Katherine Ryan reveals the savage reason Stephen Hawking rejected her
In a room full of celebrities, Katherine Ryan only had eyes for one man: Professor Stephen Hawking. But it wasn't meant to be.
The comedian confessed she 'tried it on' with the late theoretical physicist only to be rebuffed by his assistant, who claimed his 'tablet died'. Ouch.
Katherine, 41, was at a lavish party thrown by long-time friend and collaborator Jimmy Carr, dubbing him 'the London Gatsby'.
She recalled mingling with the likes of Kourtney Kardashian and Woody Harrelson at the glitzy bash, but it was Stephen she wanted to get to know.
'Well before Jimmy Carr's children were born, he used to have the most amazing parties,' she told Ashley Stobart and Lauren Adamson on their Nip Tuck Podcast.
'Like Brandon Flowers would be there,' she name-dropped. 'Woody Harrelson would be there, Professor Stephen Hawking, Monica Lewinsky.
'I met Kourtney Kardashian in Jimmy Carr's living room. He's like the London Gatsby. It was really fun.'
Ashley questioned if Stephen had tried it on with Katherine but the comedian clarified she was the one who was pursuing the romance.
'I tried it on with him because I saw in the film about him that he's kind of a ladies man,' the Duchess star explained.
'But then, quite hurtfully, he just kind of went quiet, and then his assistant came up and said, 'Oh, I'm sorry the professor's tablet has run out of battery. He can't talk to you anymore'.'
That could have been a reasonable explanation, but keen Katherine was not about to take the excuse at face value.
'I was mugged off and I know it,' she continued. 'He truly is a genius, but then I googled it and there's a backup battery for the tablet in the chairs
'So if the chair is moving, the battery is working.'
Katherine has since entered a civil partnership with Bobby Kootstra, her childhood sweetheart, in 2019.
They have a son called Fred, three, a daughter named Fenna, two, as well as 15-year-old daughter Violet from the comedian's previous relationship.
Stephen, who died in 2018 aged 76, had three children — Lucy, Robert and Timothy Hawking — with ex-wife Jane Wilde.
They married in 1965 but divorced 30 years later with Stephen then marrying his nurse, Elaine Mason but they split in 2006.
Katherine has previously opened up on her hopes to expand her brood but admitted time is not on her side. More Trending
In TV show At Home With Katherine Ryan, she said: 'It's not that surprising that over-40 women have fewer follicles than we once did.
'But we talk a lot about male fertility as well, which is on a steep decline. But I would still like a fourth baby.
'We are so blessed to have the kids that we do have. Having children is not for everyone, but I personally really like making people. I think it's a superpower, if you can do it.'

With Meghan's As Ever Instagram page becoming more active recently, a snap of the Duchess running in the sea in a white frock appeared over the weekend. The upload was captioned: "So excited for all the good to come! Running into the weekend like." Just hours before the water upload, Meghan had shared a series of heartwarming photos which featured herself, hubby Prince Harry, and their children - six-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lilibet. The family of four were seen enjoying a memorable family trip to Disneyland. Sharing the montage with her 3.7million followers on her personal page, Meghan described their two-day visit as "pure joy". She also expressed gratitude to the park for helping create their special experience. Offering a glimpse into her family's stateside life, Meghan included a sweet photo of Archie and Lilibet meeting Elsa from Frozen for the first time. Police storm Rivals set to arrest actor accused of assaulting ex-girlfriend
Just one hour after he filmed a scene starring Danny Dyer, an extra on TV show Rivals was arrested. Nigel Adams was reportedly led away in cuffs by six police officers while he was still in costume. The 45-year-old had been shooting a polo scene, with a second series of the hit Disney+ drama starring Emily Atack and David Tennant recently confirmed. Avon and Somerset Police are believed to have been tipped off that the former bricklayer was working on the Rivals set this week; hence, two cop cars showed up. His co-stars are said to have watched on in shock, with a source telling The Sun that it was 'very dramatic'. 'Everyone was in their costumes, and Danny was filming this polo scene when, an hour later, police suddenly turned up to arrest one of the extras,' added the insider. 'It was shocking.' Adams is said to have spent two nights in a cell before appearing in Bristol magistrates' court on Friday, accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend. The supporting actor, who has also appeared in Doctor Who and Casualty, is alleged to have assaulted her at a house in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, with cops called to the address on May 31 at 2am. In court, he entered no plea and was given conditional bail. He's due back in the city's crown court on July 7. In a statement, Rivals production company Happy Prince said: 'On the 4th June, the police visited the set regarding an unrelated matter involving a supporting artist. 'Production co-operated with the police. We do not have any further information as it is not connected to Rivals or to our production.' Corroborating their statement, Avon and Somerset Police confirmed a man from Locking, Somerset, had been arrested at Berkeley Castle on June 4, charged with assault and causing actual bodily harm. As well as the shows mentioned, Adams was also an extra in House of the Dragon and The Forsyte Saga. In 2022, he appeared in the movie Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher, which starred Ray Winstone. 'He'll be gutted because it could end his TV career, something he really loves doing,' said a friend.
