Aberdeen, a 6'5' junior guard, spent three seasons with the Gators, playing an underrated yet crucial role in their 2025 NCAA Tournament run.
Known for his solid shooting and versatility, he dropped 22 points against South Carolina and 20 points against Mississippi State earlier this season, showcasing his ability to step up in big moments.
His transfer to the Wildcats, a perennial powerhouse under head coach Mark Pope, adds fuel to the already heated Florida-Kentucky rivalry.

The Gators have been active in the portal, adding guard Xaivian Lee, but losing Aberdeen—alongside other departures like Sam Alexis—could impact their depth as they aim to defend their title.

Meanwhile, Kentucky fans are celebrating the addition, with Pope's transfer portal haul now ranking No. 3 nationally, according to 247Sports.
Aberdeen's experience and scoring ability are expected to make an immediate impact for the Wildcats, who are building a formidable 2025-26 roster.
As the transfer portal continues to reshape college basketball, this move underscores the competitive nature of the SEC.
The Gators now face the challenge of replacing a key contributor, while the Wildcats gain a proven talent ready to shine in Lexington.

Florida's DJ Lagway among The Athletic's most interesting college football people
The upcoming college football season is packed with intrigue, no doubt, as the nation's favorite gridiron gang returns to the field this fall. From players to head coaches to athletic directors — and even including members of the media — there is no shortage of characters to play lead roles in the 2025 campaign's dramatic unveiling. With just one week remaining before Week 0's opening kickoff, The Athletic's senior writer Joe Rexrode put together his list of the top 25 most interesting college football people. Among those selected was Florida Gators sophomore quarterback DJ Lagway, who carries the weight of the entire program on his shoulders heading into his first year as a true starter. His late-season heroics last fall helped save Billy Napier's head coaching job while also snapping a streak of futility for the Orange and Blue. Expectations remain high for the gunslinger out of Willis, Texas, but injuries have unfortunately ruled the narrative surrounding him of late. "Unfortunately, some of the intrigue relates to Lagway's preseason injuries, and he's had a few of them dating to the hamstring he pulled last season against Georgia," Rexrode begins. "That's the only game the Gators lost with him as a starter, winning the other six, and there's plausible hope that he can turn the Gators into a Playoff contender and cement Billy Napier as the long-term answer in Gainesville." "He's a potentially special player. But he has to play. In less than a month, it's Florida at LSU, at night," he concludes. Rexrode's colleague Ralph D. Russo at The Athletic recently referred to the loss of Lagway as Florida's worst-case scenario. "Nothing is more important to the Gators' success than quarterback DJ Lagway's health, but something similar can be said for just about any team," Russo states. "The difference between living up to this ranking and falling flat against a difficult schedule comes down to whether coach Billy Napier and his staff are up to the task of getting the most out of the talented roster they built." Long story short: it all comes down to DJ whether the Gators succeed or fail. Whether that is fair or not remains to be seen. Is the SEC the nation's best college football conference? CBS Sports ranks them all
College football is filled with some of the greatest rivalries in all of sports and those grudges are not limited to just the competing teams. There is also a strong sense of camaraderie felt among the member schools of each respective conference, as the strength of their peers helps raise the tide for everyone in the league. Not to mention the money that the bigger conferences bring in to help enrich their programs. Ahead of the 2025 campaign, CBS Sports writer Cody Nagel took a moment to rank all of the Football Bowl Subdivision schools — both the Power Four and the Group of Six — from top to bottom. In it, the Southeastern Conference, which hosts the Florida Gators, came out on top. CBS Sports explains SEC's top ranking "The SEC hasn't won a national title in the past two years and took plenty of criticism for its disappointing postseason showing last season," Nagel begins. "Still, it opens the 2025 season as the deepest conference in the country, topping the preseason conference power rankings. "Like it or not, the strength of the league is undeniable, with preseason No. 1 Texas leading a group that could put the SEC back on college football's mountaintop. No. 5 Georgia, No. 8 Alabama and No. 9 LSU all enter the year as legitimate national championship contenders, giving the conference four of the country's biggest heavyweights at the top," he continues. "It doesn't stop there. No. 13 South Carolina, No. 15 Florida, No. 18 Oklahoma, No. 19 Texas A&M, No. 21 Ole Miss and No. 24 Tennessee start inside the preseason AP Top 25 and our own CBS Sports 136, adding serious depth behind the league's top tier. Once again, the majority of the SEC looks capable of at least reaching a bowl game."
