Celtic respond to Livingston trolling with cheeky attendance dig after viral restricted view post

Daily Record5 days ago
Brendan Rodgers' side host Davie Martindale's man next weekend and the clubs have been having some fun at each others' expense
After being trolled by Livingston over the famous restricted view in the away end, Celtic have hit back with a tongue in cheek response.

The Lions visit Parkhead on Premiership duty on Saturday August 23, and shared the key info with punters planning to make the trip to Glasgow with an image of one of the Parkhead pillars that obstruct the view of some seats in the corner where travelling fans are usually housed.

The post went viral, with many fans able to relate after away days in the East End of Glasgow that have seen them afforded a similar view of the action.

But now the champions have issued a response of their own.
The West Lothian club are officially the youngest in Scotland's top flight after being formed in 1995 and tend to take less of a support than the more established names.
And Celtic 's supporter liaison officer couldn't resist a cheeky attendance-based dig.
He replied with an image of a solitary car parking space with the caption: "You forgot to include supporter parking info" along with a tongue out, winking emoji.

Celtic vs Kairat Almaty LIVE score and goal updates from Champions League playoff clash

It's been a solid start to the season for Celtic but you get the sense it's all been building up to this one. The Hoops' Champions League campaign gets started tonight as Kairat Almaty come to town with a place in the competition proper on the line. And the importance of a home result couldn't be more clear – after all, a Scottish side has never won away in Kazakhstan. Wins over St Mirren, Aberdeen and Falkirk have greased the wheels for Brendan Rodgers ' side but they face a team deep into their domestic season who have already come through three European ties to get here. Victory over Slovan Bratislava in the last round showed they are no mugs and while Celtic are heavy favourites to progress, anything other than a convincing victory tonight will set up some nerves for next week's gruelling trip to central Asia. It's one of the more favourable draws Celtic could have got but it's certainly no gimmie.

Rangers' potential Champions League qualifying earnings

Rangers are guaranteed league phase football in the Europa League regardless of the outcome in the second leg against Brugge in Belgium next week. However, there is a significant difference in the UEFA payments for involvement in the league phase of the Champions League and Europa League. Purely considering the equal shares starting fees, which does not factor in performance bonuses and the UEFA value pillar payments, there is a €14m gap. Read more: For winning in the play-off round and advancing to the Champions League league phase, Rangers would bank €18.62m. However, they would not be entitled to any payment for their involvement in the play-off round as that is not paid to clubs that qualify for the league phase. UEFA guidance states: "A team that loses the UCL play-offs will receive no payments for participating in the qualifying rounds (but will receive the UCL play-offs amounts as well as the UEL league phase amounts both coming from the centralised phase distribution)". If Rangers drop out of the Champions League and into the league phase of the Europa League, they would be paid the €4.29m fee for competing in the play-off round. Rangers would also be paid the €4.31m for qualification to the league phase of the Europa League for the 2025/26 season. If Rangers qualify for the Champions League: Champions League league phase qualification: €18.62m Champions League play-off involvement: €0m (payment voided due to qualification for league phase proper) Total: €18.62m If Rangers drop into the Europa League: Champions League play-off involvement: €4.29m Europa League league phase qualification: €4.31m Total: €8.60m
