Stiller out, Burkardt in for Germany's Nations League games
BERLIN (AP) — Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has called up Mainz forward Jonathan Burkardt to his squad for upcoming Nations League games after Stuttgart's Angelo Stiller dropped out with an injury.
Burkardt will join the team at its training base in Herzogenaurach on Friday, the German soccer federation said Tuesday, in preparation for the Nations League semifinal against Portugal in Munich on Wednesday, and the final or third-place playoff against either Spain or France four days later.
The 24-year-old Burkardt has played three games for Germany. He was the Bundesliga's top-scoring German player with 18 goals for Mainz this season.
Stiller, who starred for Stuttgart as the team won the German Cup on Saturday, dropped out with a recurrence of the ankle ligament injury that had kept him out for two weeks previously. The DFB said Stiller has 'not completely healed.'
Stiller was involved in three of Stuttgart's four goals as it defeated Arminia Bielefeld 4-2 in the cup final.

Kane Williamson again turns down a central contract with New Zealand Cricket
WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — Ex-captain Kane Williamson has again rejected a central contract with New Zealand Cricket and likely will miss the Black Caps two test tour to Zimbabwe next month. Williamson also decided not to accept a central contract last year, to leave himself free to play in Twenty20 and other leagues around the world. He instead signed a casual contract last year and still played in nine of New Zealand's 13 tests in 2024, scoring more than 1,000 runs. Williamson was absent from the list of 20 contracted players released by New Zealand Cricket on Tuesday, along with Devon Conway, Finn Allen, Tim Seifert and Lockie Ferguson who also are playing in T20 leagues overseas. He is expected again to sign a casual contract. Allrounders Muhammad Abbas and Zak Foulkes, wicketkeeper Mitch Hay and spinner Adi Ashok are contracted for the first time in the absence of Tim Southee, who has retired, Ish Sodhi, Ajaz Patel and Josh Clarkson. Williamson currently is playing for Middlesex in the English County Championship and T20 Blast and for the London Spirit in The Hundred. He is expected to have county commitments while New Zealand plays Zimbabwe in late July and early August. In a news conference in London last month, Williamson said that his future on a casual contract is 'just a work in progress and New Zealand Cricket have been great with working with that and I've been fortunate throughout.' The 20 contracted players were ranked on domestic and international performances over the past year. 'The contracts with Mitch, Muhammad, Adi and Zak reflect the incredible talent coming through our system,' New Zealand Cricket chief executive Scott Weenink said. Murray State jumps on Ole Miss, holds on to win Oxford Regional 12-11 for 1st super regional berth
OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Luke Mistone and Will Vierling had four hits apiece in Murray State's 19-hit attack and the Racers won the Oxford Regional by holding off 15th-seeded Ole Miss 12-11 on Monday night to make their first super regional. The Racers (42-14) advance to the Durham Super Regional against unseeded Duke, which won the Athens Regional. Murray State is the third straight Missouri Valley Conference team to make the second weekend after Indiana State (2023) and Evansville (2024). Mistone and Vierling both went 4 for 5 and Carson Garner and Dom Decker both had three hits as the Racers shocked the team that pounded them 19-8 on Sunday night by opening a 12-3 lead in the seventh inning. Ole Miss (43-21) used a single, a hit batter and three straight walks to turn the game around. Luke Hill had a two-run single and Will Furniss another single to make it 12-8. Graham Kelham got two strikeouts to end the inning. A video review was used to overturn a hit batter that would have loaded the bases with one out. Brayden Randle hit his first home run of the season, a three-run shot in the eighth to make it a one-run game. Kelham allowed two more singles before getting out of the inning and then had a perfect ninth. He gave up six hits in 2 2/3 innings but struck out six to get his seventh save. Nic Schutte (8-3), who started in the Racers' 9-6 win over the Rebels on Friday, got the win in relief. Hunter Goodman homers twice as Rockies beat Marlins to end 8-game losing streak
MIAMI (AP) — Hunter Goodman homered twice, including a go-ahead two-run shot in the fifth inning, and the Colorado Rockies beat the Miami Marlins 6-4 on Monday night to snap their fourth eight-game losing streak of the season. It was the 10th win against 50 losses for the Rockies, who had already wrapped up the worst 60-game start in the modern era (since 1901). The 1904 Washington Senators and 1932 Boston Red Sox both opened 11-49. Goodman had a two-out single in the first off Max Meyer, and Thairo Estrada followed with an RBI double to give Colorado the lead. Goodman was charged with an error in the bottom half when he dropped a throw at home plate, allowing the tying run to score.
