Farmall update brings manual transmission to top models
In what appears to be a rare trickle-up of basic technology into more advanced tractors, Case is now offering the higher powered Farmall C series with its ManualDrive transmission, albeit with electronic powershift.
The revised larger 100-117hp tractors in the Case IH Farmall C series, which are powered by a FPT F36 four-cylinder Stage 5 engine, can now be specified with the company's ManualDrive transmission as an alternative to the established ActiveDrive 2.
The standard ManualDrive option is a 12 forward/12 reverse gear (12F/12R) transmission (or 20×20 with creeper), which comes with an electronic clutchless power shuttle that can be modulated for response speed, easing operator strain and making these tractors more suited to loader work.
The ActiveDrive transmission is a two-speed powershift transmission with a power clutch that offers 24X24 ratios, increasing to 40X40 when fitted with the creeper gear option.
Large tyres and loaders
A maximum rear tyre size of 540/65 R38 can now be specified to maximise grip and field performance for tillage and other heavy-duty operations.
To further increase their suitability for loader work, both transmission versions feature the new ActiveClutch, which disengages the connection between engine and transmission when the footbrakes are pressed.
Although designed to be loader-friendly, the Farmall range is still quite capable of tillage operations
This is claimed to reduce operator fatigue and improve ease of use, particularly for less experienced users.
Also available as factory-fitted, the new Case IH L635 loader will lift 2.0t to 3.8m, and is available with an auto-locking, fast multi-coupler for loader services, mechanical self-levelling, and a third function.
The new models will ultimately be available with either a cab or a rollover protection system (ROPS), to match different customer needs.
Farmall guidance choice
Options for Farmall C tractors include ISOBUS Class 2 electric autoguidance, which can be fitted at the factory.
ISOBUS Class 1 is basic feedback from an implement to a tractor display, while Class 2 is where the implement can be controlled from the tractor or inputs other than from the operator can direct certain tractor functions.
In addition, data is instantly and automatically uploaded to the new FieldOps platform for unified web and mobile access, aiding recording, management, and decision-making.

Case brings Optum range up to scratch with digital lift
Case IH has applied its latest round of upgrades to its Optum series, which has three different models with rated power outputs of 271hp, 300hp and 340hp. These three machines can now be ordered with new technology packages which are claimed to help customers easily match specifications to their key requirements. Another improvement is that the joystick option for precision control of the front linkage has been revamped to enable control of the rear linkage as well. Joystick precision The configurable joystick incorporated into the Multicontroller armrest on Optum tractors has been updated to proportionately control both the front and rear linkages, for situations where both may be used simultaneously. Joystick functions can now be configured using the tractor's Case IH Pro 1200 touchscreen display, which is claimed to simplify setting up the tractor to suit the operator and the task, whether using a front and rear combination – such as a pair of mowers – or a rear implement only – a plough, for example. Mix and match The tech packages can be combined with the existing Advanced or Professional specification packages, which Case says will simplify the ordering process while also enhancing resale value. The Optums are designed for heavy work and have been brought up to date with Case's latest digital technology All three packages include the armrest-mounted Pro 1200 touchscreen display, with a readiness package (harness and mount ball) for a second display. Customers can also choose to order the second and third-level tech pack options if they wish to specify greater levels of automation and higher-accuracy AccuGuide auto-steering. Optum connectivity Optum tractors now come with with connectivity as standard, enabling owners to further exploit the tractor's potential in the field. Connected services and Case's FieldOps app capabilities are provided throughout the life of the machine's connectivity modem, with no recurring subscription fees. Additionally, when added to a customer account, new Optum models will enable qualifying existing machines to be upgraded to Connectivity Included at no extra cost. With FieldOps, customers gain near real-time access to both their machine and agronomic data simplifying the monitoring, planning, and evaluation of all operations as well as streamlining workflows and maximising efficiency, whatever the task.

Case boost Magnum tractor range to 435hp
Case has reshuffled its top end line-up with three new Magnum models for the 2025 season that boast transmission, hydraulic, and digital tech updates. The new tractors are all powered by a six cylinder, 8.7L, stage V engine from FPT and are available as the Magnum 355 (390hp), the 385 (417hp), and the 405 (435hp). The first two models can be boosted to 410hp and 435hp, while the Magnum 405 has no boost facility and is rated at a straight 435hp. The Magnum 385 and 405 models can also be specified in Rowtrac configuration, which features rear track units for enhanced traction and reduced soil compaction. Case has persevered with the manual transmission, even at this power level, and offers a choice of a 21F/5R PowerDrive full powershift or its own continuously-variable CVXDrive transmission (CVT) . While the cost premium of a CVT are not appreciated by many, the advantages of a CVT are, so to help blur the line between the two the company has added a further feature to its PowerDrive transmission. This takes the form of a brake-to-clutch feature that disengages the transmission when the brake pedals are depressed, enhancing stopping safety and precise movement when manoeuvring or attaching implements. Rear track assemblies rather than wheels can be chosen for the larger two models When the brakes are released, the tractor accelerates to its previous speed, and the operator can set and choose from three ratio settings between brake force and tractor deceleration, features that bring CVT-like convenience and operating function to the full powershift, according to Case. Furthermore, through the Case IH Pro 1200 display, users can adjust the acceleration rate, make 15% speed changes to the target speed, and alter upshift sensitivity and aggressiveness rate settings. Upgraded Magnum hydraulics New horizontally mounted electrohydraulic remote valve assemblies provide increased reliability, an improved hydraulic power curve, and maximum oil retention. The power beyond fitting has been relocated for better access, and new 0.5in and 0.75in pressure relief lever-assisted couplers make connecting and disconnecting hydraulic pipes easier. The optional front hitch now features mid-mount valves with a higher-performing valve slice, providing 20% more maximum pressure-side flow (120L/min) for enhanced lift performance. Choice of tech Like several other Case IH models, Magnum tractors are now available with three technology packages, allowing customers to select the best fit for their operation. The three digital tech packages available come with connectivity as standard Magnum tractors are also available with AccuSync, which allows multiple machines to connect within a field, sharing data such as A-B lines and coverage maps. The Pro 1200 display screen is subject to reduced glare in all lighting conditions, and can be remotely viewed by the owner and dealer for monitoring as well as operating and service support. The first European showing of the new Magnum tractors will be at Demoagro, in Medina del Campo, Valladolid, Spain, from May 20-22, 2025.
