NYT ‘Connections' Hints For Friday, June 27: Clues And Answers For Today's Game

Each day's game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before we get to today's Connections hints and answers, here are Thursday's:
Hey there, Connectors! The weekend is right around the corner and I hope it's a wonderful one for you.
This week, you may have seen that The New York Times published a list of the 100 best movies of the 21st century, as voted on by hundreds of film industry creatives. There's an option for readers to submit their own ballots too. I decided to do that and figured I may as well share my picks with you folks as well.
I didn't give this too much thought. I just went with the first 10 films since 2000 that came to mind that I truly, deeply love. They are:
I would say that if you're curious about watching The Endless that you should first watch Resolution from the same filmmakers, as there's a link between the films. I adore all of these, though. Movies are just the best.
Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot, and you're more than welcome to hang out with us.
Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don't look at the comments or Twitter much. You can also read my weekend editions of this column at my new newsletter, Pastimes.
Today's NYT Connections hints and answers for Friday, June 27 are coming right up.
How To Play Connections
Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on the NYT's website or Games app.
You're presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part.
There's only one solution for each puzzle, and you'll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them.
Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay.
Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you're incorrect, you'll lose a life. If you're close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you're one word away from getting it right, but you'll still need to figure out which one to swap.
If you make four mistakes, it's game over. Let's make sure that doesn't happen with the help of some hints, and, if you're really struggling, today's Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.
If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the publication's Connections archive. This includes every previous game of Connections, so you can go back and play any of those that you have missed.

Today's Connections answers are...
I'm not going to keep you in suspense this time. I found this one pretty easy. It was one of those times when everything kind of gelled together in my brain all at once.
Seeing BLUES and MARX next to each other made the purples clear pretty much straight away. BLOOD Brothers could refer to the musical, band or two people not related by birth who swear loyalty to each other. The CHEMICAL Brothers are a legendary electronic music group. Cool to see them referenced here, and I'm happy to see them pop up as my well of recommendations was running a little dry.
Anyway, the Sesame Street characters (Big BIRD, COUNT Von COUNT, Oscar the GROUCH and Cookie or Telly MONSTER) were clear as day. I wasn't sure whether the angel elements or the fashionable words would be the greens. I took a guess and I wasn't quite right.
So close to the reverse rainbow! Still, my streak is up to 122 wins. Here's my grid:

That's all there is to it for today's Connections clues and answers. I'll be back with you all here on Monday. In the meantime, you can check out my weekend editions of this column in my newsletter, Pastimes.
P.S. The Chemical Brothers have a ton of great songs. "Let Forever Be" is probably my favorite, but we're going into the weekend, so let's go with something that's got more of a dancey vibe. Featuring vocals from the great Q-Tip, "Galvanize" is a great track. Friends, my finger is on the button:
Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love!

Anna Wintour hiring new head of editorial content for American Vogue

Anna Wintour is shifting her position at American Vogue. Wintour informed staff members on Thursday that she would be looking for someone to take over her role at Vogue and handle more of the day-to-day operations, according to the Associated Press. Wintour has served as editor-in-chief since 1988. The 75-year-old also serves as the chief content officer for Condé Nast and is the global editorial director for Vogue. According to the Associated Press, the new head of editorial content will report directly to Wintour, who will maintain her role as global editorial director. As chief content officer, Wintour personally overlooked brands including Wired, Vanity Fair, GQ, AD, Condé Nast Traveler, Glamour, Bon Appétit, Tatler, World of Interiors, Allure and others under the Condé Nast umbrella. Per Women's Wear Daily, Wintour employing a new head of editorial content will allow her more time "to support the markets more equally, in addition to leading all titles at Condé Nast, with the exception of The New Yorker." Along with serving Vogue for decades, Wintour has been the Met Gala co-chair since 1995. The most specific details of the famed Met Gala, which takes place every year at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in collaboration with the museum's Costume Institute on the first Monday in May, is decided by Wintour. Wintour reportedly has the ultimate sign-off over the event's high-profile guest list and seating chart. Known for her signature bob cut and dark sunglasses, the British-born journalist's career has made for countless articles tracking her rise to one of the most prominent positions in the fashion editorial world since she began forging her way atop the totem pole in London back in the 1960s. Wintour quickly climbed the ranks of fashion journalism after stops at New York Magazine and House and Garden before she landed the role of editor at British Vogue — which she held from 1985 to 1987 before taking over the Vogue imprint entirely. She also had previous stints at Viva and Savvy — as well as Harper's & Queen, where she worked as an editorial assistant. Wintour then jumped to Harper's Bazaar, where she worked as a junior fashion editor. In 2022, Wintour was estimated to be worth around $35 million. She is also said to have the final say on anything printed in Vogue. In 1989, Wintour reshaped the future of high-fashion magazine covers when Vogue released its May issue that featured the controversial Madonna as its main draw. It was the first time that any celebrity had graced the coveted cover.

Social media influencer ‘Liver King' released from jail — and is still seemingly challenging Joe Rogan to fight

Social media influencer Brian Johnson — also known as "Liver King" — has been released from jail in Austin, Texas, after seemingly challenging Joe Rogan to fight him in a series of Instagram videos. In a new video posted to his 2.9 million Instagram followers on June 25, Johnson, 47, does not address Rogan by name but refers to the podcast host's Comedy Mothership club because he does not 'want to give any details, nor names.' 'Some guy, he thought if you just put him in jail … have the Violent Crimes Division, have them come arrest him for a terroristic threat, and the whole time that terroristic threat you thought was a bomb or something, inside that box, is actually a present back for you and your Mothership colleagues for having my wife and me at the Mothership,' said Johnson, before claiming the terroristic threat charge has since been reduced. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Liver King (@liverking) In a separate video, Johnson shows off his ankle monitor and reveals that Rogan took out a restraining order against him, which prevents him from coming within 200 yards of the podcaster. Johnson, at times calling Rogan by name, said he has a 9 p.m. curfew and is not allowed out of 'that space,' presumably his Austin hotel room, until 6 a.m. the following day. 'Rogan vs. Liver King,' Johnson added, is still happening. Johnson, in another video, said that he's been ordered to get a psychiatric evaluation this week and then once a month 'for a while.' He reiterated, however, that the videos aren't going to stop. He also repeatedly calls out actor Seth Rogen instead of Rogan himself. 'How do you train for a Seth Rogen kind of fight? He's a very qualified filmmaker, I think,' said Johnson. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Liver King (@liverking) Johnson was booked around 5:30 p.m. local time on June 24 by the Austin Police Department. He was charged with terroristic threat, a Class B misdemeanor, according to police records. Johnson, in a series of videos posted to his 2.9 million Instagram followers between June 23 and 24, expressed interest in wanting to fight Rogan, with whom he's been beefing with online for several years. Johnson chronicled his journey to Austin, where Rogan lives. 'Detectives reviewed the posts and observed that Johnson was traveling to Austin while continuing to make threatening statements,' the police said in a statement obtained by the Hollywood Reporter. 'Detectives contacted Mr. Rogan, who stated he had never had any interaction with Johnson and considered the posts to be threatening. Based on this information, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Johnson on a charge of terroristic threat.' In a video posted by Johnson on June 23, the social media influencer, shirtless and with a wolf head hat on, challenges Rogan to a battle, as meditation music plays in the background. 'Joe Rogan, I'm calling you out,' said Johnson. 'My name's Liver King. Man to man, I'm picking a fight with you. Yeah. I have no training in jiu-jitsu. You're a black belt. You should dismantle me. But I'm picking a fight with you. Your rules. … I'll cut weight. I'll come to you. Whenever you're ready. Whenever you're ready to go.' Johnson continued to document his journey to Rogan in a series of rambling videos, often addressing the podcaster directly. In one video shared on June 24, Johnson tells Rogan, 'We have real tension.' 'Joe Rogan, we don't have to make videos to pretend anymore. All of this is happening. We're coming to you,' said Johnson. 'I've challenged you, man to man, to a fight. Honorable. … You can hold the hand of somebody that you love, because what happens next to you, you're going to need to remember that feeling. You're going to need something more than what you did to give you something to fight for, because I have my family to fight for and that I'll die for them. 'And you're a black belt, [but] you've never come across something like this,' he continued. '[I'm] willing to die, hoping that you'll choke me out. I pray to God, that's a dream come true because it feels good.' Police located Johnson at his Four Seasons Hotel room in downtown Austin at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday night, according to KXAN Austin. In the moments leading up to his arrest, Johnson, in a video posted to his Instagram, is seen embracing his wife, Barbara, and their two sons, Stryker and Rad, while saying a prayer. Johnson is then shown being handcuffed and escorted into the back of a police vehicle in his most recent video, which was posted on June 24. Johnson rose to internet fame as a controversial social media influencer known for leading what he calls an 'ancestral lifestyle' that is driven largely by his consumption of raw meat. Johnson's rise to notoriety and eventual fall from grace was chronicled in the Netflix documentary, Untold: The Liver King, released on May 13, 2025. The documentary also explores Johnson's contentious history with Rogan, and the moment that ignited it. During a December 2022 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan mocked Johnson's assertion that his bulked-out physique was the result of his ancestral diet rather than steroid use. After emails between Johnson and a doctor were leaked in 2022, the fitness influencer was forced to admit that he regularly spent $11,000 per month on performance-enhancing drugs. Johnson was later hit with a $25 million class-action lawsuit, which alleged that the influencer and his company led a 'marketing and advertising scheme,' with his 'dangerous and life-threatening' raw meat diet. The lawsuit was later dismissed.

Anna Wintour stepping back from editorial role at U.S. Vogue

Anna Wintour, the long-time global editorial director of Vogue, is taking a step back from her editorial duties at the fashion publication. She will continue to oversee Vogue globally in her post as the publication's global editorial director, while Vogue U.S. will recruit a new head of editorial content. Wintour on Thursday announced the new job title, head of editorial content, American Vogue. "She is still very much staying at Conde/Vogue," Vogue publisher Condé Nast said in a statement to CBS News. Wintour, 75, remains at the top of Vogue's masthead, as she retains her title as Vogue's global editorial director. She is also the chief content officer for Condé Nast. In that role, she will oversee media brands including Wired, Vanity Fair, GQ and Condé Nast Traveler. Wintour became editor-in-chief of Vogue in 1988 and has been seen as one of the most figures in fashion for decades. Vogue's global creative director is Raúl Martinez, and Taylor Antrim is U.S. Deputy editor. Chloe Malle edits Condé Nast overhauled its editorial structure in 2021, when it united its global editorial teams. Today, each market has a head of editorial content plus a global editorial director. The change at Vogue means that the U.S. version of the publication will bring a new editorial leader for the U.S. Other editions of the publication, such as Vogue Japan or Vogue France, also have a head of editorial content position, each led by a global editorial director. Once filled, the newly created U.S. position will allow Wintour to focus more on her roles as Vogue's global editorial director and Condé Nast's chief content officer. Wintour is widely considered to be the most powerful figure in the fashion industry, and is believed to have inspired Meryl Streep's icy Miranda Priestly, editor of the fictional Runway magazine, in the 2006 film "The Devil Wears Prada." "It was entertainment. It was not a true rendition of what happens within this magazine," Wintour told 60 Minutes in 2009. contributed to this report.
