place that the company was keeping under wraps, and Xbox took the flak for it – but now, presumably with the deal having expired (conveniently timed), it's finally arriving on Xbox Series X|S after a long wait. ‌ Despite initial doubts raised by Game Science about the game's compatibility with the Series S, it seems these concerns are now irrelevant. The team has confirmed in a blog post that all issues have been resolved and the game is set to launch on the console. For fans of soulslikes, the wait won't be long. So, when exactly is Black Myth: Wukong hitting Xbox? Here's what you need to know. Black Myth: Wukong Xbox release date The release date for Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19 at 7pm PDT / 10pm EDT, and Wednesday, August 20 at 3am BST. This information comes directly from Game Science, who revealed that the Xbox port of Black Myth: Wukong will be released on Wednesday, August 20 (Hong Kong time), coinciding with the exact time the full game was launched a year ago. The game has a lot to prove to new players on Microsoft consoles, particularly as every other console has had a significant head start. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has already made a positive impact on Xbox Game Pass. Interestingly, the game's arrival on the console exactly a year after its initial release fuels speculation about an exclusivity deal – but for many players, this is no longer a concern. It's time to dive in.

American in UK tries fish and chips but is told they've 'made a mistake'

Sarah Renee, an American who moved to the UK, frequently shares her thoughts on British foods and various UK brands. In her most recent review, she chose to sample the classic dish of fish and chips. Fish and chips, an iconic British dish adored by millions, is a staple in school canteens every Friday and countless shops across the nation specialise in this beloved classic. It seems our friends across the pond are also keen to sample this national treasure, including Sarah Renee, an American expat now living in the UK. ‌ Known for her TikTok reviews of British food and popular UK brands like Greggs, SpudBros and Toby Carvery, Sarah recently went on a five-hour journey to Bournemouth to taste the seaside town's famed fish and chips, comparing it to the fare back home in Orange County, Southern California. ‌ At Harry Ramsden's, she ordered a large cod with a regular portion of chips, gravy, mushy peas and curry sauce. ‌ Firstly, she took a bite of the fish, describing the flavour as "incredible" before dipping some into the gravy, mistakenly thinking it was meant for the fish and not just the chips. Finding the combination "unique", she then sampled the curry sauce with the fish, confessing: "I've never heard of curry and fish and chips but I'm gonna try it anyway." Deciding she preferred the fish with curry sauce over gravy, she next tried a chip dunked in gravy, declaring: "That's much better than the one at the Chinese." ‌ Wrapping up her review, Sarah enthused: "Okay this tastes nothing like California fish and chips so this is fantastic. "I'm giving Harry Ramsden a ten out of ten. This is phenomenal." Harry Ramsden's, a renowned fast food chain in the UK, is famed for its fish and chips. ‌ Its Bournemouth branch, situated on the seafront, boasts seating for up to 420 diners. While the restaurant 's signature dish is fish and chips, it also offers a variety of other options, including wholetail scampi, a selection of beef, chicken, cod or halloumi burgers and a classic caesar salad. Sarah's TikTok video has sparked more than 1,900 comments, with several viewers suggesting she should have avoided Harry Ramsden's. ‌ A local from Bournemouth commented: "I'm from Bournemouth, this is the worst fish and chips you can get. It's a chain restaurant, so many better places to go, always go local. Total tourist trap." Another viewer agreed: "Harry Ramsden's is a chain though, it's even better from an independent chippy." A third chimed in: "I hate to tell you this but Harry Ramsden's is the worst fish and chips going, it's a chain. Try Lakeside in Poole, if you're still in the area! It's the best." A fourth remarked: "Harry Ramsden's is not the best way to try British fish and chips as they're a chain." However, one Harry Ramsden's fan defended the chain: "I went to the exact same restaurant twice a couple of weeks ago because it was sooo good."
