Aamir Khan, known for guarding his upcoming projects with utmost secrecy, has finally offered a rare update on one of his most anticipated collaborations. While promoting his upcoming release Sitaare Zameen Par, the superstar revealed key details about his big-scale superhero film with Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj.
In a conversation with Just Too Filmy, Aamir said, 'Lokesh and I are doing a film together. Ye film agle saal banegi. He is right now going to shoot Kaithi. So, next year, August-September we will start." This puts the expected shoot schedule for the project in the latter half of 2026.
The actor had earlier shared with media in a closed-door interaction that the project is a full-fledged superhero film. 'Lokesh and I are doing a film together. It's a superhero film — a big-scale action outing. The film will begin in the second half of 2026. We have both signed it. I cannot reveal anything further," he had said.
Fans are naturally thrilled at the prospect of two powerhouse talents joining hands. Lokesh Kanagaraj has carved a niche for himself with gripping action dramas like Kaithi, Master, and Vikram. His distinct narrative style and flair for intense action sequences make this team-up with Aamir Khan especially exciting.
Meanwhile, Aamir is gearing up for the release of Sitaare Zameen Par. The film, which explores themes close to his heart, will follow an unconventional release strategy. A Pinkvilla report suggests that Sitaare Zameen Par will initially release on approximately 1,250 screens. The release model will be flexible, with show counts increasing in real-time based on audience response.
A source close to the project revealed, 'The makers were exploring several release ideas, and the plan at the moment is to bring the film on approximately 1250 screens. Aamir Khan is confident of the film, and is well aware about the change in audience dynamics, which is the reason why he is looking at a longer game than a shorter one."

With this, the total collection of Thug Life stands at Rs 42.25 crore, reported Sacnilk. The film, which was released on June 5, faced tough competition from Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 at the box office. Thug Life saw an 'overall 15.57% Tamil Occupancy,' the report added. The film has been backed by Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies. Trisha Krishnan, T.R. Silambarasan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, and Mahesh Manjrekar are also part of the film. Kamal Haasan collaborated with Main Ratnam after 38 years for Thug Life. They last film together was Nayakan in 1987. Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter India, Kamal Haasan opened up about his admiration for Mani Ratnam. 'We both wrote the lm together. When I say we wrote it together, it's not the noise of two pens scribbling together. I nished what I perceived would be a good lm to make. I nished a script, and it was called 'Amar Hai', which is a pun. A man who is believed to be dead is not dead. His name is 'Amar', and that is the problem. I had etched it, and then Mani took it as an idea and went on to embellish it,' he said. Film critic Saibal Chatterjee, in his NDTV review, gave Thug Life 2 stars. He said.
