"People in poverty reduced by 279 million, economy doubled": Hardeep Singh Puri on 11 years of Modi government

New Delhi [India], June 9 (ANI): Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Monday said that in the last 11 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government, India has seen major development, with poverty levels falling sharply and the economy growing fast. He said that according to the World Bank, 279 million people have come out of poverty, and the poverty rate has dropped from 24 per cent to 5.3 per cent. He also said the size of India's economy has doubled from $2 trillion to $4.3 trillion. Speaking to ANI, Hardeep Singh Puri said, 'If you look at the work done on the development front in the 11 years, the figures are mind boggling and those figures if you compare with the previous period post 1947, you could say that these are transformational figures, but the most staggering figure I think comes from the fact that people living under poverty multidimensional or abject poverty, they have been reduced by 279 million according to the World Bank. Also, the poverty rate has come down from 24% to 5.3%, which is very, very remarkable. The size of the economy has doubled, which has gone from a 2 trillion dollar economy to a 4.3 trillion dollar economy. We are growing at a much faster rate than the countries we have overtaken and the countries we are competing with...' Earlier, as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government completed 11 years, BJP President and Union Minister JP Nadda highlighted the various achievements of the government, including good governance, change in India's 'political culture,' and several bold decisions taken. Addressing a press conference, Nadda said that Prime Minister Modi has changed the country's political culture and established a new normal and a new order. Nadda said, 'We are completing 11 years under PM Modi's leadership. It is very difficult to confine 11 years in a press conference. The work done under PM Modi's leadership is written in the golden words because of the unimaginable and unique works. PM Modi has changed the country's politics, political culture. The country was appeased 11 years ago. Earlier, saving a political chair by dividing the society was the norm. When I say he changed the political culture of the country, it means politics of performance, responsive and responsible government, along with politics of report card, which means we are accountable. The work we are doing is in front of the public.' 'I can proudly say that in the last 11 years, the government led by PM Modi has changed the culture of Indian politics and established a new normal, a new order. This government is effective, this government takes strong decisions, it is a government that brings economic discipline,' he added. Lauding the efforts of the Modi government, the BJP National President noted that the past 11 years have laid a strong foundation for a truly developed and self-reliant India. Narendra Modi first took oath as the Prime Minister of India on May 26, 2014, and is currently serving his third consecutive term. Last year, he took oath as Prime Minister on June 9 after winning elections for the third term. Marking the occasion, the Union government also released a comprehensive e-book detailing achievements across various sectors over the past 11 years. The year 2025 marks 11 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government. (ANI)

UP govt plans ‘flat-like' factory in Greater Noida for MSMEs

Aiming to boost the medium and small scale (MSME) industries in the state, the UP government has decided to develop a flat-like ('flatted') factory space in Greater Noida with an estimated expenditure of Rs 125 crore. The factory space will be developed by Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) in Sector 28 of Greater Noida. Officials said that while the initial survey and preparations of the master plan are in process, the target is to get the project ready within two years. 'As per the plan, the idea is to provide the state-of-the-art infrastructure to MSME units in a shared complex, which would reduce their cost of production and other input costs as well. It will be provided as a fully equipped unit by the YEIDA with all the essential facilities, so that the units can start production and operations smoothly,' an official said. Officials said that with UP already having a large MSME base, this project would help not only achieve economic targets by bringing in new investment but would also help general employment opportunities. 'The project will be on EPC model — Engineering, Procurement, and Construction — with a three-year defect liability period,' the official added. The 'flatted' factory will have multi-storeys — a basement, a ground floor, and three floors that will all cover an area of over 38,665 square metres. As per the project plan, along with the main multi-storied building, the government will also develop a complex for any future needs. 'The flatted factory will also have internal water supply, electricity, fire safety systems, elevators, as well as HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), meeting the requirement of the MSMEs,' the official said. Further, the government would also provide pre-installed security features like CCTV, access control, and other electronic systems, the official added. While the design has been proposed to follow green building standards, the complex is also proposed to have 24 and 30-meter-wide roads connectivity linking it to the highway for ease of transportation of the goods. Officials said the government would also provide boundary walls, gates, guard rooms, internal roads, parking, drainage, sewage, water supply, plumbing pumps, fire safety systems, and landscaping, which would help ease the setting up of MSME units and with a fast pace, thereby reducing other costs.

Diversification, policy reforms aid Odisha's industrial progress: CM

1 2 3 4 Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the BJP govt's one-year anniversary, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday said that Odisha is becoming a "diversified industrial powerhouse" and a top investment destination in the country by not just approving investments worth Rs 4.5 lakh crore but also successfully grounding projects worth Rs 1.78 lakh crore. "Odisha is no longer just a minerals and metals hub. We are becoming a diversified industrial powerhouse, where opportunity flows from port to plant, and from cities to every aspirational district," the CM said during a meeting with leading industrialists and entrepreneurs in the city. "We are not merely sanctioning projects; we are grounding them. We are not making promises; we are delivering results — at scale, with speed, and with purpose," Majhi said. Mapping the industrial growth story, he said, "In just one year, we approved over 200 large and mega projects. Odisha now stands for credibility, competitiveness and commitment to progress." The CM said industries are diversifying from minerals and metals to green energy, agro-processing, technical textiles and shipbuilding, with investments flowing into 20 sectors. He attributed the success to proactive policy push like outcome-based governance and a "whole-of-govt model" that emphasises seamless coordination between departments and agencies. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 오스템 임플란트 받아가세요 임플란터 더 알아보기 Undo Roadshows in Delhi, Mumbai and Singapore have pitched Odisha as a hub for chemical, electronics, capital goods and advanced manufacturing, while two major events, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and Utkarsh Odisha — Make in Odisha Conclave-2025, attracted global attention and industrial giants expanding the state's economic footprint, Majhi said.
