The New York Rangers are cutting down on their salary cap, which means they are cutting off players. In the list, there's Chris Kreider, who has been a Ranger for most part of his career.
As per several sources, the New York Rangers are looking to trade Kreider and Anaheim Ducks are willing to take him on the team. While there has been no solid deal, chances are that both parties will agree to a deal before the NHL Finals Game 4 commences.
Chris Kreider might play for the Ducks in next season
Last year, the New York Rangers GM Chris Drury reportedly sent a memo to all 31 NHL teams stating that the team is willing to trade some of its players. That memo included names like Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba, the latter was a former Rangers captain.
Once the Trouba trade was done with the Ducks, rumors have been spreading that the Rangers would be sending Kreider to the Ducks in order to cut off their salary cap.
As per Frank Servalli, an NHL Insider, there have been "advanced discussions' regarding a deal between the Rangers and Ducks that would send Kreider to the latter. Though there has been no confirmation yet, Servalli stated that a deal might be on the table by Wednesday.

To support his claims, the Rangers' beat writer Vince Mercogliano, also stated that he has been hearing the same news from several insider sources. As per Mercogliano, there have been talks that the Ducks will handle the remaining $6.5 million remaining in Kreider's contract with the Rangers. Whether it's true or not, will be revealed soon.
Kreider is one of the longest-standing players of the Rangers. He was picked by the Rangers in 2012 and has been playing dedicatedly for the team since then. Kreider's 48 goals in the Stanley Cup playoffs is still the highest in the franchise till now. Despite that, the Rangers want to trade their star player and make room in the salary cap. However, one of the driving forces behind this trade could be Kreider's inability to perform in the last two seasons, the reason being multiple injuries.
Kreider suffered from vertigo and a broken hand which put the player on pause for a long time.

"Skinner wasn't perfect last game but the rest of the team was far from it": Reddit defends Edmonton Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner amid fan backlash

Stuart Skinner (via Getty Images) Following a deflating 4–1 defeat to the Florida Panthers in Game 3 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Final, the Edmonton Oilers fan base (or at least the most vocal corners of it online) has turned to an old scapegoat: their goaltender. Stuart Skinner finds himself back in the crux of criticism. From Twitter rants to Reddit comments, outrage is bubbling over. And here's the reality: Stuart Skinner isn't the issue. The Edmonton Oilers are. Fans upset with Stuart Skinner's performance, but Reddit discusses otherwise Edmonton Oilers absorbed a whopping 85 minutes of penalties in Game 3 — pretty much giving Florida Panthers a free evening of prolonged power-play training. One Redditor hit the nail on the head starting the debate, "What is skinner supposed to do for people to stop shitting on him? My god." In Games 2 and 3 combined, the Oilers allowed 12 breakaways. It's not about opening the door to the occasional softie. It's about a system failing at defense as a team. Whether it's pinching carelessly, not backchecking, or just losing fights on the boards, Edmonton's blue line has hung Skinner out to dry, time and again. POST-RAW | Stuart Skinner 06.09.25 There's a disturbing trend in all sports, but particularly in hockey's intense Canadian markets: blaming goalies—unfairly and, increasingly, with cruelty. Some of those so-called "fans" have crossed the line into obscene abuse, reportedly sending threats against Skinner and his family. It's shameful behavior that goes way beyond criticism and is a reflection of the poisonous combination of sports fanaticism and online anonymity. One Reddit commenter summed it up bluntly: "It's disgusting how common this behavior has become amongst sports fans. It seems like there's some kind of headline about fans threatening players because of poor play at least once a week. There's 2 ways to look at it. 1) Is the gambling aspect. If you've gotten to the point of threatening athletes for poor play because you're losing bets, you need to get help for a gambling addiction. It's not on the players. 2) Is the obsessive fans aspect. I understand people being crazy passionate about their favorite teams. But I don't know how some people let a sports team that has no bearing on them dictate their entire lives. The nature of being a fan is becoming unbearable because of these people." Criticism is part of the gig. Abuse is not. And no one wins a Stanley Cup without a defense structure — no one, not even with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl up front. Skinner is not Bobrovsky. He's not Igor Shesterkin. But he doesn't need to be. He's a $2.6 million goaltender, and the majority of nights, he provides his team an opportunity to win. What he does require is support — from his defense, from the system, and the fans. One of the more thoughtful voices in the Reddit thread offered this: 'Whiners online don't represent the fan base. We love Stu, he gets hung out to dry a lot, he lets some softies in sometimes, but he also has had magnificent shutouts and fantastic saves even in the games they've lost." Report: Rangers' Chris Kreider signs off on trade to Ducks

Chris Kreider agreed to waive his no-trade clause in a deal that, once finalized, will send the longest-tenured member of the Rangers to the Anaheim Ducks, the New York Post reported. Kreider, who first suited up for the Rangers in the 2012 NHL playoffs, gave the OK on the reported deal Thursday morning. The Ducks were on the forward's 15-team no-trade list. Multiple media reports said the Rangers will receive forward Carey Terrance and a mid-round draft pick from the Ducks for Kreider and another mid-round pick. Anaheim also will take on all of Kreider's $6.5 million cap hit over each of the next two seasons. Kreider, 34, is entering the sixth season of a seven-year, $45.5 million contract. The Massachusetts native is slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2027. Kreider and then-Rangers captain Jacob Trouba were made available on the trade market earlier this season following a league-wide memo from New York general manager Chris Drury. The Ducks then acquired Trouba on Dec. 6 for defenseman Urho Vaakanainen and a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. Kreider recorded just 30 points in 68 games this season while nursing both back spasms and an illness. Earlier, he discussed his desire to stay in New York. "I mean, this is home for me," Kreider said in late April, per the New York Post. "This is the organization that gave me an opportunity to live out my dream. I've developed so many incredible relationships and grown up and spent so much time in this area. So, obviously, this is where I want to be and this is the group I want to help in whatever fashion and win hockey games." The franchise's third all-time leading goal scorer , Kreider also has 256 assists for 582 points in 883 career games since the Rangers selected him with the 19th overall pick of the 2009 NHL Draft. Terrance, 20, was selected by the Ducks in the second round of the 2023 NHL Draft. He recorded 39 points in 45 games this past season with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League. Florida Panthers fans break Guinness World Record for loudest roar amid NHL goal horn controversy

The Florida Panthers delivered a dominant 6-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final, but it wasn't just the scoreboard turning heads. Fans at Amerant Bank Arena made history by breaking the Guinness World Record for the loudest crowd roar—an achievement amplified by an ironic twist: the team's iconic goal horn failed to work. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Panthers' Game 3 Win overshadowed by NHL technical glitch and Guinness record-breaking crowd roar The Florida Panthers delivered a commanding 6-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final, but it wasn't just their offensive performance making headlines. Fans at Amerant Bank Arena made history by breaking the Guinness World Record for the loudest crowd roar at an indoor sports event, registering a thunderous 130.9 decibels. What makes this moment even more remarkable—and controversial—is the fact that the team's goal horn was completely non-functional during the game. Due to an electrical issue, the iconic horn failed to sound even once, leaving fans to fill the silence. And fill it they did—with record-breaking energy that became the true soundtrack of the night. According to sports personality Andy Slater, the deafening noise from Panthers fans was officially recognized by Guinness, adding an unexpected twist to an already intense Game 3. The roar surpassed levels typically associated with a jet engine or live concert, showing the world just how passionate Florida's fan base truly is. The game itself was a statement. Florida capitalized on early power plays and never looked back. Brad Marchand struck first just 56 seconds in, followed by goals from Sam Reinhart, Sam Bennett, Aaron Ekblad, and Evan Rodrigues. Sergei Bobrovsky stood tall with 32 saves, keeping the Oilers at bay and helping the Panthers take a 2-1 lead in the series. But despite the on-ice dominance, questions are now being raised about the NHL's preparedness for high-stakes events. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now How does a critical piece of in-game atmosphere—like the goal horn—malfunction during the Stanley Cup Final without a backup plan? For fans, it turned into an opportunity. For the league, it could be seen as a misstep on hockey's biggest stage. Also Read: Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice remained focused on what's ahead. Emphasizing the need for a 'mental reset,' he reminded everyone that each game starts at zero. Last year's playoff run taught them not to get comfortable, even with a lead.
